Steganalytic methods for the detection of histogram shifting data-hiding schemes

In this paper, some steganalytic techniques designed to detect the existence of hidden messages using histogram shifting methods are presented. Firstly, some techniques to identify specific methods of histogram shifting, based on visible marks on the histogram or abnormal statistical distributions are suggested. Then, we present a general technique capable of detecting all histogram shifting techniques analyzed. This technique is based on the effect of histogram shifting methods on the "volatility" of the histogram of differences and the study of its reduction whenever new data are hidden.

L'anàlisi dels personatges descriu tots els tipus establerts (la vídua, el vell, l'alcavota, el clergue, el burgès, etc.). L'estudi fa també un acostament comparatiu a d'altres obres satíriques de l'època en d'altres literatures, com el Decameró i Els contes de Canterbury.

Sharing Open Source License and Copyright Data with SPDX

Organizations across the globe are creating and distributing products that include open source software. To ensure compliance with the open source licenses, each company needs to evaluate exactly what open source licenses and copyrights are included - resulting in duplicated effort and redundancy. This talk will provide an overview of a new Software Package Data Exchange (SPDX) specification. This specification will provide a common format to share information about the open source licenses and copyrights that are included in any software package, with the goal of saving time and improving data accuracy. This talk will review the progress of the initiative; discuss the benefits to organizations using open source and share information on how you can contribute.

Spatial processing for frequency diversity schemes

A novel technique to obtain optimum blind spatialprocessing for frequency diversity spread spectrum (FDSS) communicationsystems is introduced. The sufficient statistics for alinear combiner, which prove ineffective due to the interferers frequencycharacteristics, are modified to yield improved detectionunder partial jamming in the spectral domain. Robustness to partialtime jamming is achieved by extending the notion of replicasover the frequency axis to a repetition over the time variable. Analysisand simulations are provided, showing the advantages of usingFDSS with spatial diversity to combat the interference when it isconfined to a narrow frequency band or short time interval relativeto the desired signal extent in either domain.

Readout schemes for low noise single-photon avalanche diodes fabricated in conventional HV-CMOS technologies

Three different pixels based on single-photon avalanche diodes for triggered applications, such as fluorescence lifetime measurements and high energy physics experiments, are presented. Each pixel consists of a 20µm x 100µm (width x length) single photon avalanche diode and a monolithically integrated readout circuit. The sensors are operated in the gated mode of acquisition to reduce the probability to detect noise counts interferring with real radiation events. Each pixel includes a different readout circuit that allows to use low reverse bias overvoltages. Experimental results demonstrate that the three pixels present a similar behaviour. The pixels get rid of afterpulses and present a reduced dark count probability by applying the gated operation. Noise figures are further improved by using low reverse bias overvoltages. The detectors exhibit an input dynamic range of 13.35 bits with short gated"on" periods of 10ns and a reverse bias overvoltage of 0.5V. The three pixels have been fabricated in a standard HV-CMOS process.

Conflicting claims problem associated with cost sharing of a network

A minimum cost spanning tree (mcst) problem analyzes the way to efficiently connect individuals to a source when they are located at different places. Once the efficient tree is obtained, the question on how allocating the total cost among the involved agents defines, in a natural way, a confliicting claims situation. For instance, we may consider the endowment as the total cost of the network, whereas for each individual her claim is the maximum amount she will be allocated, that is, her connection cost to the source. Obviously, we have a confliicting claims problem, so we can apply claims rules in order to obtain an allocation of the total cost. Nevertheless, the allocation obtained by using claims rules might not satisfy some appealing properties (in particular, it does not belong to the core of the associated cooperative game). We will define other natural claims problems that appear if we analyze the maximum and minimum amount that an individual should pay in order to support the minimum cost tree. El secret del càncer més resistent

En la lluita contra el càncer, la recerca de nous fàrmacs cada cop més efectius i específics sovint troba un escull important: en molts tumors hi ha una petita fracció de cèl·lules resistents, que no es poden eliminar fàcilment. Tanmateix, el principal problema no és aquest, sinó que, a més, acostumen a respondre als fàrmacs incrementant la taxa de proliferació i la capacitat de fer metàstasi. Això fa que alguns tractaments no acabin de ser del tot efectius a llarg termini, per la presència cada cop més nombrosa i dispersa d'aquestes cèl·lules canceroses resistents. L'equip de recerca de Joan Massagué, al Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center de Nova York, ha demostrat que aquest efecte a llarg termini induït pels mateixos fàrmacs és perquè les cèl·lules sensibles, abans de morir, preparen un ambient molt favorable per a les resistents.
