Prospecciones liquenologicas en el alto Aragon occidental

This work includes the first results of some excursions to a number of representative localities of Spanish Pyrenees in the region of Jaca, mainly focused on the epiphytes of the fir and beech woods, of Scots pine and of Pinus uncinata, calcareous and siliceous alpine rocks, and also on urban tree lichens in Jaca. The result is an annotated list comprising 228 species, of which 47 are new to Spain and a hundred were not previously reported from the Spanish Pyrenees. Furthermore, it has been possible to recognize some typical examples of alpine associations and also of epiphytic associations rich in oceanic lichens, well known outside of Spain.

L'exercici físic en l'aigua durant l'embaràs i la qualitat de vida relacionada amb la salut.

Pregunta clínica: Les dones embarassades sanes de la ciutat de Lleida que, a més a més d’assistir a classes de preparació al part participen en un programa periòdic d’exercici físic en l’aigua milloraran la seva qualitat de vida relacionada amb la salut, respecte aquelles que només realitzin les classes de preparació al part? Objectiu: Verificar que l’aplicació d‘un programa d’exercici físic en l’aigua i un programa de preparació al part produeix una millora de la qualitat de vida relacionada amb la salut de les dones embarassades, que no només aplicant un programa de preparació al part on no s’efectua cap exercici físic en l’aigua de forma periòdica. Metodologia: Assaig clínic aleatori amb una mostra de 228 dones embarassades, la mostra es divideix en el grup control (n=114), que rep únicament classes de preparació al part i el grup intervenció (n=114), on a més a més de les classes de preparació al part s’efectua un programa d’exercici físic a l’aigua d’una duració de 8 setmanes. Els criteris d’inclusió són; dones embarassades sanes, de Lleida, entre els 18 i els 35 anys i que es troben entre la setmana 24 i 28 de gestació al inici de la intervenció. Els criteris d’exclusió són; les fumadores, aquelles que presentin contraindicacions a l’exercici i un IMC inferior a 20 i superior a 29. Per a l’avaluació de la qualitat de vida relacionada amb la salut s’utilitza el qüestionari SF-36 i les dades sociodemogràfiques i psicosocials.

Directional and fluctuating asymmetry in finger and a-b ridge counts in psychosis: a case-control study

Background: Several studies have reported alterations in finger and a-b ridge counts, and theirderived measures of asymmetry, in schizophrenia compared to controls. Because ridges are fully formed by the end of the second trimester, they may provide clues to disturbed early development. The aim of this study was to assess these measures in a sample of patients with psychosis and normal controls.Methods: Individuals with psychosis (n = 240), and normal controls (n = 228) were drawn from a catchment-area case-control study. Differences in finger and a-b ridge count and Fluctuating Asymmetry were assessed in three group comparisons (non-affective psychosis versus controls; affective psychosis versus controls; non-affective psychosis versus affective psychosis). The analyses were performed separately for males and females. Results: There were no significant group differences for finger nor a-b ridge counts. While there were no group difference for Directional Asymmetry, for Fluctuating Asymmetry measures men with non-affective psychosis had significantly higher fluctuating asymmetry of the index finger ridge count (a) when compared to controls (FA-correlation score, p = 0.02), and (b) when compared to affective psychosis (adjusted FA-difference score, p = 0.04). Conclusion: Overall, measures of finger and a-b ridge counts, and their derived measures of directional and fluctuating asymmetry were not prominent features of psychosis in this sample. While directional asymmetry in cerebral morphology is reduced in schizophrenia, this is not reflected in dermatoglyphic variables.
