La visión teofánica en el sufismo de Ibn al-'Arabî (ob. 638/1240)

Un conocido dicho sufí dice que: "El color del agua es el color de su recipiente". Para hablar de la visión teofánica, al-Junayd, Ibn 'Arabi y otros muchos místicos invocaban frecuentemente este símbolo. Según al-Bistami, el color del recipiente -el corazón del contemplador- da "color" al agua que en sí es invisible; según Ibn 'Arabi, no es el corazón quien da su "color" a la Forma que recibe, sino que, a la inversa, el corazón del gnóstico "se colorea" en cada instante con el color, es decir, con la modalidad de la Forma bajo la cual el Ser divino se epifaniza en él. Así es como "l gnóstico,asume las peculiaridades del carácter de Dios, hasta tal punto que parece como si él fuera El". El propósito del presente artículo es analizar la teoría neoplatónica de la manifestación de lo divino expresada por medio de dos parábolas -el color del agua y el color del vidrio- presentes tanto en la tradición islámica como en la judía.

Ignorance promotes competition: An auction model with endogenous private valuations

We study a situation in which an auctioneer wishes to sell an object toone of N risk-neutral bidders with heterogeneous preferences. Theauctioneer does not know bidders preferences but has private informationabout the characteristics of the ob ject, and must decide how muchinformation to reveal prior to the auction. We show that the auctioneerhas incentives to release less information than would be efficient andthat the amount of information released increases with the level ofcompetition (as measured by the number of bidders). Furthermore, in aperfectly competitive market the auctioneer would provide the efficientlevel of information.

Comisiones de la verdad y justicia penal en contextos de transición

Una de las cuestiones más controvertidas en la problemática de la justicia de transición es la relativa a las Comisiones de la Verdad. En este artículo se analizan estos órganos de investigación desde el prisma de la obligación de proveer justicia ante las graves violaciones de derechos humanos y se plantea en qué condiciones una fórmula basada en la verdad y la reparación puede servir a los fines de la justicia penal.

Executive functions profile in extreme eating/weight conditions: from anorexia nervosa to obesity

Extreme weight conditions (EWC) groups along a continuum may share some biological risk factors and intermediate neurocognitive phenotypes. A core cognitive trait in EWC appears to be executive dysfunction, with a focus on decision making, response inhibition and cognitive flexibility. Differences between individuals in these areas are likely to contribute to the differences in vulnerability to EWC. The aim of the study was to investigate whether there is a common pattern of executive dysfunction in EWC while comparing anorexia nervosa patients (AN), obese subjects (OB) and healthy eating/weight controls (HC).

LS 5039: A runaway microquasar ejected from the galactic plane

We have compiled optical and radio astrometric data of the microquasar LS 5039 and derived its proper motion. This, together with the distance and radial velocity of the system, allows us to state that this source is escaping from its own regional standard of rest, with a total systemic velocity of about 150 km/s and a component perpendicular to the galactic plane larger than 100 km/s. This is probably the result of an acceleration obtained during the supernova event that created the compact object in this binary system. We have computed the trajectory of LS 5039 in the past, and searched for OB associations and supernova remnants in its path. In particular, we have studied the possible association between LS 5039 and the supernova remnant G016.8-01.1, which, despite our efforts, remains dubious. We have also discovered and studied an HI cavity in the ISM, which could have been created by the stellar wind of LS 5039 or by the progenitor of the compact object in the system. Finally, in the symmetric supernova explosion scenario, we estimate that at least 17 solar masses were lost in order to produce the high eccentricity observed. Such a mass loss could also explain the observed runaway velocity of the microquasar.
