Tanto el estrés cómo el Síndrome de Burnout, condicionados por factores demográficos, económicos, sociales y profesionales, afectan especialmente al colectivo médico y sobretodo a residentes. Se recogieron 154 residentes de Anestesiología que cumplimentaron tres cuestionarios : Malasch Burnout Inventory, índice de Reactividad al Estrés y Calidad de Vida Profesional. El 49,3% presentó Agotamiento Emocional alto y el 53,3% alta Despersonalización, presentando Burnout el 66,4%. El 47,9% tenía un Probable Trastorno de Estrés, y su valoración global de Calidad de Vida Profesional fue del 6,17 en una escala del 1 al 10. La incidencia de Burnout entre los residentes de Anestesiología de Cataluña es elevada, y casi la mitad de ellos probablemente padecen un trastorno de estrés.

In the last decades; a growing stock of literature has been devoted to the criticism of GDP as an indicator of societal wealth. A relevant question is: what are the perspectives to build, on the existing knowledge and consensus, alternative measures of prosperity? A starting point may be to connect well-being research agenda with the sustainability one. However, there is no doubt that there is a lot of complexity and fuzziness inherent in multidimensional concepts such as sustainability and well-being. This article analyses the theoretical foundations and the empirical validity of some multidimensional technical tools that can be used for well-being evaluation and assessment. Of course one should not forget that policy conclusions derived through any mathematical model depend also on the conceptual framework used, i.e. which representation of reality (and thus which societal values and interests) has been considered.

When one wishes to implement public policies, there is a previous need of comparing different actions and valuating and evaluating them to assess their social attractiveness. Recently the concept of well-being has been proposed as a multidimensional proxy for measuring societal prosperity and progress; a key research topic is then on how we can measure and evaluate this plurality of dimensions for policy decisions. This paper defends the thesis articulated in the following points: 1. Different metrics are linked to different objectives and values. To use only one measurement unit (on the grounds of the so-called commensurability principle) for incorporating a plurality of dimensions, objectives and values, implies reductionism necessarily. 2. Point 1) can be proven as a matter of formal logic by drawing on the work of Geach about moral philosophy. This theoretical demonstration is an original contribution of this article. Here the distinction between predicative and attributive adjectives is formalised and definitions are provided. Predicative adjectives are further distinguished into absolute and relative ones. The new concepts of set commensurability and rod commensurability are introduced too. 3. The existence of a plurality of social actors, with interest in the policy being assessed, causes that social decisions involve multiple types of values, of which economic efficiency is only one. Therefore it is misleading to make social decisions based only on that one value. 4. Weak comparability of values, which is grounded on incommensurability, is proved to be the main methodological foundation of policy evaluation in the framework of well-being economics. Incommensurability does not imply incomparability; on the contrary incommensurability is the only rational way to compare societal options under a plurality of policy objectives. 5. Weak comparability can be implemented by using multi-criteria evaluation, which is a formal framework for applied consequentialism under incommensurability. Social Multi-Criteria Evaluation, in particular, allows considering both technical and social incommensurabilities simultaneously.

Background: The aim of this report is to describe the main characteristics of the design, including response rates, of the Cornella Health Interview Survey Follow-up Study. Methods: The original cohort consisted of 2,500 subjects (1,263 women and 1,237 men) interviewed as part of the 1994 Cornella Health Interview Study. A record linkage to update the address and vital status of the cohort members was carried out using, first a deterministic method, and secondly a probabilistic one, based on each subject's first name and surnames. Subsequently, we attempted to locate the cohort members to conduct the phone follow-up interviews. A pilot study was carried out to test the overall feasibility and to modify some procedures before the field work began. Results: After record linkage, 2,468 (98.7%) subjects were successfully traced. Of these, 91 (3.6%) were deceased, 259 (10.3%) had moved to other towns, and 50 (2.0%) had neither renewed their last municipal census documents nor declared having moved. After using different strategies to track and to retain cohort members, we traced 92% of the CHIS participants. From them, 1,605 subjects answered the follow-up questionnaire. Conclusion: The computerized record linkage maximized the success of the follow-up that was carried out 7 years after the baseline interview. The pilot study was useful to increase the efficiency in tracing and interviewing the respondents.

Aquest treball té com a context un període clau de la Catalunya moderna, l’arc cronològic que s’obre entre 1585 a 1621 i comprèn l’etapa final del regnat de Felip I (II de Castella) i el regnat de Felip II (III): una època en què el país consolida un projecte polític entorn de les seves vigoroses institucions de legitimitat ascendent, erigides en contrapoder de la monarquia (Pérez Latre 2004).

El modest propòsit de la nostra participació en aquesta miscel·lània és posar de relleu dues importants resolucions adoptades al Reial Consell i Audiència de Catalunya a principi de la dècada de 1580, en relació amb discriminacions per motius de genealogia i de pretesa condició o sang jueva. Dóna fe de la rellevància de tals resolucions el fet que fossin comentades amb deteniment per dos autors de literatura jurídica cabdal com Lluís de Peguera (1540-1610) iJoan Pere Fontanella (1575-1649). Per bé que tinguessin trajectòries professionals molt dissímils –el primer seria ministre de la monarquia al Principat i el segon advocat de grans corporacions i particulars–, ambdós contribuirien a difondre sentències de les principals jurisdiccions del país i s’esplaiarien sobre llurs fonaments legals i doctrinals. És a dir, cultivarien, cadascú a la seva manera, el gènere ‘decisionista’ tan en boga a l’Europa moderna del ius commune tardà.
