Some of the challenges and experiences of formal education in a Mobile-Centric Society (MCS) = Algunos retos y experiencias de la educación formal en la Sociedad Móvil-Céntrica (SMC)

The aim of the paper is to describe some of the challenges faced by schools, or by formal education in general, as a consequence of today"s mobilecentric society (henceforth MCS), the term we will use to denote the new, networked learning ecology that has arisen from the massive penetration of digital media in everyday life. After revisiting some of the ideas of McLuhan and Vygotsky in the light of this new technological scenario, we describe five traits of the MCS and the challenges illustrated through educational practices that we believe schools will face if they wish to preserve their function of individualization and socialization. We believe that despite the emergence of the MCS, the main function of the school is still to provide the"box of tools" (a set of psychological instruments, such as reading, writing, mathematical notation, digital literacy, etc.) that enables people to develop their learning skills and life projects and to become part of communities and groups. However, the complexity and mobility of the new learning environments means that the position held by schools needs to be reevaluated in the face of the informal learning paths and experiences both online and offline to which learners now have access. We also need to reevaluate the meaning of the school itself as an institution and the model of learner it should be training

Proyecto de abastecimiento a las poblaciones de Térmens y Menàrguens desde el sistema del Canal de Piñana

Este proyecto resuelve el precario sistema de abastecimiento de agua potable actual de las poblaciones de Térmens y Menàrguens sustituyéndolo por otro nuevo, que utiliza aguas del sistema del canal de Piñana, en concreto de la tubería de abastecimiento a Lleida que actualmente se está ejecutando en su segunda fase. Se llega a la solución mediante dos tuberías de fundición dúctil una para cada localidad que llenan los depósitos ya existentes, además se ponen las bases del sistema de telegestión que deberá integrarse en la red general que se construirá en la fase que se está construyendo en la actualidad.

Concentració parcel·lària de la zona regable del canal Segarra-Garrigues afectada per la xarxa Natura 2000 al nucli de La Figuerosa, terme municipal de Tàrrega (Urgell)

Aquest projecte final de carrera pretén realitzar la concentració parcel·lària d’una zona de 1.421,4476 hectàrees afectada per una zepa (zona especial de protecció d’aus) i que alhora és regable pel canal segarra-garrigues, al terme municipal de Tàrrega (Urgell), i més concretamente als voltants del nucli de la Figuerosa. La concentración parcel·lària és un procediment de reorganització de la propietat jurídica i pretén millorar la viabilitat económica de les explotacions, ja que moltes d’elles presenten nombroses parcel·les distribuïdes pel territorio. Alhora, la CP puposa ajustar l’estructura i dimensión de les finques i per tant els costos d’explotació dels propietaris beneficiats.

Manifest de Vallbona: una proposta d’ús de l’aigua per al segle XXI. Convertir un projecte hidràulic (canal Segarra-Garrigues) en un projecte territorial

Pocs saben que el canal Segarra-Garrigues i les obres de transformació en regadiu que l’acompanyen representen avui dia la segona inversió pública més important de Catalunya. Malgrat l’enorme inversió que s’està fent, aquesta obra, que ha d’abastar unes 70.000 ha a les comarques de Lleida, ha estat concebuda a imatge de les grans obres hidràuliques del segle xix i xx, i planteja molts dubtes sobre la incidència econòmica real que tindrà. Des del mateix territori, l’anomenat Manifest de Vallbona posa sobre la taula des del 2004 un nou tipus de canal que respongui a les necessitats reals de desenvolupament del territori i a les sensibilitats de la nova cultura de l’aigua.

Sistemas agrícolas de la plana de Lleida: descripción y evaluación de los sistemas de producción en el área del canal Segarra-Garrigues antes de su puesta en funcionamiento

Aquesta publicació és el recull d’un de les treballs dins del projecte “STEPPE-AHEAD: Steppe-land birds, agriculture practices and economic viability: towards the conservation of Threatened species in humanised landscapes”, concedit i finançat per la Fundació General CSIC entre els anys 2011 – 2014, amb l’objectiu de proporcionar noves propostes de sistemes per a la conservació d’aus estepàries en zones agrícoles. La proposta del projecte es basa en l’estudi, en una primera fase, del coneixement dels sistemes agrícoles i els seus sistemes de producció avaluant la seva sostenibilitat ambiental i econòmica. La finalitat és poder desenvolupar estratègies que compatibilitzin l’activitat agrícola amb la conservació de la biodiversitat i en aquest cas especial amb el de les aus estepàries.

Algoritmos interactivos para la separación de fuentes y deconvolución de canal mediante Java

El objetivo de estos programas es crear una herramienta que nos permita, de una manera fácil, entender mejor la separación de fuentes y la deconvolución de canal . Por eso se presenta el diseño, mediante Java, de una página web [1]: http//www.uvic.es/projectes/SeparationSources con carácter marcadamente didáctico para el estudio y evaluación de diferentes algoritmos propuestos en la bibliografía.

