Application of the european customer satisfaction index to postal services. Structural equation models versus partial least squars

Customer satisfaction and retention are key issues for organizations in today’s competitive market place. As such, much research and revenue has been invested in developing accurate ways of assessing consumer satisfaction at both the macro (national) and micro (organizational) level, facilitating comparisons in performance both within and between industries. Since the instigation of the national customer satisfaction indices (CSI), partial least squares (PLS) has been used to estimate the CSI models in preference to structural equation models (SEM) because they do not rely on strict assumptions about the data. However, this choice was based upon some misconceptions about the use of SEM’s and does not take into consideration more recent advances in SEM, including estimation methods that are robust to non-normality and missing data. In this paper, both SEM and PLS approaches were compared by evaluating perceptions of the Isle of Man Post Office Products and Customer service using a CSI format. The new robust SEM procedures were found to be advantageous over PLS. Product quality was found to be the only driver of customer satisfaction, while image and satisfaction were the only predictors of loyalty, thus arguing for the specificity of postal services

Anti-Hellenism and Anti-Classicism in Oscar Wilde's Works. The Second Pole of a Paradoxical Mind.

Thanks to a powerful intellectual weapon, paradox, Oscar Wilde also discovers the dark side of both Classicism and Hellenism. An accurate analysis of his works from the point of view of the Classical Tradition shows an Oscar Wilde who is quite different from the usual Philhellenic one and, above all, from the Platonic one. The aim of this article is to approach a theme which has been hardly studied by classical philologists, that is, anti-classicism and anti-hellenism as an intellectual urge.

The age of the"Grande Coupure" mammal turnover: New constraints from the Eocene Oligocene record of the Eastern Ebro Basin (NE Spain.)

The Grande Coupure represents a major terrestrial faunal turnover recorded in Eurasia associated with the overall climate shift at the Eocene-Oligocene transition. During this event, a large number of European Eocene endemic mammals became extinct and new Asian immigrants appeared. The absolute age of the Grande Coupure, however, has remained controversial for decades. The Late Eocene-Oligocene continental record of the Eastern Ebro Basin (NE Spain) constitutes a unique opportunity to build a robust magnetostratigraphy- based chronostratigraphy which can contribute with independent age constraints for this important turnover. This study presents new magnetostratigraphic data of a 495-m-thick section (Moià-Santpedor) that ranges from 36.1 Ma to 33.3 Ma. The integration of the new results with previous litho- bio- and magnetostratigraphic records of the Ebro Basin yields accurate ages for the immediately pre- and post-Grand Coupure mammal fossil assemblages found in the study area, bracketing the Grande Coupure to an age embracing the Eocene-Oligocene transition, with a maximum allowable lag of 0.5 Myr with respect to this boundary. The shift to drier conditions that accompanied the global cooling at the Eocene-Oligocene transition probably determined the sedimentary trends in the Eastern Ebro Basin. The occurrence and expansion of an amalgamated-channel sandstone unit is interpreted as the forced response of the fluvial fan system to the transient retraction of the central-basin lake systems. The new results from the Ebro Basin allow us to revisit correlations for the controversial Eocene-Oligocene record of the Hampshire Basin (Isle of Wight, UK), and their implications for the calibration of the Mammal Palaeogene reference levels MP18 to MP21.

Un análisis riguroso del conjunto de su obra desde la perspectiva de la Tradición Clásica, nos revela también un Oscar Wilde diferente del usual Wilde filohelénico y, sobre todo, platónico. El objetivo de este artículo es abordar un tema muy poco estudiado por los filólogos clásicos cual es el anticlasicismo y el antihelenismo como necesidades intelectuales.

[spa] Revisar los Pensamientos de Pascal y las Cartas sobre la educación estética del hombre de Schiller constituye siempre un reto. Las teoríass de Pascal acerca del juego han sido analizadas fundamentalmente desde un punto de vista matemático, y pocas veces lo han sido desde un enfoque más antropológico y filosófico. El objetivo del presente artículo es reflexionar sobre sus papeles respectivos en la creación de un nuevo paradigma sobre el juego y leer cada uno de ellos a partir de las teorías del otro. Tal vez des este modo pueda probarse que ambos comparten un mismo proyecto irrealizable de lo humano. [eng] Reviewing the Thoughts by Pascal and the Letters on the Aesthetic Education of Man by Schiller is always a challenge. Pascal"s theories about play have been analyzed primarily from a mathematical point of view, and very few times have been examined from an anthropological and philosophical approach. The aim of this paper is to reflect on their respective roles in the creation of a new paradigm about play, and read each of them from the theories of the other. Perhaps in this way it might be proved that both share an unfeasible project about the human nature.
