Aquest projecte presenta una solució intregrada amb les especificacions de la FIPA d’un servei de pàgines grogues per a la plataforma d’agents de JADE en entorns ad hoc. El servei de pàgines grogues interaccionarà a través d’un middleware amb diferents tecnologies P2P per proporcionar als agents un servei totalment fiable i transparent que els ajudarà a superar la limitació del sistema de federacions de FIPA.

Architectural design and deployment of Peer-to-Peer Video-on-Demand (P2PVoD) systems which support VCR functionalities is attracting the interest of an increasing number of research groups within the scientific community; especially due to the intrinsic characteristics of such systems and the benefits that peers could provide at reducing the server load. This work focuses on the performance analysis of a P2P-VoD system considering user behaviors obtained from real traces together with other synthetic user patterns. The experiments performed show that it is feasible to achieve a performance close to the best possible. Future work will consider monitoring the physical characteristics of the network in order to improve the design of different aspects of a VoD system.

El projecte consisteix a implementar una aplicació de missatgeria instantània a l'estil de les tradicionals que es fan servir a Internet, però sobre una infraestructura P2P anomenada LaColla, que és una implementació d'una xarxa distribuïda col·laborativa descentralitzada orientada a grups.

L'objectiu principal del projecte és el disseny d'un proxy que té com a funció filtrar el recursos web sol·licitats pels usuaris i registrar-los en un historial, indicant si s'han permès o no. Una característica important del disseny és que ha de permetre incorporar noves funcionalitats al proxy, per exemple, catxé de recursos, filtrat de correus electrònics, xats, FTP, P2P, ...). A més, com a objectiu secundari, l'autor pretén implementar el disseny en un prototipus.

A causa de l'increment del nombre de consumidors de dades geogràfiques, sobretot de dispositius mòbils, els sistemes d'informació geogràfica es troben davant el repte de reduir el coll d'ampolla que suposa l'arquitectura client-servidor clàssica. Una de les solucions a aquest problema és la translació de part de la intel·ligència al node client, així com la creació de xarxes descentralitzades (peer to peer),L'objectiu d'aquesta recerca és demostrar la viabilitat d'una infraestructura client mòbil-servidor, on el client no és únicament un consumidor més, si no que es torna un node intel·ligent.Per fer aquest estudi s'ha desenvolupat una aplicació pel sistema operatiu Android que consumeix dades d'OpenStreetMap. Aquesta aplicació utilitza tècniques de tessel·lat, catching i descàrrega de dades en background segons la posició de l'usuari, per facilitar el consum i reduir el flux de dades intercanviades entre el client i el servidor. També s'ha creat un servei web intern al dispositiu mòbil per a la creació de xarxes peer to peer, les quals permetin un intercanvi de dades entre els terminals mòbils. En aquest treball s'ha demostrat la viabilitat de la infraestructura a través del impacte de l'ús de les tècniques comentades anteriorment sobre el dispositiu client. Per mesurar l'impacte s'ha tingut en compte la càrrega de la CPU (la qual repercuteix al consum de la bateria) i el temps de resposta del sistema. Els resultats de les proves realitzades indiquen que aquestes tècniques redueixen el temps de cerca de punts d'interès d'una manera dràstica, però que també tenen un alt impacte a la CPU i en el temps de càrrega, sobretot en dispositius amb menys capacitats.

One of the major problems when using non-dedicated volunteer resources in adistributed network is the high volatility of these hosts since they can go offlineor become unavailable at any time without control. Furthermore, the use ofvolunteer resources implies some security issues due to the fact that they aregenerally anonymous entities which we know nothing about. So, how to trustin someone we do not know?.Over the last years an important number of reputation-based trust solutionshave been designed to evaluate the participants' behavior in a system.However, most of these solutions are addressed to P2P and ad-hoc mobilenetworks that may not fit well with other kinds of distributed systems thatcould take advantage of volunteer resources as recent cloud computinginfrastructures.In this paper we propose a first approach to design an anonymous reputationmechanism for CoDeS [1], a middleware for building fogs where deployingservices using volunteer resources. The participants are reputation clients(RC), a reputation authority (RA) and a certification authority (CA). Users needa valid public key certificate from the CA to register to the RA and obtain thedata needed to participate into the system, as now an opaque identifier thatwe call here pseudonym and an initial reputation value that users provide toother users when interacting together. The mechanism prevents not only themanipulation of the provided reputation values but also any disclosure of theusers' identities to any other users or authorities so the anonymity isguaranteed.

