Projecte per a l'organització de pràctiques professionals en turisme en forrnació virtual

L'objectiu del projecte és possibilitar que els estudiants de la diplomatura de turisme de la UOC puguin realitzar una pràctica laboral rigorosa i realista i que permeti desenvolupar les competències bàsiques en treball en equip i transversals en sostenibilitat aplicada a les destinacions turístiques. La pràctica docent consisteix en una simulació, per a entorn virtual d'aprenentatge que emula les diferents fases del treball de consultoria turística i l’aplicació dels resultats del les tasques col·laboratives a un treball orientat a objecte. Concretament el projecte està orientat a simular un treball de camp i a dissenyar i executar un pla estratègic per a la millora d'una destinació de naturalesa. La metodologia didàctica parteix de l’organització d'un treball en equip, cosa per la qual s'espera que els estudiants puguin cooperar entre si durant les fases del projecte. Amb el projecte es pretén aconseguir dotar als estudiants de mètodes i habilitats en sostenibilitat aplicada al turisme. Així com posar en pràctica els coneixements previs obtinguts en aquesta matèria. La simulació consisteix en la implementació d’estratègies per a millorar l’ús dels recursos turístics en una destinació real espanyola (el parc Natural de la Serra d'Espadà, a la província de Castelló), així com a crear una memòria final basada en la creació d'un pla estratègic per a la implementació d'accions basades en el turisme sostenible en l’àrea d'estudi.

Gaussian estimates for the density of the non-linear stochastic heat equation in any space dimension

In this paper, we establish lower and upper Gaussian bounds for the probability density of the mild solution to the stochastic heat equation with multiplicative noise and in any space dimension. The driving perturbation is a Gaussian noise which is white in time with some spatially homogeneous covariance. These estimates are obtained using tools of the Malliavin calculus. The most challenging part is the lower bound, which is obtained by adapting a general method developed by Kohatsu-Higa to the underlying spatially homogeneous Gaussian setting. Both lower and upper estimates have the same form: a Gaussian density with a variance which is equal to that of the mild solution of the corresponding linear equation with additive noise.

Entorn virtual d'agendes d'aprenentatge individualitzades

Les agendes d'aprenentatge han de servir als alumnes, com a eines de plani cació i seguiment de treball personal, en tant que hi poden trobar tota la informació necessària per al seguiment de totes les seves tasques. Així doncs, cal desenvolupar una nova eina, que faciliti aquesta tasca, donada la inexistència d'eines similars amb aquesta voluntat. S'ha desenvolupat una agenda d'aprenentatge mitjançant un calendari web on s'hi presenten totes les tasques d'una assignatura. Així l'alumne té consciència de tota la feina que ha de fer i li serveix com a guia educativa en un entorn de blended-learning.

Disseny d'un "museu virtual" per una sala d'exposicions mitjançant OpenGL

Aquest projecte tracta del disseny i implementació d’una aplicació gràfica que permeti visualitzar diferents exposicions de quadres que es realitzin a la sala d’exposicions de la Hemeroteca General de la UAB, gestionada pel col·lectiu “Cultura en Viu”. La utilitat ha sigut desenvolupada mitjançant la llibreria gràfica OpenGL i Microsoft Visual Studio. L’aplicació generada és també una eina de creació i manipulació d’exposicions al servei del usuari.

Candidate quality in a Downsian Model with a continuous policy space

This paper characterizes a mixed strategy Nash equilibrium in a one-dimensional Downsian model of two-candidate elections with a continuous policy space, where candidates are office motivated and one candidate enjoys a non-policy advantage over the other candidate. We assume that voters have quadratic preferences over policies and that their ideal points are drawn from a uniform distribution over the unit interval. In our equilibrium the advantaged candidate chooses the expected median voter with probability one and the disadvantaged candidate uses a mixed strategy that is symmetric around it. We show that this equilibrium exists if the number of voters is large enough relative to the size of the advantage.

