Beyond the Net Generation debate: A comparison between digital learners in face-to-face and virtual universities

This paper is based on the hypothesis that the use of technology to support learning is not related to whether a student belongs to the Net Generation, but that it is mainly influenced by the teaching model. The study compares behaviour and preferences towards ICT use in two groups of university students: face-to-face students and online students. A questionnaire was applied to asample of students from five universities with different characteristics (one offers online education and four offer face-to-face education with LMS teaching support).

Promoting the Creation, Share and Use of OERs through Open Repositories and Social Networks

In this paper we discuss and analyze the process of using a learning object repository and building a social network on the top of it, including aspects related to open source technologies, promoting the use of the repository by means of social networks and helping learners to develop their own learning paths.

Open Educational Resources: an opportunity for virtual learning institutions

The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC, Open University of Catalonia) is involved inseveral research projects and educational activities related to the use of Open Educational Resources (OER). Some of the discussed issues in the concept of OER are research issues which are being tackled in two EC projects (OLCOS and SELF). Besides the research part, the UOC aims at developing a virtual centre for analysing and promoting the concept of OERin Europe in the sector of Higher and Further Education. The objectives are to makeinformation and learning services available to provide university management staff,eLearning support centres, faculty and learners with practical information required to create, share and re-use such interoperable digital content, tools and licensing schemes. In the realisation of these objectives, the main activities are the following: to provide organisationaland individual e-learning end-users with orientation; to develop perspectives and useful recommendations in the form of a medium-term Roadmap 2010 for OER in Higher and Further Education in Europe; to offer practical information and support services about how to create, share and re-use open educational content by means of tutorials, guidelines, best practices, and specimen of exemplary open e-learning content; to establish a larger group ofcommitted experts throughout Europe and other continents who not only share theirexpertise but also steer networking, workshops, and clustering efforts; and to foster and support a community of practice in open e-learning content know-how and experiences.

Social Media in health. What are the safety concerns for healthcare consumers?

Recent literature has discussed the unintended consequences of clinical information technologies (IT) on patient safety, yet there has been little discussion about the safety concerns in the area of consumer health IT. This paper presents a range of safety concerns for consumers in social media, with a case study on YouTube. We conducted a scan of abstracts on 'quality criteria' related to YouTube. Five areas regarding the safety of YouTube for consumers were identifi ed: (a) harmful health material targeted at consumers (such as inappropriate marketing of tobaccoor direct-to-consumer drug advertising); (b) public display of unhealthy behaviour (such as people displaying self-injury behaviours or hurting others); (c) tainted public health messages (i.e. the rise of negative voices againstpublic health messages); (d) psychological impact from accessing inappropriate, offensive or biased social media content; and (e) using social media to distort policy and research funding agendas. The examples presented should contribute to a better understanding about how to promote a safe consumption and production of social media for consumers, and an evidence-based approach to designing social media interventions for health. The potential harm associated with the use of unsafe social media content on the Internet is a major concern. More empirical and theoretical studies are needed to examine how social media infl uences consumer health decisions, behaviours and outcomes, and devise ways to deter the dissemination of harmful infl uences in social media.

Finalment, un recorregut-rambla serà la peça que des del nivell d'accés -extrem Nord- vagi connectant amb totes les àrees per arribar finalment a la zona esportiva, sense creuar el vial d'accés al Centre Borja.

