L'objectiu d'aquest treball consisteix a realitzar el disseny, construcció i finalment l'explotació d'un magatzem de dades (amb diversos informes) a partir de la informació d'una base de dades disponible amb dades estadístiques sobre jugadors de la NBA. Contem amb les dades proporcionades en una base de dades Access.

Consumption heterogenity over the business cycle

We study consumption heterogeneity over the business cycle. Using household panel data from 1984 to 2010 in the US we find that the welfare cost of the business cycle is non-negligible, once agents heterogeneity is taken into account, and sums to about 1% of yearly consumption. This is due to the structure of comovements between the different parts of the consumption distribution, in particular the tails are highly volatile and negatively related to each other. We also find that business cycle fluctuations originating from exogenous financial shocks only hit the top end of the consumption distribution and therefore reduce consumption inequality.

Measuring asymmetries in brand associations using correspondence analysis

Correspondence analysis is introduced in the brand associationliterature as an alternative tool to measure dominance, for theparticular case of free choice data. The method is also used to analysedifferences, or asymmetries, between brand-attribute associations whereattributes are associated with evoked brands, and brand-attributeassociations where brands are associated with the attributes. Anapplication to a sample of deodorants is used to illustrate the proposedmethodology.

Desarrollo de ecuaciones de flujo uniforme para ríos de grava

Con base en un conjunto de 904 datos hidrométricos pertenecientes a ríos de grava (de alienación no sinuosa desprovistos de cubierta vegetal significativa en el cauce y carentes de obstáculos) se han desarrollado un conjunto de ecuaciones en régimen uniforme que no requieren la estimación independiente de un coeficiente de resistencia, con la subsiguiente reducción de coste y esfuerzo de cálculo. Siempre que se respete estrictamente el rango experimental en el que rigen, las ecuaciones derivadas permiten una predicción de precisión equiparable a la de aquellos métodos basados en la determinación de un coeficiente de resistencia adecuado para el tramo de estudio.

Drosophilid collection in the Font Groga site, Barcelona (Spain)

During October 23rd and 24th and November 2012 we collected a sample of drosophilids at Font Groga (Barcelona). This site is located on the foothills of the Tibidabo mountain, which is located on the northwest edge of Barcelona and at approximately 400m above sea level. The vegetation is typical for the area, and it is mainly composed of a sparse pine forest (Pinus pinea) with some oaks (Quercus ilex) and Mediterranean brushwood. Flies were netted over 12 baits containing fermenting bananas. A large proportion of D. simulans males was found. The invasive species D. suzukii (Calabria et al. 2010; Cini et al. 2012) was detected in a non-negligible quantity. Taking into account the number of males and females, the estimated Ne for D. suzukii in the Font Groga sample was 33.70. A similar value was obtained for D. subobscura (34.97). Finally, in the study of species diversity the values obtained for H" (Shannon diversity index) and J (Shannon uniformity index) were 0.678 and 0.421, respectively. These estimates are very similar to those obtained in September 2009 in Montpellier by Calabria (2012), who reported H" = 0.679 and J = 0.422, but differ from those reported by the same author in a Font Groga sample of October 2007 (H" = 0.904 and J = 0.505).
