El paisaje del área fuente cenozoica, evolución e implicaciones; correlación con el registro sedimentario de las cuencas

Erosion surfaces are the main geomorphological features of the Hesperian Massif. However, three other physiographic elements define the present state of the landscape. Such are big mountain blocks with polygonal borders building at great scale mountain chains, some more modest ridges following hercynian structural trends, and finally the strong incision of the fluvial net. On the other hand, paleoalterations and associated sediments are the only available ways for relief correlation and interpretation. It consists of a triple relationship giving good results when the regional stratigraphy is well known. Tectonic massifs, differential relief sand incisions are originated by geotectonic alpine disturbances during the Tertiary. The three events are consecutive in time with overlapping lapses which the prior and following element: differencial reliefs as a mesozoic heritage occur first, afterwards morphostructural blocks responding directly to the alpine deformation, and finally the fluvial incision as a delayed answer to the preceding morphostructural changes. The relationship relief sedimentation confirms widely this idea, since an association exists between a siderolitic Cretaceous-lower Paleogene and the differential reliefs, between arkoses from the upper Paleogene and the tectonic morphostructural blocks and between the Neogene Series Ocres and the terraces.

La lista de Angel piedras. Memória de la guerra civil y subalternidad

Ángel Piedras naciô en Nava dei Rey província de Valladolid (Espana), en 1910. Hijo de una família de jomaleros, tambiên él ti"abajó en ei campo hasta los veintiséis afios. Fue detenido y encarcelado en los dias de Ia terrible represión que sucedíó ai alzamíento franquista. Trás 101 dias de condena a muerte, su pena fue conmutada por Ia de cárcel. Salíó indultado en 1944. Ángel Piedras era hermano de mi abuelo, fusílado en Cáceres en enero de 1938. Su testímonio tiene que ver decisivamente con mi ínterés y mi dedicación a Ia historia. Este pequefío ensayo, primera piedra de un trabajo más amplio, es ante todo una prueba de mi admíración y mi agradecimiento hacia él. Guando Ángel Piedras muere en 1997, deja en casa de su hija Petra, persona clave en nuestro trabajo, una caja con materíales muy diversos, entre los que se encontraban vários cuademos, varias listas de represaliados y diversos manuscritos más, principalmente con ripios y poemas memorizados y transcritos por él.

Quadratic programming versus second order con programming in portfolio optimization

Despite the extensive literature in finding new models to replace the Markowitz model or trying to increase the accuracy of its input estimations, there is less studies about the impact on the results of using different optimization algorithms. This paper aims to add some research to this field by comparing the performance of two optimization algorithms in drawing the Markowitz Efficient Frontier and in real world investment strategies. Second order cone programming is a faster algorithm, appears to be more efficient, but is impossible to assert which algorithm is better. Quadratic Programming often shows superior performance in real investment strategies.
