Mineralógicamente se distinguen tres grupos de arenales: costa de Poniente, costa de Levante e isla Grossa. Las playas de la costa de Poniente se caracterizan por la presencia constante de dolomita, hornblenda y por los minerales opacos. Costa de Levante es ms rica en especies mineralógicas que la costa de Poniente, dominando la dolomita, los piroxenos y la turmalina; y en la isla Grossa predominan los piroxenos, especialmente la enstatita. La proporción de carbonatos es muy elevada en todas las muestras, 20-50 %. Domina en las playas de la costa de Poniente la arena de grano grueso, y en las playas de Levante e isla de Poarena fina. Los cantos son abundantes en las playas de Poniente y estn presentes en las de Levante. Cabo de Palos parece actuar de barrera, separando dos provincias petrogenticas.

En esta nota se estudian las reacciones tectónicas entre diversas unidades del Prepirineo español (prov. de Lrida), junto a la zona axial pirenaica. El estudio tectnico permite evidenciar el carácter alóctono de la Unidad Montsec de Tost (terminación oriental de la denominada Zona de los Nogueras) y la existencia de dos fases tectónicas perfectamente diferenciadas.

The Bac Grillera nappe (Prepirenean of Girona) shows a stratigraphic section composed of two unconformi ty-bounded units. The lower unit is composed by rethian (marly limestones) and liassic (brechoid marly limestones and limestones). The upper unit (sandstones and marly limestones) belongs to the upper Cretaceous (Campanian)

This paper, fundamentally stratigraphic, is based on the vertical distribution of fauna in sediments which constitute the Montgri Massif. The stratigraphic series is composed of two units: one allochtonous (Mesozoic) and a second one autochtonous (Paleogene). The latter crops out in front of the thrust belt and presents the typical facies described by PALLI (1972). The allochtonous part is formed by the following units (from bottom to top): variegated gypsiferous shales of Keuper age; marls, limestones and dolomites from the Lias (Domerian); gray breccia ted dolomites: supraliassic; and Cretaceous limestones with rare interbeds of calcareous marls and nodular shaly marls. In this unit the Neocomian, Barremian (?), Aptian, Albian, Cenomanian, Turonian (?) and Santonian haven been recognized. Structurally, the Montgri Massif is part of a thrust belt which has been divided into three parts of different development ang age. Both parts are affected by ample synclinal folds of NE-SW directions and fractures of NW-SE orientation. The fractures condition the torrential streams as well as the karstic phenomena present in the Massif. These and the eolian actions are the main causes of the present geomorphology of the Montgri
