The article describes the structure, characteristics and features of programmes used to create teaching exercises, also known as "exercise generators". A description and an analysis are given of the main commercial programmes with these characteristics.

Eugeni d'Ors i les biblioteques: una aproximació a partir del Glosari

The article presents annotated selections of Eugeni d¿Ors comments concerning libraries and appearing in the newspaper, La veu de Catalunya, between 1906 and 1920. The selection from this Catalan author and politician focuses on two themes: the debate surrounding the creation of a library for scholars (1910) and the establishment of public libraries (1915).

Panoràmica dels sistemes de gestió de biblioteques al segle XXI

In the past decade, a number of trends have come together in the general sphere of computing that have profoundly affected libraries. The popularisation of the Internet, the appearance of open and interoperable systems, the improvements within graphics and multimedia, and the generalised installation of LANs are some of the events of the period. Taken together, the result has been that libraries have undergone an important functional change, representing the switch from simple information depositories to information disseminators. Integrated library management systems have not remained unaffected by this transformation and those that have not adapted to the new technological surroundings are now referred to as legacy systems. The article describes the characteristics of systems existing in today's market and outlines future trends that, according to various authors, include the disappearance of the integrated library management systems that have traditionally been sold.

Informe del seminari Library and Information Science Education in Europe: "Issues in joint curriculum development and Bologna perspectives" (Copenhaguen, Dinamarca, 11-12 d'agost de 2005)

Els dies 11 i 12 d'agost va tenir lloc a Copenhaguen, Dinamarca, el seminari de treball Library and Information Science Education in Europe: ¿Issues in joint curriculum development and Bologna perspectives¿. Aquest seminari, que va estar coordinat per la Royal School of Library and Information Science de Dinamarca, amb la col·laboració de l'European Association for Library and Information Education and Research (EUCLID), es va organitzar en el marc d'un projecte europeu subvencionat pel programa Sòcrates. La Facultat de Biblioteconomia i Documentació de la Universitat de Barcelona, present entre 2001 i 2005 en la Junta de Govern de l'EUCLID, va participar-hi com a soci del projecte. L'objectiu del seminari era aplegar una cinquantena d'experts europeus de l'àrea de Biblioteconomia i Documentació ¿tots ells professors d'escoles i de facultats d'universitats europees¿ per discutir qüestions relacionades amb els plans d'estudis dels ensenyaments des de la perspectiva del procés de Bolonya. El seminari consistí en dues conferències i en les reunions de treball de dotze grups formats per experts que examinaren dotze grans temes ¿prèviament acordats pels organitzadors de l'esdeveniment¿ relacionats amb els plans d'estudis d'aquells ensenyaments.

The article presents the requirements of written text to be read on the web, as well as the general recommendations for editing text aimed at facilitating its reading. After introducing the overview of reading of written text, techniques, and strategies, the author turns to factors that condition reading on the web, as well as other specifics. Based on these elements, a series of recommendations is offered for good practices for writing correctly for the web, organised by the three basic components of written text: style or tone, structure, and presentation (orthographic and typographic corrections). Also introduced are tools that can be useful for improving text editing in a corporate environment

Informe de les XI Jornadas Nacionales de Información y Documentación en Ciencias de la Salud (Terrassa, 6-8 d'octubre de 2005)

Organitzades per la Fundació Joan Costa Roma i pel Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa i amb el suport del Departament de Salut de la Generalitat de Catalunya, entre els dies 6 i 8 d'octubre se celebraren a Terrassa les XI Jornadas Nacionales de Información y Documentación en Ciencias de la Salud. Aquestes Jornadas, de caràcter biennal, són d'àmbit estatal i representen una bona oportunitat perquè els professionals de la informació que treballen en el camp biosanitari (hospitals, biblioteques universitàries, centres de recerca, agències d'avaluació, empreses de serveis d'informació, etc.) intercanviïn informacions i experiències sobre temes del seu interès.

La revista Biblioteconomía (1944-1976) o com l'anàlisi del contingut i els llenguatges documentals interessaven als professionals de l'època

Analysis of information on the classification and indexing of the entire run of Biblioteconomía (1944-1976), the bulletin of the School of Librarians of Barcelona. Selection criteria included items directly related to the issue at hand, such as documental languages (classifications and subject heading lists) and subject catalogues (in both alphabetic and shelf order). Although the intention was to achieve a comprehensive analysis, priority was given to the importance and value of the information selected. Only those items considered to be significant within the chosen theme were chosen.

Informe d'assistència al II Encuentro de Profesores de Biblioteconomía y Documentación (Jarandilla de la Vera, Cáceres, 24 i 25 de setembre de 1998)

L'Encuentro de Profesores Universitarios de Biblioteconomía y Documentación és una trobada que aplega els professors universitaris espanyols d'aquesta àrea de coneixement amb l'objectiu d'intercanviar experiències. En la primera edició es van prendre com a eix central de discussió els plans d'estudi de la llicenciatura. La segona trobada es va dedicar a la descripció de la situació la investigació en biblioteconomia i documentació a Espanya. Esporgar: per què, com i quan

Catalan libraries find themselves stretched to their limits due to the conflict between the traditional model of preserving and conserving knowledge and the pressures created by the constant expansion of the collection. A solution can be found in weeding the collection. This article first explains the legal and reglamentary framework in which weeding should take place, followed by a proposed planning method that suggests different criteria to be applied. A description is provided of practical aspects of organising a project and of evaluating results. The article concludes with various alternatives for final disposal of the documents to be withdrawn definitively. A selective, annotated bibliography is included.

The article offers an extrapolation based on the author's own experience, describing the main characteristics of projects undertaken by companies in the technological sector and the typical functions performed by consultants in this area. The principal objective is to introduce the profile of consultant as a potential employment niche for those graduates in Library and Information Science who would like to specialise in this area, once having acquired the complementary training that is needed
