Was the Classical Tradition Betrayed by J. Ivory's adaptation of E. M. Forster's "Maurice"?

According to Literature and Film studies and from the point of view of the influence of Classical Tradition on Western Culture -Classical Greek Tradition, in this case-, this article is an accurate analysis of the inevitable -to a certain degree- screenwriters betrayals regarding the literary texts that they adapt. However, in spite of being practically inevitable, Dr. Pau Gilabert Barberà indicates which are in his opinion the limits beyond which Ivory/Hesketh-Harvey should have not gone in order not to dilute the Hellenic temper of E. M. Forster's Maurice.

Greek misogynist tradition in Andreas Capellanus's De amore

The title of this brief article quite clearly illustrates its aims and evident limitations. In principle, a search for a Greek basis of the misogynist content of Andreas Capellanus's De amore is likely to lead researchers to focus on analysis of the sources -Greek sources, of course. However, there is no doubt that Ovid, the most frequently quoted ancient author, in this case the structural source, above all his Ars Amatoria, Remedia Amoris and Heroides, which is quite logical in light of the remarkable presence and influence of Ovid's works throughout that time. There was also a good knowledge of the works of Cicero, Virgil, Horace and Juvenal. However, other classical authors, even the Greeks -those who were known then-, were undoubtedly read in the schools, but the knowledge of their works was certainly superficial. Furthermore, given the scholastic method followed in De amore, it would be absurd not to consider the use of many quotations that appeared in the Compendia and in handbooks of religious instruction.

En particular, l’anàlisi se centra en el relat de fons autobiogràfic No em dic Laura. Aquest text vehicula una dura crítica política, social i moral del Vic sotmès a la dictadura franquista. I, alhora, constitueix la millor mostra del vigatanisme crític que caracteritza l’autora.

Salir de la escuela: entre la tradición y la educación ambiental para la sostenibilidad = Excursions from school: between tradition and environmental education for sustainability

Las actividades escolares fuera del centro constituyen una marca de calidad del pasado y del presente educativo, y tienen que seguir siéndolo en el futuro. A partir de una investigación cualitativa se identifican las razones aducidas por enseñantes para salir del aula y, con ejemplos concretos, quedan plasmados algunos de los objetivos perseguidos, así como otros que se añaden a la propia actividad. Se identifican salidas vivenciales y otras más experimentales, se reconocen valores positivos, pero también se echa en falta un trabajo más coherente con los principios actuales de la educación ambiental. Precisamente esta educación es la propuesta como el camino a seguir para renovar objetivos, técnicas y procedimientos para salir del aula