Industrial Location and Space: New Insights

This paper tries to resolve some of the main shortcomings in the empirical literature of location decisions for new plants, i.e. spatial effects and overdispersion. Spatial effects are omnipresent, being a source of overdispersion in the data as well as a factor shaping the functional relationship between the variables that explain a firm’s location decisions. Using Count Data models, empirical researchers have dealt with overdispersion and excess zeros by developments of the Poisson regression model. This study aims to take this a step further, by adopting Bayesian methods and models in order to tackle the excess of zeros, spatial and non-spatial overdispersion and spatial dependence simultaneously. Data for Catalonia is used and location determinants are analysed to that end. The results show that spatial effects are determinant. Additionally, overdispersion is descomposed into an unstructured iid effect and a spatially structured effect. Keywords: Bayesian Analysis, Spatial Models, Firm Location. Scheduling in virtual infrastructure

For the execution of the scientific applications, different methods have been proposed to dynamically provide execution environments for such applications that hide the complexity of underlying distributed and heterogeneous infrastructures. Recently virtualization has emerged as a promising technology to provide such environments. Virtualization is a technology that abstracts away the details of physical hardware and provides virtualized resources for high-level scientific applications. Virtualization offers a cost-effective and flexible way to use and manage computing resources. Such an abstraction is appealing in Grid computing and Cloud computing for better matching jobs (applications) to computational resources. This work applies the virtualization concept to the Condor dynamic resource management system by using Condor Virtual Universe to harvest the existing virtual computing resources to their maximum utility. It allows existing computing resources to be dynamically provisioned at run-time by users based on application requirements instead of statically at design-time thereby lay the basis for efficient use of the available resources, thus providing way for the efficient use of the available resources.

CINE-SYS: aplicación web para una comunidad virtual de cine

Este proyecto es la realización de una aplicación web para una comunidad virtual de cine, cuyo objetivo es crear un punto de encuentro entre todos los usuarios que visiten la web.

Entorn virtual d'aprenentatge per una escola de secundària

Implementarem un Entorn Virtual d’Aprenentatge (EVA) per a l'escola Arrels-Blanquerna de Badalona. Instal·larem un Moodle perquè els alumnes puguin reforçar els aprenentatges adquirits a les classes i realitzar activitats proporcionades pel docent. Farem servir les eines que proporciona GoogleApps per l’elaboració i modificació dels diferents documents que es facin servir, i per la comunicació a través de correu electrònic. Per últim, construirem una pàgina web amb el programari Joomla! que serà útil per penjar noticies relacionades amb el projecte eduCAT1x1 i com a punt d’enllaç amb les diferents plataformes.

Aerotropolis: an aviation-linked space

This paper examines the conditions allowing the formation of aeropolitan areas as large industrial areas with a high concentration of commercial activities in the proximity of selected airports. We assume that firms deliver their production by plane and land competition takes place among service operators, firms and farmers. Service operators supply facilities that firms can absorb. Our framework identifies a unique land equilibrium characterized by the spatial sequence Airport - Industrial park - Rural area (A-I-R). Aerotropolis-type configurations are associated with the level of transport costs and the degree of intensity of facilities. Keywords: aerotropolis; facilities; bid-rent function. New pre-dual space of Morrey space

In this paper we give new characterization of the classical Morrey space. Complementary global Morrey-type spaces are introduced. It is proved that for particular values of parameters these spaces give new pre-dual space of the classical Morrey space. We also show that our new pre-dual space of the Morrey space coincides with known pre-dual spaces.

Tratamiento psicológico del dolor através de entornos de realidad virtual

Proyecto de investigación de una estancia en el Università degli Studi de Padova, Italia, durante noviembre del 2007. El objetivo principal ha sido desarrollar entornos de realidad virtual para el tratamiento del dolor agudo mejorando las propiedades gráficas de los mundos virtuales. La participación en las diferentes líneas de Investigación en el laboratorio de tecnología humana ha permitido la aplicación de nuevas tecnologías en el estudio del dolor.

On separation of a degenerate differential operator in Hilbert space

A coercive estimate for a solution of a degenerate second order di fferential equation is installed, and its applications to spectral problems for the corresponding dif ferential operator is demonstrated. The suffi cient conditions for existence of the solutions of one class of the nonlinear second order diff erential equations on the real axis are obtained.

Cibernautes de la memòria : la construcció de la memòria col·lectiva de la guerra civil espanyola a través de la participació en espais virtuals de comunicació. El cas de la llista de distribució "Guerra Civil Española"

El present treball fa una anàlisi de la construcció, presència i reivindicació de la memòria col·lectiva de la guerra civil espanyola a internet mitjançant l'anàlisi etnogràfic de les interaccions i pràctiques en un espai de comunicació virtual: el de la llista de distribució "Guerra Civil Española". Aquest estudi de cas es contextualitza en el marc d'un doble escenari global i local, el context global de la cultura de la memòria a la societat de la informació i el context local de la dinàmica de la presència de la memòria de la guerra civil a l'entorn social i polític de l'Estat Espanyol al llarg dels darrers 30 anys.
