Habilitation of a city in case with multiple victims = Habilitación de una ciudad en sucesos con múltiples víctimas

Debido a que en España se han dado diferentes accidentes con múltiples víctimas en diferentes puntos del país, se cree conveniente que cada ciudad tenga un plan de gestión de catástrofes con una serie de espacios habilitados para poder responder en caso de un accidente de estas características. El presente art��culo tiene como objetivo presentar la habilitación de espacios aplicable en cualquier capital de provincia de España, tomando como ejemplo la ciudad de Girona. Se ha tomado la ciudad de Girona como modelo por presentar infraestructuras viarias, ferroviarias, portuarias y aeroportuarias cada vez más concurridas

Gp120/CD4 blocking antibodies are frequently elicited in ART-naïve chronically HIV-1 infected individuals

Antibodies with the ability to block the interaction of HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein (Env) gp120 with CD4, including those overlapping the CD4 binding site (CD4bs antibodies), can protect from infection by HIV-1, and their elicitation may be an interesting goal for any vaccination strategy. To identify gp120/CD4 blocking antibodies in plasma samples from HIV-1 infected individuals we have developed a competitive flow cytometry-based functional assay. In a cohort of treatment-naïve chronically infected patients, we showed that gp120/ CD4 blocking antibodies were frequently elicited (detected in 97% plasma samples) and correlated with binding to trimeric HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins. However, no correlation was observed between functional CD4 binding blockade data and titer of CD4bs antibodies determined by ELISA using resurfaced gp120 proteins. Consistently, plasma samples lacking CD4bs antibodies were able to block the interaction between gp120 and its receptor, indicating that antibodies recognizing other epitopes, such as PGT126 and PG16, can also play the same role. Antibodies blocking CD4 binding increased over time and correlated positively with the capacity of plasma samples to neutralize the laboratory-adapted NL4.3 and BaL virus isolates, suggesting their potential contribution to the neutralizing workforce of plasma in vivo. Determining whether this response can be boosted to achieve broadly neutralizing antibodies may provide valuable information for the design of new strategies aimed to improve the anti-HIV-1 humoral response and to develop a successful HIV- 1 vaccine.

Alterations of Na, K and Rb concentrations in Mycenaean pottery and a proposed explanation using X-ray diffraction

One of the most important reference groups for Mycenaean pottery is the Mycenae/Berbati (MB). In several studies, a second group has been identified (MBKR). The chemical compositions were similar to MB, but with important differences in the Na, K and Rb contents. The present study suggests that these differences are due to selective alteration and contamination processes that are indirectly determined by the original firing temperature. Therefore, groups MB and MBKR should be considered as a single reference group.

Technology transfer at the periphery of the Mycenaean world: the cases of Mycenaean pottery found in central Macedonia (Greece) and the Plain of Sybaris (Italy)

The study of technology transfer in pottery production to the periphery of the Mycenaean world has been addressed by considering two different areas, southern Italy and central Macedonia. Technological features such as ceramic paste, decoration and firing have been determined for different ceramic groups established according to provenance criteria. The studies of technology and provenance have been performed following an archaeometric approach, using neutron activation analysis, petrographic analysis, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results have revealed the existence of two different models. On the one hand, southern Italy seems to exhibit a more organized pottery production, which follows a Mycenaean-like technology, while in central Macedonia production is probably more varied, being based in part on the technology of the local tradition.

The Accessibility City. When Transport Infrastructure Matters in Urban Spatial Structure

Suburbanization is changing the urban spatial structure and less monocentric metropolitan regions are becoming the new urban reality. Focused only on centers, most works have studied these spatial changes neglecting the role of transport infrastructure and its related location model, the “accessibility city”, in which employment and population concentrate in low-density settlements and close to transport infrastructure. For the case of Barcelona, we consider this location model and study the population spatial structure between 1991 and 2006. The results reveal a mix between polycentricity and the accessibility city, with movements away from the main centers, but close to the transport infrastructure.

El proyecto Science of the city. Territorio de encuentro entre arte, ciencia y ciudad

El objetivo de este art��culo es presentar la experiencia colaborativa entre el proyecto Science of the city y el grupo de investigación"Metamétodo. Metodologías compartidas y procesos art��sticos en la sociedad del conocimiento" de la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la UB y La Mandarina de Newton, empresa emergente en el ámbito de la divulgación científica, interesada en nuevas estrategias y formas de pensar la ciencia que reviertan en la transmisión del conocimiento. Las cuestiones ¿Qué es ciencia? y ¿Qué es ciudad? o ¿Dónde encontramos la ciencia en la ciudad? fueron el punto de partida del proyecto Science of the city, ideado por La Mandarina de Newton. Los organizadores lanzaron una convocatoria a través de la red, en formato de concurso internacional de vídeos que debían tratar estas cuestiones. El propósito era acercar la ciencia a las experiencias cotidianas de los habitantes de la ciudad y a su vez, obtener una respuesta en formato de vídeo que nos sirviera como punto de partida para los artistas integrantes de nuestro grupo de investigación para elaborar nuestras propias obras. Los vídeos ganadores y las obras resultantes de esta experiencia conformaron la exposición Science of the City, proyecto financiado por el FECYT. La exposición pudo verse en el espacio Arts Santa Mònica de Barcelona en mayo del pasado 2012. Los procesos de trabajo y las reflexiones quedaron recopilados en una publicación multilingüe.

