Aquest projecte MQD va servir per crear nou material docent amb un suport digital per a dues assignatures – Política Comparada i Avaluació de la Gestió Pública – en dues llicenciatures diferents – Ciència Política i Periodisme – Un element clau va ser la participació dels estudiants. En ambdós casos, la forma d’ensenyar va canviar de forma substantiva ja que es va dedicar força temps a fer que els estudiants treballessin en el producte final. La principal idea al darrera d’aquesta experiència era que aprenguéssin “fent.” Una altra idea fonamental és que el seu treball es pugui ensenyar per internet a tothom que tingui interès. La utilització d’una pàgina web va donar visibilitat externa al seu treball. Els resultats es poden consultar a http://cpdp.uab.cat/politica/ i http://cpdp.uab.cat/evaluacio/. Aquesta experiència va ser inclosa en el llibre "Cap a l’EEES. Experiències docents innovadores a ciències socials i a ciències humanes" publicat per la UAB.

In this paper we simulate and analyse the economic impact that sectorial productivity gains have on two regional Spanish economies (Catalonia and Extremadura). In particular we study the quantitative effect that each sector’s productivity gain has on household welfare (real disposable income and equivalent variation), on the consumption price indices and factor relative prices, on real production (GDP) and on the government’s net income (net taxation revenues of social transfers to households). The analytical approach consists of a computable general equilibrium model, in which we assume perfect competition and cleared markets, including factor markets. All the parameters and exogenous variables of the model are calibrated by means of two social accounting matrices, one for each region under study. The results allow us to identify those sectors with the greatest impact on consumer welfare as the key sectors in the regional economies. La recerca Atenció Primària: una aproximació a l'experiència vital de l'educand com a element educatiu, posa de relleu la importància de l'experiència viscuda en un individu com a element motivador i capacitador de les pròpies expectatives personals, de les ganes de superació en el procés educatiu que s'està duent a terme entre l'educador o educadora i l'educand com a subjecte de l'experiència. El treball que presento vol ser una primera aproximació a un element tan important com és l'experiència vital de l'educand. Preguntes com quin paper juga l'experiència, el record, la posada en pràctica i la seva recuperació, sempre des d'un punt de vista educatiu i no terapèutic, són les que m'he plantejat en la recerca. Exploro com la recuperació d’allò que cadascú viu com a bon saber i posar-lo en pràctica de nou, pot ser un element facilitador en el procés educatiu. Reflexionar sobre unes accions ja realitzades és tornar-les a pensar des d'una memòria reflexiva, perquè no comencem de zero, sinó que comencem des d'aquella acció que en el seu moment ja ens va dur a un resultat positiu. Suposa aprendre a pensar millor, a utilitzar el pensament com un processador de la experiència i la informació. L’educador/a social, en aquesta relació, fa “de mirall” del propi educand, ajudant a sortir-se'n, acompanyant-lo en el recorregut de l'aprenentatge.

The two main alternative methods used to identify key sectors within the input-output approach, the Classical Multiplier method (CMM) and the Hypothetical Extraction method (HEM), are formally and empirically compared in this paper. Our findings indicate that the main distinction between the two approaches stems from the role of the internal effects. These internal effects are quantified under the CMM while under the HEM only external impacts are considered. In our comparison, we find, however that CMM backward measures are more influenced by within-block effects than the proposed forward indices under this approach. The conclusions of this comparison allow us to develop a hybrid proposal that combines these two existing approaches. This hybrid model has the advantage of making it possible to distinguish and disaggregate external effects from those that a purely internal. This proposal has also an additional interest in terms of policy implications. Indeed, the hybrid approach may provide useful information for the design of ''second best'' stimulus policies that aim at a more balanced perspective between overall economy-wide impacts and their sectoral distribution.

Smarthistory.org is a proven, sustainable model for open educational resources in the Humanities. We discuss lessons learned during its agile development. Smarthistory.org is a free, creative-commons licensed, multi-media web-book designed as a dynamic enhancement or substitute for the traditional art history textbook. It uses conversation instead of the impersonal voice of the typical textbook in-order to reveal disagreement, emotion, and the experience of looking. The listener remains engaged with both the content and the interaction of the speakers. These conversations model close looking and a willingness to encounter and engage the unfamiliar. Smarthistory takes the inherent dialogic and multimedia nature of the web and uses it as a pedagogical method. This extendable Humanities framework uses an open-source content management system making Smarthistory inexpensive to create, and easy to manage and update. Its chronological timeline/chapter-based format integrates new contributions into a single historical framework, a structure applicable across the Humanities.

