La vida d'un llibre: qui és en Pau?

Treball de recerca realitzat per una alumna d'ensenyament secundari i guardonat amb un Premi CIRIT per fomentar l'esperit cientí­fic del Jovent l'any 2009.Es basa fonamentalment en l'anàlisi de les publicacions editorials, és a dir, el procés que segueix un llibre des que és acabat d'escriure fins que el trobem a les prestatgeries d'una llibreria. No obstant això, també aprofundeix en les alternatives de publicació que no són habituals i força desconegudes de cara al gran públic -encara que de mica en mica van guanyant terreny-, en les editorials catalanes més importants que publiquen literatura juvenil i en el mètode de treball d'un escriptor. Tot això enfocat des de la mateixa experiència pròpia: l'autor va decidir escriure una novel•la, va buscar una editorial interessada i va aconseguir-ho. En el treball s'hi explica pas a pas el procés d escriptura, el contacte amb Setzevents, la presentació de la novel•la a la llibreria Robafaves i els mètodes de difusió. A més consta de quatre annexos on hi apareixen una entrevista amb l'escriptor Rafael Vallbona, aclariments o notes a peu de pàgina i per acabar, fotografies que mostren moments de tota la vivència i parts rellevants del procés en general.

PHOTO STORE : Galeria virtual d'imatges

Ofereix a l'usuari la possibilitat de crear la seva pròpia galeria virtual d'imatges, i de classificar-les en àlbums dividits en categories per oferir una catalogació molt més específica. Els àlbums els subdividim públics per aque qualsevol visitant del web (registrat o no) pugui tenir la possibilitat d'accedir-hi,visualitzar i imprimir les fotos; o privats per a l'ús exclusiu de l'usuari que els publica.

Gestor de fotos geoetiquetades

En aquest treball de final de carrega s¿ha desenvolupat una aplicació que permet la gestió d¿imatges geoetiquetades publicades en els sistemes Flicker i PicasaWeb fent servir les tecnologies de Microsoft .NET i els serveis web que ofereixen les APIs públiques d¿aquestssistemes.

Aquest projecte ens portarà a construir producte de software que ens permeti gestionar des de la aplicació les fotos que tenim publicades a Flickr i Picasa.

Projecte Web "rando-Guyane"

Pàgina web presentant una recopilació de rutes GPS i informació, consells, experiències, fotos... relatius a les rutes i basats en l'experiència de fa molts anys dels excursionistes de la Guyana Francesa. Actualment aquesta informació es troba molt disseminada i conseqüentment és difícil de trobar. El lloc web ofereix aquesta informació de forma molt visual i precisa, amb la possibilitat de descàrrega de les rutes GPS per fer l'excursionisme més segur i accessible a tothom. El lloc web té una filosofia "wiki": són els usuaris els qui animen el contingut afegint i editant les rutes que conté.

Quantifying urban attractiveness from the distribution and density of digital footprints

In the past, sensors networks in cities have been limited to fixed sensors, embedded in particular locations, under centralised control. Today, new applications can leverage wireless devices and use them as sensors to create aggregated information. In this paper, we show that the emerging patterns unveiled through the analysis of large sets of aggregated digital footprints can provide novel insights into how people experience the city and into some of the drivers behind these emerging patterns. We particularly explore the capacity to quantify the evolution of the attractiveness of urban space with a case study of in the area of the New York City Waterfalls, a public art project of four man-made waterfalls rising from the New York Harbor. Methods to study the impact of an event of this nature are traditionally based on the collection of static information such as surveys and ticket-based people counts, which allow to generate estimates about visitors’ presence in specific areas over time. In contrast, our contribution makes use of the dynamic data that visitors generate, such as the density and distribution of aggregate phone calls and photos taken in different areas of interest and over time. Our analysis provides novel ways to quantify the impact of a public event on the distribution of visitors and on the evolution of the attractiveness of the points of interest in proximity. This information has potential uses for local authorities, researchers, as well as service providers such as mobile network operators.

Leveraging explicitly disclosed location information to understand tourist dynamics: a case study

In recent years, the large deployment of mobile devices has led to a massiveincrease in the volume of records of where people have been and when they were there.The analysis of these spatio-temporal data can supply high-level human behaviorinformation valuable to urban planners, local authorities, and designer of location-basedservices. In this paper, we describe our approach to collect and analyze the history ofphysical presence of tourists from the digital footprints they publicly disclose on the web.Our work takes place in the Province of Florence in Italy, where the insights on thevisitors’ flows and on the nationalities of the tourists who do not sleep in town has beenlimited to information from survey-based hotel and museums frequentation. In fact, mostlocal authorities in the world must face this dearth of data on tourist dynamics. In thiscase study, we used a corpus of geographically referenced photos taken in the provinceby 4280 photographers over a period of 2 years. Based on the disclosure of the locationof the photos, we design geovisualizations to reveal the tourist concentration and spatiotemporalflows. Our initial results provide insights on the density of tourists, the points ofinterests they visit as well as the most common trajectories they follow.

Silvèstrë: aplicació iOS per a la creació de ressenyes d'escalada

L'objectiu d'aquest projecte és traslladar tota la interacció social que trobem ens els gimnasos d'escalada a una plataforma mòbil com és l'iPhone. Utilitzant la càmera del dispositiu podem fer fotografies a una paret d'un gimnàs d'escalada i marcar les preses que formen part del bloc que ens acabem d'inventar, especificar les restriccions, dir en quin gimnàs es troba i compartir-les amb els nostres amics escaladors per a reptar-los o simplement per passar-ho bé. També serveix per a portar una mena de diari de escalades, per a saber quins blocs ja hem encadenat o quins blocs ens queden com a projectes.

Differences of Functional Connectivity Brain Network in Emotional Judgment

Using combined emotional stimuli, combining photos of faces and recording of voices, we investigated the neural dynamics of emotional judgment using scalp EEG recordings. Stimuli could be either combioned in a congruent, or a non-congruent way.. As many evidences show the major role of alpha in emotional processing, the alpha band was subjected to be analyzed. Analysis was performed by computing the synchronization of the EEGs and the conditions congruent vs. non-congruent were compared using statistical tools. The obtained results demonstrate that scalp EEG ccould be used as a tool to investigate the neural dynamics of emotional valence and discriminate various emotions (angry, happy and neutral stimuli).

Visualizing key authenticity: turning your face into your public key

La informació biomètrica s'ha convertit en una tecnologia complementària a la criptografia que permet administrar còmodament les dades criptogràfiques. Són útils dues necessitats importants: en primer lloc, posar aquestes dades sempre a mà i, a més, fent fàcilment identificable el seu legítim propietari. En aquest article es proposa un sistema que integra la signatura biomètrica de reconeixement facial amb un esquema de signatura basat en la identitat, de manera que la cara de l'usuari esdevé la seva clau pública i la ID del sistema. D'aquesta manera, altres usuaris poden verificar els missatges utilitzant fotos del remitent, proporcionant un intercanvi raonable entre la seguretat del sistema i la usabilitat, així com una manera molt més senzilla d'autenticar claus públiques i processos de distribució.
