Diseño y fabricación de una antena con diversidad en polarización para redes WIFI a 2,4 GHz

Existeixen diferents tecnologies de transmissió sense fils, però la més coneguda és la tecnologia WIFI (Wireless Fidelity) que opera a la banda dels 2,4 GHz a Europa. Aquest tipus de xarxes opera en entorns indoor, on el canal està sotmès a una aleatorietat i complexitat elevades degut a la presència d’una gran quantitat d’elements que poden fer que la senyal rebuda presenti variacions importants en les seves característiques (nivell de senyal, polarització...). Aquest fet motiva la necessitat de desenvolupar i implantar sistemes de comunicacions amb solucions per poder minimitzar els efectes provocats per l’entorn a la senyal. Per poder pal·liar aquestes variacions, en aquest projecte s’ha dissenyat i fabricat una antena formada per dos dipols disposats un ortogonal a l’altre de manera que existeixi diversitat en polarització. La freqüència de treball de la antena és de 2,4 GHz. Rebuda una senyal de RF, el circuit de commutació permetrà seleccionar el dipol pel qual es rep la senyal de RF amb una major potència.

Sistema de servidores VoIP del proyecto guifi.net

Las redes inalámbricas y la VoIP están revolucionando la manera de comunicarnos debido a la fácil implementación y al bajo coste. En este proyecto se desarrolla un sistema de telefonía interna y externa para la red guifi.net que permite comunicar los servidores y los teléfonos de la red, y realizar llamadas a la red telefónica a través de un proveedor de VoIP. También se comprueban las limitaciones de la red inalámbrica y se muestran soluciones para optimizar los recursos disponibles para obtener mayor rendimiento.

Desarrollo e implantación de un entorno wifi abierto

Desarrollo de un entorno con conectividad inalámbrica basada en Wi-Fi, sistema de envío y recepción de datos en redes computacionales que utiliza ondas hertzianas para la comunicación y está acotada por la Wi-Fi Alliance bajo el estándar 802.11.

Projecte UD-WIFI

La Universitat de Deusto al seu campus de San Sebastià pretén amb aquest projecte gestionar centralitzadament els espais amb cobertura WIFI corresponents a ubicacions concretes i localitzades. Per a això s'acollirà al programa 'Accés a Internet i mobilitat amb WI-FI' promogut per la SPRI (Societat per a la Promoció i Reconversió Industrial), que ofereix subvencions per a la instal·lació de xarxes sense fil amb tecnologia WI-FI ubicades dins de la Comunitat Autònoma de País Basc.

Una empresa de grandària mitja s'embarca en un projecte de migració del seu sistema telefònic, basat en un model tradicional i amb múltiples problemes, tant a nivell de funcionalitat com de costos, i decideix apostar per una solució basada en programari lliure, amb Linux i Asterisk com peces angulars del disseny del projecte.

A continuous strain-space model of viral evolution within a host

Viruses rapidly evolve, and HIV in particular is known to be one of the fastest evolving human viruses. It is now commonly accepted that viral evolution is the cause of the intriguing dynamics exhibited during HIV infections and the ultimate success of the virus in its struggle with the immune system. To study viral evolution, we use a simple mathematical model of the within-host dynamics of HIV which incorporates random mutations. In this model, we assume a continuous distribution of viral strains in a one-dimensional phenotype space where random mutations are modelled by di ffusion. Numerical simulations show that random mutations combined with competition result in evolution towards higher Darwinian fitness: a stable traveling wave of evolution, moving towards higher levels of fi tness, is formed in the phenoty space.

Sistema de auto localización a partir de una red WIFI

El objetivo de este trabajo es la localización de una persona u objeto mediante la tecnología inalámbrica. Para realizarlo se ha hecho un estudio sobre las ondas wifi observando su comportamiento en distintas situaciones, así como sus problemas y factores que pueden ser relevantes en el proceso, para dar lugar a un posicionamiento acertado.

The extraordinarily bright optical afterglow of GRB 991208 and its host galaxy

Observations of the extraordinarily bright optical afterglow (OA) of GRB 991208 started 2.1 d after the event. The flux decay constant of the OA in the R-band is -2.30 +/- 0.07 up to 5 d, which is very likely due to the jet effect, and after that it is followed by a much steeper decay with constant -3.2 +/- 0.2, the fastest one ever seen in a GRB OA. A negative detection in several all-sky films taken simultaneously to the event implies either a previous additional break prior to 2 d after the occurrence of the GRB (as expected from the jet effect). The existence of a second break might indicate a steepening in the electron spectrum or the superposition of two events. Once the afterglow emission vanished, contribution of a bright underlying SN is found, but the light curve is not sufficiently well sampled to rule out a dust echo explanation. Our determination of z = 0.706 indicates that GRB 991208 is at 3.7 Gpc, implying an isotropic energy release of 1.15 x 10E53 erg which may be relaxed by beaming by a factor > 100. Precise astrometry indicates that the GRB coincides within 0.2' with the host galaxy, thus given support to a massive star origin. The absolute magnitude is M_B = -18.2, well below the knee of the galaxy luminosity function and we derive a star-forming rate of 11.5 +/- 7.1 Mo/yr. The quasi-simultaneous broad-band photometric spectral energy distribution of the afterglow is determined 3.5 day after the burst (Dec 12.0) implying a cooling frequency below the optical band, i.e. supporting a jet model with p = -2.30 as the index of the power-law electron distribution.

In vitro susceptibility to pentavalent antimony in Leishmania infantum strains is not modified during in vitro or in vivo passages but is modified after host treatment with meglumine antimoniate

Background: Leishmaniasis is a common parasitic disease in Southern Europe, caused by Leishmania infantum. The failures of current treatment with pentavalent antimonials are partially attributable to the emergence of antimony-resistant Leishmania strains. This study analyses the in vitro susceptibility to pentavalent antimony of intracellular amastigotes from a range of L. infantum strains, derived from the same infected animal, during in vitro and in vivo passages and after host treatment with meglumine antimoniate. Results: SbV-IC50 values for strains from two distinct isolates from the same host and one stock after two years of culture in NNN medium and posterior passage to hamster were similar (5.0 ± 0.2; 4.9 ± 0.2 and 4.4 ± 0.1 mgSbV/L, respectively). In contrast, a significant difference (P < 0.01, t test) was observed between the mean SbV-IC50 values in the stocks obtained before and after treatment of hosts with meglumine antimoniate (4.7 ± 0.4 mgSbV/L vs. 7.7 ± 1.5 mgSbV/L). Drug-resistance after drug pressure in experimentally infected dogs increased over repeated drug administration (6.4 ± 0.5 mgSbV/L after first treatment vs. 8.6 ± 1.4 mgSbV/L after the second) (P < 0.01, t test). Conclusions: These results confirm previous observations on strains from Leishmania/HIV co-infected patients and indicate the effect of the increasing use of antimony derivatives for treatment of canine leishmaniasis in endemic areas on the emergence of Leishmania antimony-resistant strains.

Implantación de un sistema VoIP basado en software libre con Asterisk

Este proyecto busca analizar, diseñar e implementar una nueva solución de telefonía para el Centro Social de Oficiales de la Policía Nacional contemplando la posibilidad de optar por una migración hacia un sistema VoIP bajo software libre con Asterisk. En consecuencia, se deben evaluar las tecnologías actuales buscando proveer nuevas funcionalidades en el servicio telefónico generando bajos costos en su implementación, funcionamiento y mantenimiento.
