Des de fa ja alguns anys que el sector de la construcció està malmès degut a la crisi econòmica actual i moltes de les empreses que hi ha no aconsegueixen sortir del pou i tenen seriosos problemes per a vendre els seus productes o serveis. És aquí on sorgeix una magnífica possibilitat d'utilitzar tècniques d'usabilitat i accessibilitat Web que poden permetre a les empreses del sector de la construcció millorar els ratis tant de captació com de fidelització de clients ja que la idea és aconseguir realitzar una Web pensada en l'usuari i per l'usuari tenint en compte sempre les seves necessitats. Com el sector és molt estès i per ser competitiu cal tenir algun factor diferenciador, com per exemple el de la sostenibilitat que està tan de moda, en aquest projecte s'ha volgut treballar amb una empresa que acompleix tots dos requisits: ven parquet de bambú i alhora aquesta planta és totalment sostenible.

L'objectiu del present Projecte final de carrera consisteix en la realització d'un dissenye implementació d'un lloc web de venta de llibres al detall.El sistema mostra a l'usuari una sèrie de productes. Tots aquest productespoden ser adquirits per l'usuari prèvia identificació i validació de les dades.

Tenda on-line de llibres nous i de segona mà. Aplicació web distribuïda client-servidor, basada en l'especificació J2EE de java, i desenvolupada amb els frameworks Struts2, Hibernate i JSP per a la part visual. Desenvolupada i provada sobre un servidor d'aplicacions Apache Tomcat 7.0 i un SGBD MySQL Server 5.1. Aplicació que permet la gestió d'una tenda on-line per part dels propietaris del negoci, i per part dels clients que hi accedeixen i es registrin, efectuar comandes de llibres mitjançant un carretó de compra, o fer donacions de llibres usats per tal d'obtenir punts que llavors podran utilitzar per a comprar altres llibres de segona mà.

Consumer reviews, opinions and shared experiences in the use of a product is a powerful source of information about consumer preferences that can be used in recommender systems. Despite the importance and value of such information, there is no comprehensive mechanism that formalizes the opinions selection and retrieval process and the utilization of retrieved opinions due to the difficulty of extracting information from text data. In this paper, a new recommender system that is built on consumer product reviews is proposed. A prioritizing mechanism is developed for the system. The proposed approach is illustrated using the case study of a recommender system for digital cameras

The European Educational Institutions have the challenge and the commitment to enhance multilingual competence and teaching curricular subjects in a foreign language is seen as one of the most promising alternatives. In that context, professors teaching different engineering subjects at the School of Engineering of the UPC at Manresa (EPSEM) have been involved in projects aiming at analyzing the current linguistic situation and developing some on-line open access materials using CLIL as a strategy. They formed the u-Linguatech Research Group on Multilingual Communication in Science and Technology in order to provide such resources in an effective and efficient way. In this paper, we focus on students’ perception of the improvement of their multilingual competence throughout their Engineering degree, by means of subjects taught in English by non-native speakers. Data about the English level of current students are taken into account. We also describe the use of the above resources to improve the quality of subjects learning related to Chemical Engineering curricula.

Since the mid-1990s researchers have sought to understand why some firms embark on e-commerceoperations on the Internet while others prefer to wait and see how events unfold. We still have todetermine which variables contribute to explaining the extent to which firms use e-commerce, giventhat to date the literature has not yet offered conclusive evidence on this question. The current workaims to provide an integrated vision of the set of factors influencing the e-commerce adoptionprocess. We use a sample of 2,038 firms of all types that trade their products either with otherorganizations or with end-consumers.

Recommender systems attempt to predict items in which a user might be interested, given some information about the user's and items' profiles. Most existing recommender systems use content-based or collaborative filtering methods or hybrid methods that combine both techniques (see the sidebar for more details). We created Informed Recommender to address the problem of using consumer opinion about products, expressed online in free-form text, to generate product recommendations. Informed recommender uses prioritized consumer product reviews to make recommendations. Using text-mining techniques, it maps each piece of each review comment automatically into an ontology