The objective of traffic engineering is to optimize network resource utilization. Although several works have been published about minimizing network resource utilization, few works have focused on LSR (label switched router) label space. This paper proposes an algorithm that takes advantage of the MPLS label stack features in order to reduce the number of labels used in LSPs. Some tunnelling methods and their MPLS implementation drawbacks are also discussed. The described algorithm sets up NHLFE (next hop label forwarding entry) tables in each LSR, creating asymmetric tunnels when possible. Experimental results show that the described algorithm achieves a great reduction factor in the label space. The presented works apply for both types of connections: P2MP (point-to-multipoint) and P2P (point-to-point)

CompP2P és una interfície gràfica implementada amb Java Swing 1.5 del Sistema de Còmput Distribuït P2P CompP2P. És una interfície gràfica polivalent, és a dir, pot ésser usada en diferents sistemes operatius (Linux, Mac0sX, Windows) i per tant ha d'ésser una aplicació multiplataforma. S'ha aconseguit millorar la gestió de tots els recursos de CompP2P mitjançant una interfície gràfica molt usable i també amb modificacions efectuades en el sistema base CompP2P on s'han afegit i/o millorat aspectes com la comunciació remota, les comandes de gestió del sistema, etc.

ADSL is becoming the standard form of residential and small-business broadband Internet access due to, primarily, its low deployment cost. These ADSL residential lines are often deployed with 802.11 Access Points (AP) that providewireless connectivity. Given the density of ADSL deployment, it is often possible for a residential wireless client to be in range of several other APs, belonging to neighbors, with ADSL connectivity. While the ADSL technology has showed evident limits in terms of capacity (with speeds ranging 1-10 Mbps), the short-range wireless communication can guarantee a muchhigher capacity (up to 20 Mbps). Furthermore, the ADSL links in the neighborhood are generally under-utilized, since ADSL subscribers do not connect 100% of the time. Therefore, it is possible for a wireless client to simultaneously connect to several APs in range and effectively aggregate their available ADSL bandwidth.In this paper, we introduce ClubADSL, a wireless client that can simultaneously connect to several APs in range on different frequencies and aggregate both their downlink and uplink capacity. ClubADSL is a software that runs locally on the client-side, and it requires neither modification to the existing Internet infrastructure, nor any hardware/protocol upgradesto the 802.11 local area network. We show the feasibility of ClubADSL in seamlessly transmitting TCP traffic, and validate its implementation both in controlled scenarios and with current applications over real ADSL lines. In particular we show that a ClubADSL client can greatly benefit from the aggregated download bandwidth in the case of server-client applications such as video streaming, but can also take advantage of the increased upload bandwidth greatly reducing download times with incentive-based P2P applications such as BitTorrent.

Organisations in Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) have proven to be successful in regulating agent societies. Nevertheless, changes in agents' behaviour or in the dynamics of the environment may lead to a poor fulfilment of the system's purposes, and so the entire organisation needs to be adapted. In this paper we focus on endowing the organisation with adaptation capabilities, instead of expecting agents to be capable of adapting the organisation by themselves. We regard this organisational adaptation as an assisting service provided by what we call the Assistance Layer. Our generic Two Level Assisted MAS Architecture (2-LAMA) incorporates such a layer. We empirically evaluate this approach by means of an agent-based simulator we have developed for the P2P sharing network domain. This simulator implements 2-LAMA architecture and supports the comparison between different adaptation methods, as well as, with the standard BitTorrent protocol. In particular, we present two alternatives to perform norm adaptation and one method to adapt agents'relationships. The results show improved performance and demonstrate that the cost of introducing an additional layer in charge of the system's adaptation is lower than its benefits.
