Desenvolupament de dipòsits institucionals als Estats Units a partir de l'inici del 2005

Aquest article analitza la situació dels dipòsits institucionals als EUA mitjançant una enquesta realitzada per la CNI a les seves institucions acadèmiques. Amb aquesta enquesta s'obtingué informació sobre el grau d'implementació dels dipòsits i la seva extensió, així com del tipus de materials. A més, va servir per conèixer l'opinió de les institucions sobre els dipòsits, i va quedar palès que la major part de les que no en posseeixen, tenen previst posar-ne un en funcionament, tot i que els preocupi el cost de manteniment. L'article també tracta la responsabilitat administrativa dels dipòsits, les polítiques que els gestionen, la possibilitat de compartir dipòsits entre institucions i la procedència dels materials que contenen.

El Dios en la maleta. Análisis antropológico de las representaciones y prácticas religiosas de los ecuatorianos migrados a Bercelona y Nueva York

Nuestra investigación pretende abordar el estudio de la identidad católica ecuatoriana y su vivencia entre los migrantes residentes en Barcelona y New York. Cuando hablamos de identidad católica, pensamos en un determinado hábitat de sentido (Hannerz) o sistema cultural (Geertz) que satisface la sed de sentido de sus seguidores proveyéndoles de una determinada cosmovisión que éstos perciben como “emocionalmente convincente” (Geertz). A través de nuestra etnografía multisituada, desarrollada en Barcelona (6 meses), New York (6 meses) y Ecuador (3 meses), intentamos definir el tipo de influencia de este referente identitario en la manera de significar la realidad y de actuar de sus portadores, ante la experiencia de la movilidad y del encuentro con la alteridad. Para definir correctamente el influjo de este universo significativo en la experiencia migratoria vamos, paralelamente, a tratar de interpretar su “estructura significativa” (Geertz). En particular, reanudando los estudios propios de la Antropología de las Religiones (y el enfoque geertziano en la dimensión cultural de la religión), analizaremos sus creencias (sus mitos) y sus prácticas (los rituales); interpretándolos simbólicamente y analizando los efectos que estos dos diferentes niveles expresivos del universo católico (ecuatoriano) derraman tanto en la dimensión íntima del creyente, como en la social.

Graded algebra automorphisms

We consider the Clifford algebra C(q) of a regular quadratic space (V, q) over a field K with its structure of Z/2Z-graded K-algebra. We give a characterization of the group of graded automorphisms of C(q). In the last section we introduce the Z/nZ-graded algebras and we study as well as the group of graded automorphisms for some of them.

Large N phases, gravitational instantons and the nuts and bolts of AdS holography

Recent results in the literature concerning holography indicate that the thermodynamics of quantum gravity (at least with a negative cosmological constant) can be modeled by the large N thermodynamics of quantum field theory. We emphasize that this suggests a completely unitary evolution of processes in quantum gravity, including black hole formation and decay, and even more extreme examples involving topology change. As concrete examples which show that this correspondence holds even when the space-time is only locally asymptotically AdS, we compute the thermodynamical phase structure of the AdS-Taub-NUT and AdS-Taub-bolt spacetimes, and compare them to a (2+1)-dimensional conformal field theory (at large N) compactified on a squashed three-sphere and on the twisted plane.

Charged AdS black holes and catastrophic holography

We compute the properties of a class of charged black holes in antide Sitter space-time, in diverse dimensions. These black holes are solutions of consistent Einstein-Maxwell truncations of gauged supergravities, which are shown to arise from the inclusion of rotation in the transverse space. We uncover rich thermodynamic phase structures for these systems, which display classic critical phenomena, including structures isomorphic to the van der WaalsMaxwell liquid-gas system. In that case, the phases are controlled by the universal cusp and swallowtail shapes familiar from catastrophe theory. All of the thermodynamics is consistent with field theory interpretations via holography, where the dual field theories can sometimes be found on the world volumes of coincident rotating branes.

Holography, thermodynamics and fluctuations of charged AdS black holes
