L'aportació de Tomàs Cerdà en la introducció del càlcul diferencial i integral a l'Espanya del segle XVIII

El desenvolupament del càlcul diferencial i integral com a disciplina científica a Europa durant el segle XVIII no és un tema nou. Però s’ha acostumat a enfocar la visió d’aquesta formació molt sovint des del “centre” i a partir de les grans figures com Isaac Newton o Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. En el present treball el protagonista potser, per a molts, no és una figura de primera línia; Tomàs Cerdà, és un ensenyant a Barcelona i a Madrid durant la segona meitat del segle XVIII, que “tradueix” al castellà autors anglesos, però que amb la seva pràctica està realment introduint el nou càlcul a Espanya i donant, de fet, una orientació d’aquesta nova disciplina als seus deixebles. El com i per què Cerdà decideix quin serà el seu guia en la introducció del càlcul diferencial i integral i quines seran les seves pròpies aportacions en aquesta labor seran els temes centrals del nostre treball. La nostra tasca ha anat, així doncs, a entendre millor, el procés de divulgació del coneixement científic, veient-lo en tot moment com formant part activa del mateix procés de construcció d’aquest coneixement.

GesRetail : software de gestión integral

El proyecto surge con el fin de crear una aplicación que responda a las necesidades de gestión y control de las actividades que se desarrollan en empresas minoristas dedicadas al sector de la electrónica de consumo. Este tipo de establecimientos aunque están muy especializados y proporcionan un trato excelente al público, suelen tener deficiencias técnicas a la hora de gestionar y controlar su negocio. Muchos de ellos carecen de programas informáticos adaptados a sus necesidades, e incluso en algún caso no disponen de ninguno por el alto coste que les supone. Dicho software tiene dos objetivos: por un lado atender las necesidades de este sector y por otro que el desembolso de la adquisición e implantación del mismo sea asequible. Para conseguir este último objetivo se utilizará software libre.

Gestión integral de un concesionario

El trabajo consiste en el desarrollo de una aplicación en .NET que gestiona los diferentes concesionarios que tiene un grupo automovilístico, sus departamentos y sus trabajadores. El resultado es una única aplicación de escritorio desarrollada en Windows Forms que integra las diferentes funcionalidades asociadas al departamento de ventas y taller.

Adaptive integral assessment package for the A2UN@ project

This paper presents a first approach of Evaluation Engine Architecture (EEA) as proposal to support adaptive integral assessment, in the context of a virtual learning environment. The goal of our research is design an evaluation engine tool to assist in the whole assessment process within the A2UN@ project, linking that tool with the other key elements of a learning design (learning task, learning resources and learning support). The teachers would define the relation between knowledge, competencies, activities, resources and type of assessment. Providing this relation is possible obtain more accurate estimations of student's knowledge for adaptive evaluations and future recommendations. The process is supported by usage of educational standards and specifications and for an integral user modelling

Hours worked - Productivity puzzle: identification in fractional integration settings

A recent finding of the structural VAR literature is that the response of hours worked to a technology shock depends on the assumption on the order of integration of the hours. In this work we relax this assumption, allowing for fractional integration and long memory in the process for hours and productivity. We find that the sign and magnitude of the estimated impulse responses of hours to a positive technology shock depend crucially on the assumptions applied to identify them. Responses estimated with short-run identification are positive and statistically significant in all datasets analyzed. Long-run identification results in negative often not statistically significant responses. We check validity of these assumptions with the Sims (1989) procedure, concluding that both types of assumptions are appropriate to recover the impulse responses of hours in a fractionally integrated VAR. However, the application of longrun identification results in a substantial increase of the sampling uncertainty. JEL Classification numbers: C22, E32. Is the observed persistence spurious? A test for fractional integration versus short memory and structural breaks

Although it is commonly accepted that most macroeconomic variables are nonstationary, it is often difficult to identify the source of the non-stationarity. In particular, it is well-known that integrated and short memory models containing trending components that may display sudden changes in their parameters share some statistical properties that make their identification a hard task. The goal of this paper is to extend the classical testing framework for I(1) versus I(0)+ breaks by considering a a more general class of models under the null hypothesis: non-stationary fractionally integrated (FI) processes. A similar identification problem holds in this broader setting which is shown to be a relevant issue from both a statistical and an economic perspective. The proposed test is developed in the time domain and is very simple to compute. The asymptotic properties of the new technique are derived and it is shown by simulation that it is very well-behaved in finite samples. To illustrate the usefulness of the proposed technique, an application using inflation data is also provided.