El 1er Mini Foray de la British Mycological Society a Catalunya (1985)

Es presenten els resultats del ler «Mini Foray» de la British Mycological Society a Catalunya, celebrat a Viladrau (Girona) a la tardor de 1985, amb visites a diverses localitats del Vallès Oriental, Baix Llobregat, Ripollès, La Selva i Osona. Es van recol lectar un total de 407 espècies de fongs, repartides en els diferents grups: Acrasiomycetes (1); Ceratiomyxomycetes (2); Myxomycetes (44); Zygomycetes (1); Ascomycetes (36); Basidiomycetes (319); Deuteromycetes (4).

Engineering Geology for Society and Territory: volume 2: landslide processes

This book is one out of 8 IAEG XII Congress volumes, and deals with Landslide processes, including: field data and monitoring techniques, prediction and forecasting of landslide occurrence, regional landslide inventories and dating studies, modeling of slope instabilities and secondary hazards (e.g. impulse waves and landslide-induced tsunamis, landslide dam failures and breaching), hazard and risk assessment, earthquake and rainfall induced landslides, instabilities of volcanic edifices, remedial works and mitigation measures, development of innovative stabilization techniques and applicability to specific engineering geological conditions, use of geophysical techniques for landslide characterization and investigation of triggering mechanisms. Focuses is given to innovative techniques, well documented case studies in different environments, critical components of engineering geological and geotechnical investigations, hydrological and hydrogeological investigations, remote sensing and geophysical techniques, modeling of triggering, collapse, runout and landslide reactivation, geotechnical design and construction procedures in landslide zones, interaction of landslides with structures and infrastructures and possibility of domino effects. Treatment of cancer with oral drugs: a position statement by the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology

Cancer treatment involves the participation of multiple medical specialties and, as our knowledge of the disease increases, this fact becomes even more apparent. The degree of multidisciplinarity is determined by several factors, which include the severity and type of disease, the increasing diversity in the available pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies, and the range of specialists involved in cancer therapy, such as medical oncologists, radiotherapists, gynecologists, gastroenterologists, urologists, surgeons, and pneumologists, among others. Across Europe, the situation of cancer care can be variable due to the diversity of health systems, differences in drug reimbursement, and the degree of establishment of Medical Oncology as a medical specialty in the European Union states.

Different Storing and Processing Conditions of Human Lymphocytes do not Alter P-Glycoprotein Rhodamine 123 Efflux.

P-glycoprotein (Pgp), a protein codified by Multi Drug Resistance (MDR1) gene, has a detoxifying function and might influence the toxicity and pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs. Sampling strategies to improve Pgp studies could be useful to optimize the sensitivity and the reproducibility of efflux assays. This study aimed to compare Pgp expression and efflux activity by measuring Rhodamine123 (Rh123) retention in lymphocytes stored under different conditions, in order to evaluate the potential utility of any of the storing conditions in Pgp functionality. Our results show no change in protein expression of Pgp by confocal studies and Western blotting, nor changes at the mRNA level (qRT-PCR). No differences in Rh123 efflux by Pgp activity assays were found between fresh and frozen lymphocytes after 24 hours of blood extraction, using either of the two Pgp specific inhibitors (VP and PSC833). Different working conditions in the 24 hours post blood extraction do not affect Rh123 efflux. These results allow standardization of Pgp activity measurement in different individuals with different timing of blood sampling and in different geographic areas. _______________

In this paper a brief outline of the origin and development of vocational guidance and career development during the 20thcentury is presented We elaborate a summary of the changes society has suffered during the last decades, and which affect career counselling either directly or indirectly, and which imply a need for modifications in the current approach to career counselling. Subsequently, we propose new perspectives that will be needed to face these changes, and which have been suggested by different authors. Also some competencies needed by career counselors while acting at different levels of intervention are suggested

Los efectos de la sociedad en los museos: del boom a la crisis de ideas = The effects of the society in museums: from boom to the ideas crisis

This paper compares different times of museums considering the situation of the past two decades. It reflects on the upswing and down, knowing that partake of the latter and we are in a deep crisis and unsustainable policies dictating contradictory. This situation raises the museums with their own project and creative professionals can better overcome difficulties because they do not suffer crisis of ideas. Some paradoxes are evident as the case of Greece, the place where the museums are repositories of highly relevant cultural values and the same institutions that have enhanced their improvement in the years of the upswing, they currently require, cuts that put them in a position risk. Similarly we can see that policies are applied to thin the identity of museums since they rely on adjustments that do not study each particular case. Alternatively there is the creativity and efforts of managers and professionals in general and cooperative work. It gives details of some of our participatory projects that go in this direction and to be successfully applied
