Una Estratègia de desenvolupament sostenible per a l´Euroregió Pirineus-Mediterrània: orientacions bàsiques

The study presents sets out to formulate the necessary requirements for putting in place a strategy aimed at the sustainable development of the Pyreness-Mediterranean Euroregion. This is a cross-border regional cooperation project promoted by the former President of the Generalitat, Honorable Mr. Pasqual Maragall, which, in addition to Catalonia, includes Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. In the EU there are more than 70 Euroregions, bearing this or other names, which have been in existence for varying lenghts of time, having been set up by regions or local entities, or both

L'Àmbit urbà i periurbà de Rhode entre el 195 aC i el segle II dC

Aquest projecte de recerca es planteja, com a objectiu principal, elaborar una contextualització de Rhode entre el 195 aC i mitjan segle II dC. Es tracta d’assolir noves hipòtesis sobre el final relativament sobtat que pateix la fundació massaliota, quin són els motius del seu abandonament, si aquest es produeix totalment, quins fets porten a la recuperació d’aquest espai i quin paper pot jugar l'àmbit periurbà de Rhode durant tot aquest període. Alhora, es cerca posar en relació els esdeveniments que passen a Rhode amb el procés de romanització que pateix el territori

El proceso de transformación de la calle en la trama histórica de la ciudad de Hangzhou

El trabajo aborda las transformaciones de una área del centro histórico de la ciudad de Hangzhou desde el anàlisis de un elemento urbano significante en la cultura urbana china como es la calle. El análisis específico del nuevo Distrito de negocios, vecino al lago del Oeste, se plantea desde diferentes escalas urbanas y una visión sobre los acontecimientos históricos que configuraron el perfil de la ciudad desde la segunda mitad del siglo XIX hasta la actualidad.

Producción y Productividad Agrícolas en la Isla de Mallorca, 1590-1860

This paper proposes a detailed measurement of the agricultural development of the island of Majorca from the late sixteenth century to the midnineteenth century, with an emphasis on the products which made up the bulk of the island’s agricultural production. The authors have organized most of the existing databases in the island’s archives and have also incorporated quantitative and qualitative material from their own research and that of other colleagues. Due to their quality and regularity, the data are among the richest known for pre-industrial Europe. These sources lead to some conclusions which link with recent debates in European economic history concerning the calculation of economic growth in economies for periods before statistics were kept. The text presents a methodological analysis covering almost 80 per cent of agricultural production of the island of Majorca and leaves conclusions to be supplemented by further studies of the manufacturing and service sectors

Radial measures of public services deficit for regional allocation of public funds

The goal of this paper is to present an optimal resource allocation model for the regional allocation of public service inputs. Theproposed solution leads to maximise the relative public service availability in regions located below the best availability frontier, subject to exogenous budget restrictions and equality ofaccess for equal need criteria (equity-based notion of regional needs). The construction of non-parametric deficit indicators is proposed for public service availability by a novel application of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models, whose results offer advantages for the evaluation and improvement of decentralised public resource allocation systems. The method introduced in this paper has relevance as a resource allocation guide for the majority of services centrally funded by the public sector in a given country, such as health care, basic and higher education, citizen safety, justice, transportation, environmental protection, leisure, culture, housing and city planning, etc.
