Aplicación web para la gestión de contenidos del grupo GENOCOV

El proyecto que se presenta va dirigido al grupo GENOCOV (Grupo de Tratamiento Biológico de Efluentes Líquidos y Gaseosos. Eliminación de Nutrientes. Olores y Compuestos Orgánicos Volátiles) perteneciente al Departamento de Ingeniería Química de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB) y consiste en el desarrollo de una aplicación web para el manejo de la información de material bibliográfico de consulta, reactivos químicos y el currículum vitae del grupo de investigación.

Estudio de los mensajes de control del protocolo multicast PIM SM

OPNET es una herramienta de simulación de redes muy potente, donde se puede configurar cualquier tipo de red existente. Esta herramienta nos ayuda a “probar” sin tener que montar ninguna red física, una gran ventaja sobre todo para protocolos experimentales o para el diseño de los mismos. En este proyecto se utiliza el OPNET para explotar el protocolo multicast PIM-SM. Se establecerá un modelo de red, donde estarán configurados los nodos de forma estratégica para intentar extraer el máximo de información del comportamiento en esta situación del protocolo PIM-SM.

Design of Novel Frequency Generation Circuit with Application to Ultra-Wideband Distributed Oscillators

Given the urgence of a new paradigm in wireless digital trasmission which should allow for higher bit rate, lower latency and tigher delay constaints, it has been proposed to investigate the fundamental building blocks that at the circuital/device level, will boost the change towards a more efficient network architecture, with high capacity, higher bandwidth and a more satisfactory end user experience. At the core of each transciever, there are inherently analog devices capable of providing the carrier signal, the oscillators. It is strongly believed that many limitations in today's communication protocols, could be relieved by permitting high carrier frequency radio transmission, and having some degree of reconfigurability. This led us to studying distributed oscillator architectures which work in the microwave range and possess wideband tuning capability. As microvave oscillators are essentially nonlinear devices, a full nonlinear analyis, synthesis, and optimization had to be considered for their implementation. Consequently, all the most used nonlinear numerical techniques in commercial EDA software had been reviewed. An application of all the aforementioned techniques has been shown, considering a systems of three coupled oscillator ("triple push" oscillator) in which the stability of the various oscillating modes has been studied. Provided that a certain phase distribution is maintained among the oscillating elements, this topology permits a rise in the output power of the third harmonic; nevertheless due to circuit simmetry, "unwanted" oscillating modes coexist with the intenteded one. Starting with the necessary background on distributed amplification and distributed oscillator theory, the design of a four stage reverse mode distributed voltage controlled oscillator (DVCO) using lumped elments has been presented. All the design steps have been reported and for the first time a method for an optimized design with reduced variations in the output power has been presented. Ongoing work is devoted to model a wideband DVCO and to implement a frequency divider.

El proyecto presentado tiene como finalidad definir e implementar un sistema de gestión documental (CMS) a nivel informático para la empresa FIATC Seguros que proporcione los métodos necesarios para la buena gestión de la documentación.

Sistema de monitorización de servidores Linux

El present projecte pretén cobrir les necessitats de monitorització d'una xarxa per definir. Principalment hauran de ser monitoritzats tant els servidors com les estacions de treball. Tots aquests hosts tindran en comú que funcionaran amb sistemes operatius GNU/Linux, intentant en la mesura del possible abastar diverses distribucions, encara que principalment es treballarà per les basades en Debian, i més concretament en Ubuntu.

Gestor de contenidos web ASP.NET

Mediante el presente documento se pretende describir el proceso de creación de una herramienta de tipo CMS (Gestor de contenidos). Concretamente, se desarrollará una herramienta que permita al usuario crear su propio sitio web sin necesidad de tener conocimientos de programación. Debido a la gran variedad de sitios web tanto en su forma como en su contenido y ante la imposibilidad de abarcar todo el espectro desde la primera versión del producto, se centrarán los esfuerzos en obtener una aplicación sencilla pero funcional y, sobretodo, escalable, para que mediante futuras actualizaciones se puedan ir incrementando sus posibilidades y capacidad.

