Suzanne Davit, nacida Ludonneau, ha sido durante muchos años un elemento importante y muy apreciado en los medios científicos y artísticos barceloneses. Trajo de París una valiosa preparación técnica, que le hizo gran servicio al quedar viuda y dedicarse con intensidad a la pintura.

La gestió de la col·lecció a les biblioteques de recerca està sofrint grans canvis. Els nous procediments, que donaven sentit a la gestió de les col·leccions només trenta anys enrera, han esdevingut obsolets degut als canvis en la publicació i l'educació superior, l'aparició de nous sistemes d'informació digital i la debilitada economia de les biblioteques. Les biblioteques de recerca i els seus bibliotecaris es replantegen el model tradicional i busquen noves alternatives per a satisfer les necessitats formatives i informatives dels seus usuaris a l'era de la informació digital.

Proposing a 'Consent Commons' in open education - balancing the desire for openness with the rights of people to refuse or withdraw from participation

A new 'Consent Commons' licensing framework is proposed, complementing Creative Commons, to clarify the permissions given for using and reusing clinical and non-clinical digital recordings of people (patients and non-patients) for educational purposes. Consent Commons is a sophisticated expression of ethically based 'digital professionalism', which recognises the rights of patients, carers, their families, teachers, clinicians, students and members of the public to have some say in how their digital recordings are used (including refusing or withdrawing their consent), and is necessary in order to ensure the long term sustainability of teaching materials, including Open Educational Resources (OER). Consent Commons can ameliorate uncertainty about the status of educational resources depicting people, and protect institutions from legal risk by developing robust and sophisticated policies and promoting best practice in managing their information.

Quantum nonlocality in two three-level systems

Recently a new Bell inequality has been introduced by Collins et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 040404 (2002)], which is strongly resistant to noise for maximally entangled states of two d-dimensional quantum systems. We prove that a larger violation, or equivalently a stronger resistance to noise, is found for a nonmaximally entangled state. It is shown that the resistance to noise is not a good measure of nonlocality and we introduce some other possible measures. The nonmaximally entangled state turns out to be more robust also for these alternative measures. From these results it follows that two von Neumann measurements per party may be not optimal for detecting nonlocality. For d=3,4, we point out some connections between this inequality and distillability. Indeed, we demonstrate that any state violating it, with the optimal von Neumann settings, is distillable.

The ambiguous disruption of gender-role expectations in the law and the lady name

The main purpose of this research project is to analyse the major female figures in Wilkie Collins' work of fiction The Law and the Lady, in relation to the times in which the novel was produced and the situation of women in the Victorian era. After taking into account the major events of the life of the author, as well as the sociohistorical conditions of the Victorian period, I try to reach conclusions about whether the author challenges gender-role expectations, presenting the readers with a new form of femininity, of if, on the contrary, he preserves and maintains a conservative, traditional perspective of femininity and female conventions proper to the established parameters of the times in which he lived. Angular distributions of leptons from J/ ψ's produced in 920 GeV fixed-target proton-nucleus collisions

A study of the angular distributions of leptons from decays of J/ψ"s produced in p-C and p-W collisions at s√=41.6~GeV has been performed in the J/ψ Feynman-x region −0.341 GeV/c a significant dependence on the reference frame is found: the polar anisotropy is more pronounced in the Collins-Soper frame and almost vanishes in the helicity frame, where, instead, a significant azimuthal anisotropy arises.

La Directiva 2004/38/CE y la jurisprudencia del TJCE sobre el disfrute de las prestaciones sociales: ¿freno al avance en materia social o adecuación a los intereses de los Estados?

El artículo tiene como objetivo analizar el modelo social incorporado en la Directiva 2004/38/CE en el marco de la jurisprudencia del Tribunal de Justicia. El artículo está dividido en dos partes. En la primera se describe la evolución del modelo de coordinación social de la Unión Europea y los avances propuestos por el TJCE a partir de la ciudadanía europea sobre el acceso a las prestaciones sociales (Martínez Sala, Grzelczyk y Collins). La segunda parte del artículo describe el modelo social incorporado en la Directiva 2004/38/ CE y los cambios que éste supuso para la jurisprudencia que venía dictando el TJCE. El artículo concluye que la Directiva 2004/38/CE tuvo un papel de contención frente los pasos dados por el Tribunal para incluir los derechos sociales en la ciudadanía de la Unión; además, la Directiva fragmentó la interpretación del principio de no discriminación para los ciudadanos no económicamente activos.
