Diagnóstico de la infección tuberculosa mediante IGRAs en pacientes con psoriasis

El úso de anti-TNF-α se ha asociado a reactivación de infección tuberculosa latente (ITL). Los IGRAs son pruebas in vitro más sensibles y mas específicas que la prueba de la prueba de la tuberculina (PT). El objetivo de este trabajo es el de contrastar la correlación entre los resultados de las técnicas in vitro y la PT. Analizamos 103 pacientes con psoriasis en tratamiento sistémico. Los resultados de nuestra serie permiten sugerir una mayor sensibilidad y especificidad de los IGRAs en la detección de ITL respecto a la PT, de forma independiente al estado de inmunosupresión y al fármaco empleado, con alta concordancia entre los IGRAs.

A note on Luttens’ Minimal rights based solidarity

Following the approach developed by Luttens (2010), we consider a model where individuals with di fferent levels of skills exert di fferent levels of e ffor. Speci fically, we propose a redistribution mechanism based on a lower bound on what every individual deserves: the so-called minimal rights (O'Neill (1982)). Our re finement of Luttens' mechanism ensures at the same time minimal rights based solidarity, participation (non-negativity) and claims feasibility. La investigació analitza models teòrics que puguin ajuda'ns a comprendre els canvis estructurals de la societat del tercer mil•lenni que puguin afectar també al món de l'educació, entre els que destaquem la introducció de les TIC, el Lifelong Learning i un canvi paradigmàtic des del concepte de temps precís (Kronos) fins al concepte de temps escaient (Kairos)

On the term structure of Interbank interest rates: Jump-diffusion processes and option pricing

In this paper we study the dynamic behavior of the term structureof Interbank interest rates and the pricing of options on interest ratesensitive securities. We posit a generalized single factor model withjumps to take into account external influences in the market. Daily datais used to test for jump effects. Qualitative examination of the linkagebetween Monetary Authorities' interventions and jumps are studied. Pricingresults suggests a systematic underpricing in bonds and call options ifthe jumps component is not included. However, the pricing of put optionson bonds presents indeterminacies.

Las complicaciones postoperatorias tras la cirugía del cáncer gástrico con pretensión curativa no influyen en la recidiva

En la literatura, constan algunos trabajos que presentan como hipótesis que las complicaciones postoperatorias influyen en la recidiva y la supervivencia del cáncer. Existen pocos estudios sobre el cáncer gástrico, pero recientemente, se ha publicado uno que afirma esta relación. Por el contrario, nuestro proyecto, que consta de una serie de pacientes con características distintas que el mencionado estudio, niega esta relación. Se ha podido realizar el seguimiento de forma exhaustiva de los pacientes, descubriendo algunos factores ya descritos en la literatura anteriormente como factores de riesgo de la recidiva y de la supervivencia, dando así veracidad a nuestros datos.

Un ordenador por alumno: reflexiones del profesorado de Cataluña sobre los entornos 1x11

En la primera parte de este trabajo se presentan algunas reflexiones en torno a las recientes políticas educativas estatales de incorporación de las TIC en los centros educativos siguiendo el modelo de un ordenador por alumno. En una segunda parte, se aborda la concreción en Cataluña del proyecto Escuela 2.0 y la valoración que realiza el profesorado de esta comunidad autónoma de los entornos 1x1.

On the coincidence of the Mas-Colell bargaining set and the core

In this paper we prove that the Mas-Colell bargaining set coincides with the core for three-player balanced and superadditive cooperative games. This is no longer true without the superadditivity condition or for games with more than three-players. Furthermore, under the same assumptions, the coincidence between the Mas-Collel and the individual rational bargaining set (Vohra (1991)) is revealed. Targeting microglial KATP channels to treat neurodegenerative diseases: a mitochondrial issue

Neurodegeneration is a complex process involving different cell types and neurotransmitters. A common characteristic of neurodegenerative disorders is the occurrence of a neuroinflammatory reaction in which cellular processes involving glial cells, mainly microglia and astrocytes, are activated in response to neuronal death. Microglia do not constitute a unique cell population but rather present a range of phenotypes closely related to the evolution of neurodegeneration. In a dynamic equilibrium with the lesion microenvironment, microglia phenotypes cover from a proinflammatory activation state to a neurotrophic one directly involved in cell repair and extracellular matrix remodeling. At each moment, the microglial phenotype is likely to depend on the diversity of signals from the environment and of its response capacity. As a consequence, microglia present a high energy demand, for which the mitochondria activity determines the microglia participation in the neurodegenerative process. As such, modulation of microglia activity by controlling microglia mitochondrial activity constitutes an innovative approach to interfere in the neurodegenerative process. In this review, we discuss the mitochondrial KATP channel as a new target to control microglia activity, avoid its toxic phenotype, and facilitate a positive disease outcome.