This research studies from an internal view based on the Competency-Based Perspective (CBP), key organizational competencies developed for small new business. CBP is chosen in an attempt to explain the differences characterizing the closed companies from the consolidated ones. The main contribution of this paper is the definition of a set of key organizational competencies for new ventures from services and low technology based sectors. Using the classification proposed by [1] and a review of the entrepreneurship literature, the main competencies were defined and classified as: managerial, input-based, transformation-based, and output-based competencies. A joint distribution of two discrete random variables with finite support can be displayed as a two way table of probabilities adding to one. Assume that this table hasn rows and m columns and all probabilities are non-null. This kind of table can beseen as an element in the simplex of n · m parts. In this context, the marginals areidentified as compositional amalgams, conditionals (rows or columns) as subcompositions. Also, simplicial perturbation appears as Bayes theorem. However, the Euclideanelements of the Aitchison geometry of the simplex can also be translated into the tableof probabilities: subspaces, orthogonal projections, distances.Two important questions are addressed: a) given a table of probabilities, which isthe nearest independent table to the initial one? b) which is the largest orthogonalprojection of a row onto a column? or, equivalently, which is the information in arow explained by a column, thus explaining the interaction? To answer these questionsthree orthogonal decompositions are presented: (1) by columns and a row-wise geometric marginal, (2) by rows and a columnwise geometric marginal, (3) by independenttwo-way tables and fully dependent tables representing row-column interaction. Animportant result is that the nearest independent table is the product of the two (rowand column)-wise geometric marginal tables. Aquest treball final de carrera és un estudi del reforç d’un element estructural de formigó per mitjà de fibres FRP. Podem assimilar-lo a una guia pràctica per tal que un enginyer ambconeixements de construcció, pugui reforçar un membre que ha sofert danys produïts peraguantar càrregues, oscil·lacions, etc.per les que no havia estat dissenyat. El projecte conté teoria del FRP per tal de conèixer el material que utilitzarem pel nostre reforç, les normatives i prenormatives que s’utilitzen per fer el disseny, i un exemple pràctic de càlcul del reforç d’una biga sotmesa a flexió i el confinament d’un pilar, que són les dues opcions més utilitzades per reforçar amb FRP. El reforç d’estructures de formigó és el camp de la construcció on més ràpidament i amb major èxit s’estan aplicant els reforços amb FRP, degut a les propietats tant avantatjoses que presenten, entre altres, resistència a la corrosió i lleugeresa, que es tradueix en estalvi de transport i posada en obra

This paper identifies the key sectors in greenhouse gas emissions of the Uruguayan economy through input-output analysis. This allows to precisely determine the role played by the different productive sectors and their relationship with other sectors in the relation between the Uruguayan productive structure and atmospheric pollution. In order to guide policy design for GHG reduction, we decompose sectors liability between the pollution generated through their own production processes and the pollution indirectly generated in the production processes of other sectors. The results show that all the key polluting sectors for the different contaminants considered are relevant because of their own emissions, except for the sector Motor vehicles and oil retail trade, which is relevant in CO2 emissions because of its pure, both backward and forward, linkages. Finally, the best policy channels for controlling and reducing GHGs emissions are identified, and compared with the National Climate Change Response Plan (NCCRP) lines of action.

Stone groundwood (SGW) is a fibrous matter commonly prepared in a high yield process, and mainly used for papermaking applications. In this work, the use of SGW fibers is explored as reinforcing element of polypropylene (PP) composites. Due to its chemical and superficial features, the use of coupling agents is needed for a good adhesion and stress transfer across the fiber-matrix interface. The intrinsic strength of the reinforcement is a key parameter to predict the mechanical properties of the composite and to perform an interface analysis. The main objective of the present work was the determination of the intrinsic tensile strength of stone groundwood fibers. Coupled and non-coupled PP composites from stone groundwood fibers were prepared. The influence of the surface morphology and the quality at interface on the final properties of the composite was analyzed and compared to that of fiberglass PP composites. The intrinsic tensile properties of stone groundwood fibers, as well as the fiber orientation factor and the interfacial shear strength of the current composites were determined

In the finite field (FF) treatment of vibrational polarizabilities and hyperpolarizabilities, the field-free Eckart conditions must be enforced in order to prevent molecular reorientation during geometry optimization. These conditions are implemented for the first time. Our procedure facilities identification of field-induced internal coordinates that make the major contribution to the vibrational properties. Using only two of these coordinates, quantitative accuracy for nuclear relaxation polarizabilities and hyperpolarizabilities is achieved in π-conjugated systems. From these two coordinates a single most efficient natural conjugation coordinate (NCC) can be extracted. The limitations of this one coordinate approach are discussed. It is shown that the Eckart conditions can lead to an isotope effect that is comparable to the isotope effect on zero-point vibrational averaging, but with a different mass-dependence

