La plaça del Diamant compleix 50 anys. Les influències d'Armand Obiols i de Joan Sales

L'objecte d'estudi d'aquest assaig de recerca en literatura és el de conèixer a fons les influències que rebé Mercè Rodoreda per a la redacció de les variants d'autor de la seva obra mestra 'La plaça del Diamant'. Concretament analitzarem exhaustivament les influències del reconegut escriptor i crític literari Armand Obiols i, així mateix, les de l'editor Joan Sales i Vallès. Per a aquesta fi ens servirem de dos epistolaris recentment publicats: 'Cartes a Mercè Rodoreda' d'Armand Obiols i 'Mercè Rodoreda. Joan Sales. Cartes completes (1960-1983)'.

El portafolis europeu de llengües en versió electrònica (ePEL+14): percepció del professorat universitari de la Xarxa Vives

Aquest article presenta el portafolis europeu de llengües en versió electrònica (ePEL+14) recentment validat pel Consell d'Europa. El propòsit és descriure aquesta innovació educativa en la docència universitària dels Erasmus Intensive Language Courses (EILC) i conèixer l'opinió dels professors universitaris de llengua catalana de la Xarxa Vives participants en la primera preexperimentació amb aquesta innovació en el curs 2011-2012. Es va dur a terme una enquesta després d’un taller de l'ePEL+14 en els EILC. El qüestionari ad hoc contenia quatre dimensions: variables sociodemogràfiques, coneixement previ del PEL i ePEL, materials de suport per implementar-ho i conseqüències del seu ús en l'aprenentatge de la llengua. La valoració va ser positiva, especialment per l'adequació de l'eina tecnològica i les funcionalitats informatives i pedagògiques per a l’aprenent de llengües. No obstant això, també assenyalen una influència moderada en l’aprenentatge de la llengua i cultura.

Cytoplasmic accumulation of NCoR in malignant melanoma: Consequences of altered gene repression and prognostic significance

Invasive malignant melanoma (MM) is an aggressive tumor with no curative therapy available in advanced stages. Nuclear corepressor (NCoR) is an essential regulator of gene transcription, and its function has been found deregulated in different types of cancer. In colorectal cancer cells, loss of nuclear NCoR is induced by Inhibitor of kappa B kinase (IKK) through the phosphorylation of specific serine residues. We here investigate whether NCoR function impacts in MM, which might have important diagnostic and prognostic significance. By IHC, we here determined the subcellular distribution of NCoR in a cohort of 63 primary invasive MM samples, and analyzed its possible correlation with specific clinical parameters. We therefore used a microarray-based strategy to determine global gene expression differences in samples with similar tumor stage, which differ in the presence of cytoplasmic or nuclear NCoR. We found that loss of nuclear NCoR results in upregulation of a specific cancer-related genetic signature, and is significantly associated with MM progression. Inhibition of IKK activity in melanoma cells reverts NCoR nuclear distribution and specific NCoR-regulated gene transcription. Analysis of public database demonstrated that inactivating NCoR mutations are highly prevalent in MM, showing features of driver oncogene.

Experiencia interdisciplinar de coevaluación: la percepción de los estudiantes en la Universidad de Girona : percepciones sobre la coevaluación

Peer-assessment provides multiple benefits to students during their learning process. The aim of this study is to examine students’ perception regarding peer-assessment. Surveys have been conducted before and after the peer-assessment process to students from five different subjects taught at the University of Girona. The results suggest that students have a positive predisposition respect to this methodology, both before and after being implemented. However, we found slight differences between the students of the technical field compared to those in education science

Joan Reglà, el historiador de la concordia

La justificació de la següent investigació és haver volgut realitzar una biografia intel·lectual de l’historiador català Joan Reglà i Campistol. S’ha exposat la trajectòria biogràfica de l’historiador junt amb les grans aportacions del seu pensament historiogràfic. Recuperar l’obra i el plantejaments de Joan Reglà, implica necessàriament afirmar una història del passat, una història que vulgui harmonitzar posicions irreconciliables i la necessitat de treballar per promoure un diàleg peninsular, obert i constructiu, que pugui contribuir a un millor coneixement i concòrdia entre tots els espanyols.

Effects of Cadmium and mercury on the upper part of skeletal muscle glycolysis in mice.

The effects of pre-incubation with mercury (Hg2+) and cadmium (Cd2+) on the activities of individual glycolytic enzymes, on the flux and on internal metabolite concentrations of the upper part of glycolysis were investigated in mouse muscle extracts. In the range of metal concentrations analysed we found that only hexokinase and phosphofructokinase, the enzymes that shared the control of the flux, were inhibited by Hg2+ and Cd2+. The concentrations of the internal metabolites glucose-6-phosphate and fructose-6-phosphate did not change significantly when Hg2+ and Cd2+ were added. A mathematical model was constructed to explore the mechanisms of inhibition of Hg2+ and Cd2+ on hexokinase and phosphofructokinase. Equations derived from detailed mechanistic models for each inhibition were fitted to the experimental data. In a concentration-dependent manner these equations describe the observed inhibition of enzyme activity. Under the conditions analysed, the integral model showed that the simultaneous inhibition of hexokinase and phosphofructokinase explains the observation that the concentrations of glucose-6-phosphate and fructose-6-phosphate did not change as the heavy metals decreased the glycolytic flux.
