Personalized touristic routes implementing semantic web on GIS

Nowadays, when a user is planning a touristic route is very difficult to find out which are the best places to visit. The user has to choose considering his/her preferences due to the great quantity of information it is possible to find in the web and taking into account it is necessary to do a selection, within small time because there is a limited time to do a trip. In Itiner@ project, we aim to implement Semantic Web technology combined with Geographic Information Systems in order to offer personalized touristic routes around a region based on user preferences and time situation. Using ontologies it is possible to link, structure, share data and obtain the result more suitable for user's preferences and actual situation with less time and more precisely than without ontologies. To achieve these objectives we propose a web page combining a GIS server and a touristic ontology. As a step further, we also study how to extend this technology on mobile devices due to the raising interest and technological progress of these devices and location-based services, which allows the user to have all the route information on the hand when he/she does a touristic trip. We design a little application in order to apply the combination of GIS and Semantic Web in a mobile device.

Viabilitat i rendiment d'un sistema d'informació geogrà fica en dispositius mòbils per realitzar cà lculs LCP en zona de muntanya sense connexió de xarxa

The aim of this research paper is to present a macroscopic study about the feasibility and the efficiency of mobile devices in computing Least-Cost Path (LCP). This kind of artifact must work in off-line mode and must allow to load data from a mountain zone like digital terrain models and meteorological data.The research strategy has two steps:- First of all, we need to identify the set of software components in order to implement them inside the IT artifact. This set of components should have to be able to do LCP calculations, visualize results and present a well adapted human interface. The main goal of this first steep is to demonstrate the feasibility of a mobile geographic information system by following the ¿Design & Creation¿ research strategy.- In a second time, the goal is to evaluate the reliability and usability of this IT artifact by an ¿Experiments¿ research approach. In this step we want to characterize the behavior of the artifact in terms of fidelity and LCP process speed. This evaluation will be carried out by some external users.During the reading of this paper, we will see that this kind of geographic information system (the IT artifact) has the minimal requirements needed to carry out LCP calculations in mobile devices although it has several limitations and constraints in terms of useability and reliability. We will point out qualitative and quantitative elements related to the IT artifact performances while doing this kind of computations.

MeteoCAT : Visor web SIG de dades meteorològiques

El projecte consisteix en la creació d'un visor web SIG de dades meteorològiques. Esta eina permetrà els usuaris accedir a una web on podran consultar i visualitzar diferents dades cartogràfiques i meteorològiques. A més a més, podran superposar en un mapa diferents conjunts de dades a analitzar, facilitant per tant la feina dels meteoròlegs. Es podrà també accedir a dades de diferents dates i visualitzar un històric de la situació del clima, facilitant la tasca de crear models històrics i permetent veure com ha evolucionat el clima al llarg del temps.

Rendimiento Web Gis en relación a servidores de mapas y sus orígenes de datos

El presente trabajo tiene el propósito de estudiar las herramientas para geoportales en relación a su rendimiento. Para esto se consideran los siguientes parámetros: servidor de mapas como GeoServer y MapServer, y orígenes de datos como son ShapeFile, PostGIS, GML, GeoJSON y WMS.

Primeres dades sobre la reproducció de Scorpaena Notata (Pisces, Teleosti) en el Mediterrani Occidental

S'analitzen diversos caràcters morfomètrics i índexs relacionats amb la reproducció d'una mostra de 260 exemplars de Scorpaena notata. La proporció de mascles és molt més elevada que la de femelles, especialment a les talles més grosses.