Europa als ulls dels Annales (1093-1933)

During this first third of this century, the continent of Europe witnessed far-reaching territorial transformations in the nineteenth century model. To some extent, the setting wich had inspired the epistemological structure of the French regional school was being replaced by one in which -at least to externa1 appearances- the relationship between the physical environment and human activities was much less evident. The adaptation of the theoretical and methodological context to the new Europe seems to take the form of a non-lineal evolution, for in the latter years of the period examined, evolutionary tendencies indicate a return to the more classical model. In this way, the growing interest which the publication had shown in Atlantic Europe and topics of a more economic nature, was truncated. The traditional settings --especially the Mediterranean- came to the fore again and interest in rural societies was renewed. Likewise, the monographic studies which had demonstrated distinct functional objectives in the midtwenties, recovered elements of ecological explanation, and the search for the relationship between environment and society

Donat la seva necessitat d’expansi��, en aquest estudi s’ha projectat una instal•laci�� contra incendis en l’exterior suficient per poder garantir tant les condicions mínimes legals que recull la norma UNE 23500:2012 sobre sistemes d’abastament d’aigua contra incendis i tota la resta de normes i certificacions de que han de disposar els diversos components d’aquesta xarxa, com els requeriments que ha cregut adequat el client en funci�� de la seva activitat empresarial i les necessitats que com a usuari de la instal•laci�� creu oportunes

En aquesta memòria es presenta un projecte que té com a objectiu principal la creaci�� d'una aplicaci�� que, donada una imatge d'entrada, retorni en quina dècada va ser adquirida la imatge. Apart es pretén millorar els resultats obtinguts en altres estudis sobre la classificaci�� d'imatges segons la seva data d'adquisici��. En la memòria s'explica l'estudi realitzat anteriorment sobre el tema i quin ha estat el mètode escollit per millorar els seus resultats. També s'explica com hem creat l'aplicaci�� i els passos que segueix l'aplicaci�� en la seva execuci��.

Análisis y desarrollo de métodos para la detecci��n de apneas en electrocardiograma

El proyecto nace de la necesidad de ofrecer un método de análisis de apneas por somnolencia que pueda ser utilizado con señales biológicas adquiridas sin contacto, como por ejemplo el ECG. Obtener señales biológicas con sensores sin contacto es muy importante en la monitorizaci��n de conductores, ya que la somnolencia al volante es una de las causas de accidente de tráfico más frecuentes, según el último estudio de la DGT. La apnea es un indicador de que el usuario tiene síntomas de cansancio y por ello, en este proyecto, se hace un estudio de variabilidad de señales derivadas del ECG para detectar zonas de fatiga y después caracterizaci��n morfológica de la apnea para localizarlas en las regiones de fatiga.

La Crònica de Muntaner, una novel·la històrica?

Les cerimònies i rituals de l'edat mitjana han tingut sempre una imatge romàntica ialhora plena de fantasia. Ens imaginem fàcilment els cavallers de la Taula Rodona i el rei Artús amb l'espasa Excàlibur a la mà.La història de Catalunya ens pot oferir moments semblants: la coronaci�� dels reis de la Corona d'Aragó, amb tota la solemnitat i magnificència que aquestes cerimòniesexigeixen. Tenim, per exemple, la descripci�� que Ramon Muntaner ens ha lliurat, en laseva Crònica, de la coronaci�� del rei Alfons el Benigne (1328), plena de detallsenlluernadors i d'una gran plasticitat. Ara bé: la narraci�� de Muntaner és realment fidel a allò que ha tingut lloc, o més aviat és una eina de propaganda política destinada a glorificar la Corona d'Aragó i a justificar el seu autor?

Proyecto de puesta en marcha de una explotaci��n de porcino de 672 cerdas reproductoras en ciclo cerrado en el término municipal de Viana de Duero (Soria)

El present Projecte es basa en el disseny, construcci�� i engegada d'una explotaci�� intensiva de 672 truges en cicle tancat per a la producci�� de porc “blanc” amb orientaci�� càrnia i en règim d'integraci��. L'explotaci�� estarà composta de diverses construccions: Nau de cubrici��-control-gestaci��, nau de maternitat i deslleti-transici��, quatre naus d'esquer, nau de quarentena, naus d'infermeria per a reproductores i per a porcs en esquer, així com altres instal·lacions accessòries per al correcte funcionament de l'explotaci��. Aquestes són caseta multiusos, bassa de purins i dipòsit d'emmagatzematge d'aigua.
