Ressenya del llibre 'La arquitectura de la biblioteca: recomendaciones para un proyecto integral', de Santi Romero, eina imprescindible per a arquitectes i bibliotecaris davant la construcció d'una biblioteca, el seu ús i la integració en el territori. Per als primers, perquè trobaran la sistematització del seu treball a l'hora de dissenyar i planificar tots els espais de l'edifici. I per als segons, perquè especifica i desenvolupa les característiques ideals que hauria de tenir l'edifici, tant pel que fa a les seves funcions com per l'ús que en faran les persones que hi treballaran i els seus usuaris.

Como en muchos otros ámbitos profesio­nales, en el sector de las bibliotecas de pri­sión la existencia de unas directrices que sirvan de guía en la planificación de nuevas bibliotecas penitenciarias, así como en la evaluación y mejora de las ya existentes, es un elemento básico, aunque no el único, para conseguir un servicio bibliotecario de cali­dad.

Let's share perspectives! Mentalistic skills involved in cooperation = ¿A tu Izquierda o a la Mía? Habilidades Mentalistas Implicadas en la Cooperación

Previous research has found a link between theory of mind and cooperation. The aim of this study is to deepen into this relationship, to identify which theory of mind skills are more related to the cooperative capacity on a referential communication task. A total of 50 children from first and fifth grade completed a battery of theory of mind tasks, and also a cooperative task where children worked in pairs to build block models. Each pair was composed by a builder and a guide, who gave instructions to his partner about how to build a replica of the model. The results show a significant relationship between the theory of mind skills and cooperation. Specifically, we found that the second-order false-belief task was the variable most related to cooperation after controlling the effect of age. In addition, we observed that the mentalist skills were more important for cooperation in the builders than in the guides. Finally, we discuss the findings of this study and make suggestions for the future

A partir de la constatación de que la magnitud de la subnutrición constituye uno de los grandes problemas a escala planetaria para las organizaciones multilaterales de desarrollo, en este artículo se pretende (a) ofrecer una panorámica general de lo que las más recientes estimaciones estadísticas nos dicen del alcance del hambre en el mundo; (b) proponer una reflexión sobre las incongruencias de los diagnósticos emitidos por décadas para explicarla desde la Economía y la Sociología del Desarrollo, insistiendo en la recurrencia a la presión demográfica y al tradicionalismo como causas principales; (c) analizar las principales consecuencias de las líneas de intervención impulsadas a tenor de esos diagnósticos; y (d) sondear la viabilidad de quienes señalan razones estructurales profundas para explicar la persistencia de la subnutrición.

An open source browser-based software tool for graph drawing and visualisation

In this research work we searched for open source libraries which supports graph drawing and visualisation and can run in a browser. Subsequent these libraries were evaluated to find out which one is the best for this task. The result was the d3.js is that library which has the greatest functionality, flexibility and customisability. Afterwards we developed an open source software tool where d3.js was included and which was written in JavaScript so that it can run browser-based.

Empoderamiento de los ciudadanos desde la atención primaria: alfabetización sanitaria y prescripción web

La alfabetización y la prescripción web son claves para el empoderamiento de los paciente y deben promoverse desde la atención primaria. Los objetivos que se plantean son, entre otros, fomentar la proactividad y el diálogo entre los profesionales de la salud y la ciudadanía, y mejorar la calidad asistencial mediante un uso eficiente de los recursos.

L'evolució de la biblioteca de la UOC : perspectives de futur

La Biblioteca de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya ofereix els seus serveis de manera virtual des de la seva creació, l'any 1995. Per això, l'aposta per les noves tecnologies del moment ha estat una constant durant aquests anys. A continuació, a través d'una breu menció a l'evolució històrica, es comenten els serveis i recursos oferts de forma pionera a nivell de biblioteques universitàries. S'analitzen els aspectes més destacables pel que fa als serveis, la gestió de la col·lecció, la formació, i la relació amb la Universitat, en el moment actual. Per concloure, es fa una anàlisi dels principals reptes de futur que la Biblioteca espera afrontar en els propers anys, tenint com a referent principal els usuaris i les innovacions tecnològiques que permetin donar resposta a les noves necessitats que vagin sorgint. Tot això, per continuar sent capdavantera en l'àmbit de les biblioteques virtuals.

La cerca única, o com fer fàcil el camí a l'usuari

This paper presents a reflection on the need for libraries to think about how to facilitate access to the documentary sources they manage.As the number of resources available in electronic form increases, libraries are in the need to provide a simple and usable search tool that allows integrating the contents of the various information management systems they give access to.To define user expectations to the search interface, some of the features that they are accustomed to use in their requests for information on the Internet have been included.The technologies that allow the discovery layer implementation as a search tool that integrates the various information systems of the library are presented next. And below are some examples of implementations that work in line with the integration of various information sources into a single search engine, as models to consider for implementing a system of this kind.The purpose of it all is to present a state of the art of some cases of operational deployments as a starting point for any organization interested in improving access it offers to its resources on the basis of references study.

Customization, transparency and proximity: a user- centered content strategy applied to the design of a virtual library website

We present a case study of the redesign of the organizational presentation and content of the Virtual Library website at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia, UOC), based on a user-centered design strategy. The aim of the redesign was to provide users with more intuitive, usable and understandable content (textual content, resources and services) by implementing criteria of customization, transparency and proximity. The study also presents a selection of best practices for applying these criteria to the design of other library websites.

How to redesign a virtual library website: a case study

This abstract presents how we redesigned, with user-centred design methods, the way we organize and present the content on the UOC Virtual Library website. The content is now offered in a way that is more intuitive, usable and easy to understand, based on criteria of customization, transparency and proximity.The techniques used to achieve these objectives included benchmarking, interviews and focus groups during the user requirement capture phase and user tests to assess the process and results.

Informe de l'anàlisi realitzat sobre el nou web de la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC, mitjançant el mètode de test amb usuaris, per tal d'avaluar el grau d'usabilitat de la nova eina. L'anàlisi s'emmarca en el procés de disseny centrat en l'usuari que s'ha utilitzat per al seu disseny.