El consum de fàrmacs en la població conductora: un estudi poblacional des de l’Atenció Primària

INTRODUCCIÓ: Lesions per trànsit (LT), evitables i problema de salut pública. Àmbit d’atenció primària (AP), lloc on investigar i actuar. Possible relació medicació crònica del conductor i LT. MÈTODES: estudi descriptiu, transversal i multicèntric, conductors amb història clínica, província Barcelona. 1900 enquestes, mostreig consecutiu. Variables sociodemogràfiques, sobre conducció i salut. RESULTATS: 57,3% homes, 8,5% conductors professionals, 12,5% havia patit una LT, 6% va precisar ajuda mèdica. 45,2% medicació crònica, predominant tractament cardiovascular. CONCLUSIONS: No s’han trobat relacions significatives entre medicació crònica i LT. Limitacions:imperfecció dels sistemes de registre, fiabilitat feble de dades autodeclarades, presència de possibles factors de confusió.

Statistical tests for scaling in the inter-event times of earthquakes in California

We explore in depth the validity of a recently proposed scaling law for earthquake inter-event time distributions in the case of the Southern California, using the waveform cross-correlation catalog of Shearer et al. Two statistical tests are used: on the one hand, the standard two-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is in agreement with the scaling of the distributions. On the other hand, the one-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistic complemented with Monte Carlo simulation of the inter-event times, as done by Clauset et al., supports the validity of the gamma distribution as a simple model of the scaling function appearing on the scaling law, for rescaled inter-event times above 0.01, except for the largest data set (magnitude greater than 2). A discussion of these results is provided.

Including the workload effect in the parallel program signature

Performance prediction and application behavior modeling have been the subject of exten- sive research that aim to estimate applications performance with an acceptable precision. A novel approach to predict the performance of parallel applications is based in the con- cept of Parallel Application Signatures that consists in extract an application most relevant parts (phases) and the number of times they repeat (weights). Executing these phases in a target machine and multiplying its exeuction time by its weight an estimation of the application total execution time can be made. One of the problems is that the performance of an application depends on the program workload. Every type of workload affects differently how an application performs in a given system and so affects the signature execution time. Since the workloads used in most scientific parallel applications have dimensions and data ranges well known and the behavior of these applications are mostly deterministic, a model of how the programs workload affect its performance can be obtained. We create a new methodology to model how a program’s workload affect the parallel application signature. Using regression analysis we are able to generalize each phase time execution and weight function to predict an application performance in a target system for any type of workload within predefined range. We validate our methodology using a synthetic program, benchmarks applications and well known real scientific applications.

Aplicació Android per estudiants universitaris

Mi proyecto es una aplicación Android llamada PACK_UAB que permite a los estudiantes consultar diferentes páginas de nuestra universidad, como el expediente académico y la página de los laboratorios para la consulta o inscripción a los grupos de prácticas. Estas páginas están parseadas para que solamente aparezca la información importante para el estudiante y además están adaptadas a la pantalla del teléfono. Este proyecto es una solución para los estudiantes porque pueden hacer estas tareas desde cualquier sitio con su teléfono Android si disponen de conexión a Internet y solamente pulsando un botón.

On the analysis of travelling waves to a nonlinear flux limited reaction-diffusion equation

In this paper we study the existence and qualitative properties of travelling waves associated to a nonlinear flux limited partial differential equation coupled to a Fisher-Kolmogorov-Petrovskii-Piskunov type reaction term. We prove the existence and uniqueness of finite speed moving fronts of C2 classical regularity, but also the existence of discontinuous entropy travelling wave solutions.

Integració d'un business intelligence en un ERP

Aquest projecte mostra la importància que pot tenir un sistema basat en Business Intelligence, dins d’una empresa o organització, donant una eina per augmentar la competitivitat, treballant les dades que s’obtenen dels diferents sistemes de gestió que hi ha dins l’empresa. Aquest gran nombre de dades històriques les transformarem per formar una base de dades de qualitat, i les explorarem per tal d’extreure’n informació útil en format gràfic, per ajudar a la pressa de decisions per part dels directius.

Optimització d'una aplicacio bioinformàtica d'alineament de seqüències executada en processadors multi-core i many-core (GPUs)

Las aplicaciones de alineamiento de secuencias son una herramienta importante para la comunidad científica. Estas aplicaciones bioinformáticas son usadas en muchos campos distintos como pueden ser la medicina, la biología, la farmacología, la genética, etc. A día de hoy los algoritmos de alineamiento de secuencias tienen una complejidad elevada y cada día tienen que manejar un volumen de datos más grande. Por esta razón se deben buscar alternativas para que estas aplicaciones sean capaces de manejar el aumento de tamaño que los bancos de secuencias están sufriendo día a día. En este proyecto se estudian y se investigan mejoras en este tipo de aplicaciones como puede ser el uso de sistemas paralelos que pueden mejorar el rendimiento notablemente.