This paper introduces Collage, a high-level IMS-LD compliant authoring tool that is specialized for CSCL (Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning). Nowadays CSCL is a key trend in elearning since it highlights the importance of social interactions as an essential element of learning. CSCL is an interdisciplinary domain, which demands participatory design techniques that allow teachers to get directly involved in design activities. Developing CSCL designs using LD is a difficult task for teachers since LD is a complex technical specification and modelling collaborative characteristics can be tricky. Collage helps teachers in the process of creating their own potentially effective collaborative Learning Designs by reusing and customizing patterns, according to the requirements of a particular learning situation. These patterns, called Collaborative Learning Flow Patterns (CLFPs), represent best practices that are repetitively used by practitioners when structuring the flow of (collaborative) learning activities. An example of an LD that can be created using Collage is illustrated in the paper. Preliminary evaluation results show that teachers, with experience in CL but without LD knowledge, can successfully design real collaborative learning experiences using Collage.

In a distributed key distribution scheme, a set of servers helps a set of users in a group to securely obtain a common key. Security means that an adversary who corrupts some servers and some users has no information about the key of a noncorrupted group. In this work, we formalize the security analysis of one such scheme which was not considered in the original proposal. We prove the scheme is secure in the random oracle model, assuming that the Decisional Diffie-Hellman (DDH) problem is hard to solve. We also detail a possible modification of that scheme and the one in which allows us to prove the security of the schemes without assuming that a specific hash function behaves as a random oracle. As usual, this improvement in the security of the schemes is at the cost of an efficiency loss.

El Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior implica cambios organizativos y académicos referentes a la formación basada en competencias. El proyecto AlineaME, coordinado por la Unidad de Soporte a la Calidad y la Innovación Docente de la Escuela Superior Politécnica - Universidad Pompeu Fabra, propuso a docentes del área TIC y a pedagogos la reflexión conjunta en aras a diseñar recomendaciones centradas en la alineación entre los tres elementos clave del proyecto: competencias, metodología y evaluación (C*M*E). Este trabajo recoge tres casos de aplicación de recomendaciones, concretamente de Ingeniería Telemática (dos casos - Universidad de Valladolid y Pompeu Fabra) y de Ingeniería Técnica en Informática de Gestión (un caso - Universidad de Sevilla).Las recomendaciones aplicadas hacen referencia a la necesidad de explicitar la alineación C*M*E en los Planes Docentes de Asignaturas y de presentar esta alineación al estudiantado. También a la integración de la evaluación de la asignatura como tarea-proceso de aprendizaje. La metodología seguida para laaplicación de ambas es (salvo pequeñas diferencias) parecida en los tres casos. La primera recomendación consistió en recoger en el Plan Docente la Alineación y en verbalizar dicha alineación en la sesión de presentación de la asignatura. La segunda se incorporó incluyendo actividades formativas en las que se favorecía la evaluación entre iguales. Para evaluar la aplicación de recomendaciones se recogieron evidencias en clave de satisfacción por parte del estudiantado así como valoraciones de los propios docentes. Para ello se diseñaron instrumentos específicos.En cuanto a la presentación de la alineación C*M*E en los Planes Docentes de asignaturas, los resultados indican que los alumnos son más conscientes de qué, cómo y por qué van a trabajar y ser evaluados. Globalmente valoran positivamente su utilidad para la autorregulación. Asimismo, plantear la evaluación como tarea deaprendizaje resultó ser para los estudiantes un interesante elemento de reflexión.

In this paper we argue that socially responsible policies have a positive impact on a firm's brand equity in the short-term as well as in the long-term. Moreover, once we distinguish between different stakeholders, we posit that secondary stakeholders such as community are even more important than primary stakeholders (customers, shareholders, workers and suppliers) in generating brand equity. Policies aimed at satisfied community interests act as a mechanism to reinforce trust that gives further credibility to social responsible polices with other stakeholders. The result is a decrease in conflicts among stakeholders and greater stakeholder willingness to provide intangible resources that enhance brand equity. We provide support of our theoretical contentions making use of a panel data composed of 57 firms from 10 countries (the US, Japan, South Korea, France, the UK, Italy, Germany, Finland, Switzerland and the Netherlands) for the period 2002 to 2007. We use detailed information on brand equity obtained from Interbrand and on corporate social responsibility (CSR) provided by the SiRi Global Profile database, as compiled by the Sustainable Investment Research International Company (SiRi).
