CREI-Sants. Educació, art i teràpia

Aquest article dóna explicació dels objectius fonamentals del model ecològic-contextual en el que se basa CREI-Sants (Centre de recursos educatius i d'Investigació de Sants), dedicat a l'atenció de nens, joves i adults amb diferents tipos de hándicaps integrats en grups heterogenis de població. Expressa les últimes tendències en tractament terapèutic basades en l'art i la creativitat, i dóna informació de les darreres activitats de caràcter sociocultural que es realitzen. El text, finalment, recull el manifest de l'Art i Creativitat en persones amb handicap, amb la finalitat d'influenciar en l'opinió pública a favor de la integració dels col·lectius afectats pels diferents tipos de dificultats.

A study of the effects of PVAC on works of art on paper and wood: pH and colour change

This paper presents the preliminary findings of pH and colour measurements carried out on artworks on paperand on wood that had been treated with a poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAC) based adhesive in the 1980s. In both cases, areas treated with PVAC proved to be less acidic than untreated areas. Contrary to expectations, the conservation treatments have not, as yet, increased acidity levels in the objects under study. Colour measurements of the works on paper showed that those that had been backed with a cotton fabric using a mixture of methylcellulose and PVAC were less yellow than those from the same print run that had not been backed. This finding suggests that the backing somehow prevented the natural degradation of the support. In view of these preliminary results, further research is clearly needed. This study forms part of a broader ongoing project to assess the role of PVAC in the conservation of a range of cultural assets.

Public Art. Timeline of the XXth Century Evolution

The concept of public art is a polysemic term, and the dispersion of its meaning is reflected in the different ways of working during the XXth Century. It cross the fields of sculpture, monument, visual arts and urban space, defined from a civic perspective. Urban Regeneration. A challenge for Public Art, supposed the start of a trend of critical thought related to the topics of Public Art, Urban Regeneration and Urban Design. This trend agglutinated around the Public Art Observatory that, still today, develops its activities.The book gathers a series of critical proposals organized in the chapters " Art and Design in/for Public Space ", " Forms and Representations of Public Art/Public Space. The Producer/User Dilemma " and " Public Art / Cities in Competition: Strategies, Bridges and Gateways ", with the participation of, among others, Sergi Valera, Ray Smith, Martí Peran, Ian Rawlinson, Chaké Matosian, Enric Pol, J. Hyatt, J. Gingell or T. Bovaird.

Quant la ment s'acorda amb el cos. Moments de plenitut i saviesa en l'art del Taijiquan

Después de revisar las dos grandes tradiciones corporales de la China milenaria -prácticas respiratorias y artes marciales- se analiza la práctica del tai chi que, como es sabido, constituye una actividad cotidiana en los países orientales. Alrededor de dicha práctica se dan una serie de acciones corporales, meditativas y respiratorias en consonancia con la cosmovisión y valores de la cultura china que se caracteriza por su sentido global y unitario. Por último, los autores formulan una serie de consideraciones con la intención de incorporar su práctica a la educación física en orden a desarrollar una conciencia corporal abierta -más allá de las técnicas- a valores espirituales.

Electron energy loss spectroscopy: physical principles, state of the art and applications to the nanosciences

In the present work we review the way in which the electron-matter interaction allows us to perform electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), as well as the latest developments in the technique and some of the most relevant results of EELS as a characterization tool in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

The cave (La caverna -1952-1969) by Josep Palau i Fabre: theatre versus philosophical allegory in order both to perform and stop the tragic and dark end of the bright art of thinking

What is the use of representing in performance the image of the cave from book VII of Plato’s Republic? Josep Palau i Fabre considers that in Plato’s dialogues the speakers are mere instruments at the service of his dialectical purpose. The aim of this article is to show how, by turning the myth into a tragedy and relying on Heraclitus’s conflict or war of opposites, the playwright succeeds in favouring a sort of thought which is not one-sided or univocal. On the contrary, in Palau i Fabre’s La Caverna, the tragic hero, the released prisoner transformed by the light of Reality and finally killed by his “cavemates” –after having been imprisoned again and having tried to rescue them from their ignorance or shadows– still leaves them his powerful experience of the agonistikós thought, which might bear fruit in their life to come.

Com a pilar que sosté tot aquest corpus hi ha un gran bagatge clàssic i una vasta formació literària que, juntament amb l’experiència vital i el posicionament ètic de l’autora, proporcionen les claus de lectura dels seus llibres. Partint d’aquesta idea, l’article aprofundeix en els tres aspectes que considerem eixos fonamentals de l’obra de l’escriptora: els elements autobiogràfics, l’art i el compromís social.

How Millennials are changing the way of learning: the state of the art of ICT integration in education

Millennials generation is changing the way of learning, prompting educational institutions to attempt to better adapt to young needs by incorporating technologies into education. Based on this premise, we have reviewed the prominent reports of the integration of ICT into education with the aim of evidencing how education is changing, and will change, to meet the needs ofMillennials with ICT support. We conclude that most of the investments have simply resulted in an increase of computers and access to the Internet, with teachers reproducing traditional approaches to education and e-learning being seen as complementary to face-to-face education. While it would seem that the use of ICT is not revolutionizing learning, it is facilitating the personalization, collaboration and ubiquity of learning.

Este artículo analiza las obras de algunos artistas digitales que utilizan los recursos propios del medio digital como mensaje central. Nuestra intención será exponer las múltiples formas de utilizar, desarrollar y manipular el metalenguaje. Primeramente, con la intención de comprender estas obras, se elabora un contexto en que se plantearán unos precedentes, para ver, en una segunda parte, c��mo el metalenguaje en nuestra actualidad artística y digital vuelve a ser muy utilizado, de manera que llega a convertirse en una metodología característica del arte contemporáneo y de los medios digitales. Public Art, strategies for the regeneration of public space

This paper discusses some of the key concepts in the consideration of public art as a central element in urban regeneration processes, especially in reference to its role in the processes of citizen participation.

El concepto de arte público es un término polisémico cuyos significados se reflejan en la diversidad de recursos que podemos hallar en internet. Por lo tanto, la aproximación a dichos recursos requerirá una acotación del propio concepto, que transita entre los ámbitos de la escultura, el monumento, las artes visuales y el espacio urbano entendido desde su vertiente c��vica. La aproximación a los contenidos de internet vinculados con el arte público se aborda desde tres áreas temáticas cuyo análisis nos ayudará a organizar un volumen heterogéneo de información. La primera área incide en el papel de los centros de investigación y ayuntamientos en la promoción, inventariado y catalogación de las colecciones de arte en el espacio público. La segunda se centra en aquellos sitios web que son entendidos como fuentes de información y herramientas; los denominados think tanks. La tercera y última destaca la presencia en la red de páginas oficiales dedicadas a autores y obras espec��ficas. The concept of public art is a polysemic term, and the dispersion of its meaning is reflected in the diversity of resources we can find on the web. Therefore, the approach to these resources needs a delimitation of the concept, crossing the fields of Sculpture, Monument, Visual arts and Urban space, defined from a civic perspective. The management of these resources is addressed from three strands, whose analysis will help us to organize a heterogeneous volume of information. The first affects the role of research centers and municipalities in the promotion, inventory and cataloging of collections of art in public spaces. The second focuses on those websites understood as sources of information and resources, the so-called think tanks.
