A Besal (la Garrotxa) hi ha les restes dun mol fariner de rodet horitzontal que va deixar de funcionar a meitat del segle XX. Durant l'any 2004,lAjuntament de Besal va realitzat unes actuacions arqueolgiques a la zona dels horts, prxima al riu Fluvi, que han perms la redescoberta del Mol den Subirs, que est propulsat per la fora de laigua del canal de rec, que va parallel al riu.Actualment sestan duent a terme les obres de reconstrucci de ledifici del mol amb laintenci que torni a funcionar com ho feia antigament i convertir aquest espai en unpetit museu dedicat a aquest antic ofici, en lactualitat desaparegut. Per aix, cal reconstruir tots els elements que composen el mecanisme del mol. Per poder dur a terme aquesta feina amb el mxim rigor histric sha realitzat un treball dinvestigaci histrica i sha comparat amb molins existents a la comarca.Aquesta comparaci i anlisi de molins existents ha revelat la manca destudis tcnics sobre el rodet hidrulic tot i sser una de les parts fonamentals del mol. Daquesta forma, s desperar que un redisseny adequat del rodet permeti millorar de forma apreciable el rendiment hidrulic del mol.Sha dividit el projecte en dues parts: primer, hem definit els elements que composen el mecanisme del mol fariner hidrulic de rodet horitzontal i hem analitzat el seu funcionament. Segon, hem realitzat un estudi tcnic (hidrulic i mecnic) del rodet clssic(utilitzat en daltres molins de caracterstiques semblants). Daquesta forma, som capaos de conixer no noms el seu comportament hidrulic sin tamb com podem modificar les variables essencials del mecanisme com potncia hidrulica, parell motriu, etc

The main objective of this study was the management of corn stalk waste as reinforcement for polypropylene (PP) injection moulded composites as an alternative to wood flour and fibers. In the first step, corn stalk waste was subjected to various treatments, and four different corn stalk derivatives (flour and fibers) able to be used as reinforcement of composite materials were prepared and characterized. These derivatives are corn stalk flour, thermo-mechanical, semi-chemical, and chemical fibers. They were characterized in terms of their yield, lignin content, Kappa number, fiber length/diameter ratio, fines, coarseness, viscosity, and the length at the break of a standard sheet of paper. Results showed that the corn stalk derivatives have different physico-chemical properties. In the second step, the prepared flour and fibers were explored as a reinforcing element for PP composites. Coupled and non-coupled PP composites were prepared and tested for tensile properties. For overall trend, with the addition of a coupling agent, tensile properties of composites significantly improved, as compared with non-coupled samples. In addition, a morphological study revealed the positive effect of the coupling agent on the interfacial bonding. The composites prepared with semichemical fiber gave better results in comparison with the rest of the corn stalk derivatives due to its chemical characteristics

Harinera La Montserrat, S.A, a company involved in the manufacturing and trading of cereals and flour, was founded in Girona in 1898 by Jos Ensesa y Ca., Sociedad en Comandita. With the objective to determine how the product activity of this business was structured, we have studied in detail the operations that were carried out over the agricultural year 1903-1904. We have focused on three main aspects. Firstly, the purchasing of wheat (origin, transportation, prices); secondly, the production of flour (using internal and external wheat, profits); and thirdly, its distribution (customers, destination). Finally, we have analyzed the profit and loos account for this period in order to find out if this business was profitable

The present study arose from the need to determine inorganic arsenic (iAs) at low levels in cereal-based food. Validated methods with a low limit of detection (LOD) are required to analyse these kinds of food. An analytical method for the determination of iAs, methylarsonic acid (MA) and dimethylarsinic acid (DMA) in cereal-based food and infant cereals is reported. The method was optimised and validated to achieve low LODs. Ion chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LC-ICPMS) was used for arsenic speciation. The main quality parameters were established. To expand the applicability of the method, different cereal products were analysed: bread, biscuits, breakfast cereals, wheat flour, corn snacks, pasta and infant cereals. The total and inorganic arsenic content of 29 cereal-based food samples ranged between 3.7-35.6 and 3.1-26.0 microg As kg-1, respectively. The present method could be considered a valuable tool for assessing inorganic arsenic contents in cereal-based foods.

Pseudaletia ( Mythimna) unipuncta (Haworth) es una plaga defoliadora del maz presente ao tras ao en la Cuenca del Ebro, que realiza en el maz daos espordicos pero a veces devastadores. La implantacin creciente de maz resistente a taladros ha producido, en la zona del presente estudio, la disminucin casi total de los daos debidos a los taladros Sesamia nonagrioides (Lefebvre) y Ostrinia nubilalis (Hbner). Sin embargo, no se sabe an cmo el incremento de maz transgnico puede afectar a las poblaciones de P. unipuncta. Actualmente no hay datos sobre biologa o parmetros del desarrollo de la especie en la Pennsula Ibrica necesarios para evaluar los posibles efectos de las nuevas variedades utilizadas. Para ello es necesario primero establecer un mtodo de cra adecuado y posteriormente iniciar los estudios sobre la biologa de la misma. En el presente trabajo se plante conocer diferentes parmetros del desarrollo larvario de poblaciones locales de P. unipuncta alimentada sobre hoja de maz (variedades Tietar y PR33P66) y sobre dos dietas semisintticas, una a base de alubias. Phaseolus vulgaris, y otra a base de maz, Zea maya. Los resultados mostraron que las larvas desarrolladas en dieta a base de alubias sufrieron menor mortalidad, que las desarrolladas con planta o sobre la otra dieta, adems el peso de las pupas resultantes fue mayor y presentaron menos malformaciones. En cuanto al numero de estadios larvarios, la mayora pup tras seis mudas larvarias, necesitando, las de dieta de maz, estadios larvarios adicionales. Estos resultados indican que la dieta a base de alubias es la ms adecuada para posteriores trabajos con esta especie.

La lnea H-93-33, homocigota para el gen H27, que confiere resistencia a Mayetiola destructor Say, ha sido cruzada con variedades comerciales de trigo seleccionadas por su calidad harinera y sus caractersticas agronmicas. Esos cruzamientos han producido numerosas lneas avanzadas. La lnea Ma8, que contiene el gen H27, ha demostrado su resistencia al parsito en condiciones controladas de cmara y campo, y muestra mejores caractersticas agronmicas que las variedades comerciales con las que se ha cruzado.
