El present treball està estructurat al voltant de dos marcs teòrics: l’enoturisme i el turisme accessible, els quals es fusionen en una proposta d’introducció de l’accessibilitat al Museu de les Cultures del Vi de Catalunya. Estudi de les iniciatives d’enoturisme a Catalunya, la idoneïtat de la DO Penedès per a desenvolupar un producte d’aquest tipus i el cas d’estudi de desenvolupament local a les regions franceses d’Alsàcia i Borgonya. Formem part d’una societat canviant, on tot està en constat moviment. El turisme, ja no és només una font d’ingressos, sinó que és un corrent de nous costums, noves idees i noves formes de vida. Estem dins d’un territori on una de les claus és l’adaptació a la societat, aproximar al màxim possible l’oferta existent cap a la nova demanda, als nous mercats. L’activitat turística experimenta canvis, apareixen nous turistes i, per tant, es percep l’obligació de crear nous productes per satisfer noves necessitats. El projecte que es presenta, segueix aquesta idea. Prèviament s’ha investigat sobre segments de mercat poc treballats i s’ha estudiat la possibilitat d’adaptar l’oferta existent d’un territori concret per aquest nínxol. L’idea és definir amb màxima precisió el nínxol de mercat pel que es vol treballar, així com també tenir especial exactitud sobre el què oferir

La guia de contingut digital accessible està dissenyada per donar informació pas a pas sobre com estructurar, formatar i escriure un document realitzat amb Microsoft Word, OpenOffice Writer o Microsoft PowerPoint perquè siguin accessibles. Es descriu com transformar aquests documents a format PDF i mantenir, alhora, les seves propietats d’accessibilitat. També es descriuen aspectes d’accessibilitat que cal tenir en compte a l’hora d’introduir contingut web mitjançant les Sakai i OpenCMS.

Building a usable and accessible semantic web interaction platform

Semantic Web applications take off is being slower than expected, at least with respect to “real-world” applications and users. One of the main reasons for this lack of adoption is that most Semantic Web user interfaces are still immature from the usability and accessibility points of view. This is due to the novelty of these technologies, but this also motivates the exploration of alternative interaction paradigms, different from the “traditional” Web or Desktop applications ones. Our proposal is realized in the Rhizomer platform, which explores the possibilities of the object–action interaction paradigm at the Web scale. This paradigm is well suited for heterogeneous resource spaces such as those common in the Semantic Web. Resources, described by metadata, correspond to the objects in the paradigm. Semantic web services, which are dynamically associated to these objects, correspond to the actions. The platform is being put into practice in the context of a research project in order to build an open application for media distribution based on Semantic Web technologies. Moreover, its usability and accessibility have been evaluated in this real setting and compared to similar systems.

Planificació del vídeo accessible

Aquest document tracta els aspectes principals que cal preveure en la producció d’un vídeo accessible. Es ressegueixen les tres etapes que regeixen la creació de productes audiovisuals (planificació, producció i difusió) i es donen pautes per permetre introduir l’accessibilitat en cadascuna. Es repassa també la legislació principal sobre autoritzacions d’enregistrament i es donen així mateix consells sobre les llicències Creative Commons més recomanables per difondre el producte final.

Endogeneizing know-how flows through the nature of R&D investments

In this paper we carefully link knowledge flows to and from a firms innovation process with this firms investment decisions. Three types of investments are considered: investments in applied research, investments in basic research, and investments in intellectual property protection. Only when basic research is performed, can the firm effectively access incoming knowledge flows and these incoming spillovers serve to increase the efficiency of own applied research.. The firm can at the same time influence outgoing knowledge flows, improving appropriability of its innovations, by investing in protection. Our results indicate that firms with small budgets for innovation will not invest in basic research. This occurs in the short run, when the budget for know-how creation is restricted, or in the long-run, when market opportunities are low, when legal protection is not very important, or, when the pool of accessible and relevant external know-how is limited. The ratio! of basic to applied research is non-decreasing in the size of the pool of accessible external know-how, the size and opportunity of the market, and, the effectiveness of intellectual property rights protection. This indicates the existence of economies of scale in basic research due to external market related factors. Empirical evidence from a sample of innovative manufacturing firms in Belgium confirms the economies of scale in basic research as a consequence of the firms capacity to access external knowledge flows and to protect intellectual property, as well as the complementarity between legal and strategic investments.

Catalan Policies and Experiences on Cooperative Repositories

The Centre de Supercomputació de Catalunya (CESCA) together with the Consorci de Biblioteques Universitàries de Catalunya (CBUC) started in 1999 a cooperative repository, named TDR, to file in digital format the full-text of the read thesis at the universities of our country to spread them worldwide in open access preserving the intellectual copyright of the authors. This became operational in 2001 and today it is a service fully consolidated not only among the Catalan universities, but also used by other Spanish universities. Since then, there are four additional cooperative repositories which have been created: RECERCAT, for research papers; RACO, for scientific, cultural and erudite Catalan magazines; PADICAT, for archiving Catalan web sites; and MDC, for Catalan digital collections of pictures, maps, posters, old magazines... These five repositories have some common characteristics: they are open access, that is, they are accessible on the internet for free; they mostly comply with the Open Archive Initiative interoperability protocol for facilitating the efficient dissemination of content; and they have been built in a cooperative manner so that it is easy to adopt common procedures and to share the repository developing and managing costs, it permits more visibility of the indexed documents throughout the search engines, and a better provision for long-term preservation can be made. In this paper we present the common policy established for the Catalan cooperative repositories, we describe the five of them briefly, and we comment on the results obtained of our 6-year experience since the first one became operational.