Die ersten offiziellen Ausgrabungen in Ampurias (Empuries, L'Escala, Provinz Girona): 1846

En el año 2008 tuvo lugar el aniversario del centenario de las excavaciones arqueológicas en la ciudad greco-romana de Ampurias. Precisamente las investigaciones de esa época tienen un significado cultural y simbólico muy importante para el desarrollo de la autognosis de Cataluña a comienzos del siglo XX. El presente art��culo intenta llamar la atención sobre los verdaderos comienzos de las investigaciones sobre la antigua ciudad, que habían comenzado bastante antes. Si nos concentramos en considerar los lugares de patrocinio público las excavaciones privadas fueron habituales en todas las épocas entonces las excavaciones científicas comenzaron siete décadas antes. Responsable fue la Comisión de Monumentos de Girona, que contó con el apoyo financiero de la Diputación Provincial.

Aquest projecte de recerca proposa un estudi emmarcat en la realitat actual de lazona geogràfica del Baix Ter enfocat des d’un prisma transversal que col·labori a feraflorar noves reflexions sobre el territori i el paisatge a partir d’algunes de les aportacionsque s’estan produint des de les arts plàstiques.La investigació pretén omplir un buit historiogràfic existent pel que fa alpatrimoni d’art contemporani de la zona, tenint en compte la notorietat de la sevariquesa cultural i art��stica. Es proposa analitzar algunes de les figures art��stiques mésrellevants que hi treballen i seleccionar d’aquelles que treballin més directament sobre elterritori, el paisatge i la formació de nous valors al seu entorn

The referent : a new referential methodology and procedure in live drawing

My research in live drawing and new technologies uses a combination of a human figure in live in composition, overlaid with a digital projection of a second human figure. The aim is to explore, to amplify and thoroughly analyse the search for distinctive identities and graphic languages of representation for live and projected models.

Getting to know about health and safety related to products used in painting, drawing and printmakin

Practicing art is not a high risk activity. This statement, along with the creative, expressive and intangible aims of this activity, as well as the lack of information, promotion of safety awareness and training of thepeople in charge of art studios, may have pushed the implications of practicing art as regards health, safety and environment into the background. Faced with this prospect, a comprehensive study of the facilities and the activities carried out in art studios becomes necessary. The study concerns experimental activities involving Health and Safety risks for both the artists and the teachers and students, especially those carried out in the studios located in educational institutions.

El treball cooperatiu com a mètode d'experimentació en l'art : treballar l'educació art��stica a l'educació infantil

Els objectius de l’estudi realitzat en aquest treball són: comprovar que l’educació art��stica també pot ser una eina d’inclusió a l’escola, conèixer els beneficis de l’experimentació/exploració en l’art, i observar com aquests influeixen en l’aprenentatge dels infants, i finalment veure els beneficis del treball cooperatiu com a mètode d’experimentació en l’art. L’estudi s’ha realitzat a partir d’ una recerca teòrica i duent a terme una part pràctica de vàries sessions amb la col·laboració dels infants de P4 de l’escola Joan XXIII d’Hostalets de Balenyà. La pràctica s’ha anomenat “Art amb pedres”, que com el seu nom indica, les pedres eren l’element natural que han utilitzat els infants per a convertir-se en verdaders artistes!

L'Experiència autobiogràfica, l'art i el compromís ètic de l'escriptor: tres eixos de la narrativa de Maria Àngels Anglada

L’obra de M. Àngels Anglada constitueix un tramat complex de lectures i influències que s’interpreta a través de nivells de significació i d’interessos que s’entrecreuen. Com a pilar que sosté tot aquest corpus hi ha un gran bagatge clàssic i una vasta formació literària que, juntament amb l’experiència vital i el posicionament ètic de l’autora, proporcionen les claus de lectura dels seus llibres. Partint d’aquesta idea, l’article aprofundeix en els tres aspectes que considerem eixos fonamentals de l’obra de l’escriptora: els elements autobiogràfics, l’art i el compromís social.

Influence of Assisted Reproductive Techniques in the occurrence of weight discordance in twin gestations

Background:There is no actual evidence that the ART are directly related to the occurrence of weight discordance. In some studies, ART-­‐conceived twin pregnancies are at greater risk than non-­‐ART-­‐conceived ones for pregnancy complications and adverse perinatal outcome: the incidences of pregnancy-­‐induced hypertension, uterine bleeding, premature contractions, IUGR, fetal death, discordance, and cesarean section were significantly higher. Discordance rate was elevated (25.3% vs.17.0%) among ART twins, which can increase perinatal risk (increased incidence of SGA and NICU admission). Other studies say that perinatal and neonatal morbidity, gestational age at delivery, and birth weight are not affected by ART. Regarding the first trimester ultrasound, some studies didn’t notice significant differences in CRL disparity or birth weight discordance between spontaneous and ART-­‐ conceived dichorionic twin pregnancies. In ART-­‐conceived dichorionic twin pregnancies, CRL disparity may be associated with birth weight discordance. In some studies, CRL discordance in twin pregnancies in the first trimester was a frequent finding. Objectives: To analyze the association of the ART in the occurrence of weight discordance in the pregnancies between 2010 and 2013 in the Hospital Universitari de Girona Doctor Josep Trueta, and to describe the proportion of diagnosis of growth discordance in the first trimester by the ultrasonography technology. Methods: A retrospective cohort study will be performed in those patients with twin pregnancies between 2010 and 2013, within the Hospital Universitari de Girona Doctor Josep Trueta (HUJT). A retrospective and descriptive study will be done in those cases with discordance weight in the moment of the birth, in which the CRL will be studied in the first trimester ultrasound, describing the percentage of discordance detected in that moment.
