Definição e execução de computações dinâmicas numa linguagem de programação orientada-a-serviços

Os serviços inicialmente idealizados para o mundo dos negócios, têm actualmente um espectro de utilização muito mais lato, facilitando assim a incorporação de software do exterior, sob a representação de serviço, por parte das aplicações. Os principais contribuidores para a emergente utilização de serviços são a proliferação dos dispositivos móveis, a crescente popularidade da computação da nuvem e a ubiquidade da Internet. Apesar deste estado da arte, a abstracção dos serviços continua, maioritariamente, a ser relegada para a camada do middleware. Consequentemente, este confinamento obstem o programador de ter privilégios para interagir com os serviços ao nível da linguagem. A inexistência deste nível de abstracção dificulta o deployment de aplicações dinâmicas. Como medida para tal, o objectivo do nosso trabalho é garantir suporte ao dinamismo e deployment de arquitecturas orientadas a serviços. Com esse propósito, vamos endereçar os problemas de incorporação dos serviços acessíveis pela Web e permitir operações de reconfiguração dos mesmos, nomeadamente, a ligação dinâmica, substituição do fornecedor de serviços e a gestão dinâmica de conjuntos de fornecedores de serviços.

Um Sistema para evolução espácio-temporal de imagens

Atualmente os computadores, os telemóveis mais recentes e as câmaras fotográficas têm o poder de capturar momentos, e estes momentos são gravados em fotografias. Hoje em dia são tiradas imensas fotografias em todas as partes do mundo e com isto surgem alguns problemas, tais como organizar e visualizar as fotografias de forma a transmitir o sentimento e o momento vivido. Procura-se ainda como inovar e dar uma perceção evolutiva de estruturas ou de pessoas captadas nas fotografias. É neste contexto que esta dissertação se insere. A dissertação tem como principal objetivo, oferecer uma ferramenta que consiga proporcionar uma viagem cronológica ao longo do tempo, do passado até ao presente, dado um conjunto de imagens de várias épocas. A ferramenta, chamada Evolapse, permite visualizar uma representação tridimensional de um conjunto de imagens, podendo visualizar imagens de várias épocas para a mesma localização geográfica. A Evolapse processa automaticamente comparações entre imagens e estabelece relações entre as mesmas. Também oferece um método semiautomático para criar as relações. Todas as relações estabelecidas automaticamente e criadas, recorrendo ao método semi-automático, podem ser editadas. A ferramenta foi desenvolvida no âmbito do projeto LX Conventos e os seus resultados são testados no website do projeto. De modo a testar os resultados, a ferramenta produz documentos descritivos que contêm toda a informação necessária para reconstruir a representação tridimensional. O website do projeto LX Conventos ficará disponível ao público, dando a possibilidade a múltiplos utilizadores de visualizarem os resultados gerados pela ferramenta.

Evaluation of drought tolerance in several genotypes of spelt (Triticum aestivum Var. Spelta)

Domestication of plants and plant breeding have dramatically eroded the allelic variations of crop species which led to an increasing susceptibility of crop plants to environmental stresses, diseases and pests. Drought is a major environmental stress factor that affects the growth and development of plants so the selection of tolerant genotypes becomes increasingly important with respect to the predicted effects of global warming. In this study, several genotypes of Spelt (Triticum aestivum var. spelta) were tested under low water supply in soil with the aim of to find Spelt genotypes more resistant than wheat to these conditions, and select them so that in future may be used to improve wheat crops. Morphological analyses were performed and mineral and enzymatic analyses and also dry matter production were calculated. Our results suggests that the genotypes Sp53, Sp96, Sp912, Sp757 and Sp804 are a potential ones to use in breeding programs to improve wheat production. Under drought, these genotypes had growth efficiency of 38%, 45%, 64%, 37%, and 31% respectively and also showed higher biomass than modern wheat and were also mineralogical richer. The genotypes Sp96 and Sp912 showed highest activity of all antioxidants enzymes tested. This work proves that Spelt is a good wheat to continue to study in order to improve wheat crops in dry areas and consequently increase the quality of life and health of the populations living in those areas.

Framework for the semantic alignment of enterprise’s domain knowledge

Nowadays, the consumption of goods and services on the Internet are increasing in a constant motion. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) mostly from the traditional industry sectors are usually make business in weak and fragile market sectors, where customized products and services prevail. To survive and compete in the actual markets they have to readjust their business strategies by creating new manufacturing processes and establishing new business networks through new technological approaches. In order to compete with big enterprises, these partnerships aim the sharing of resources, knowledge and strategies to boost the sector’s business consolidation through the creation of dynamic manufacturing networks. To facilitate such demand, it is proposed the development of a centralized information system, which allows enterprises to select and create dynamic manufacturing networks that would have the capability to monitor all the manufacturing process, including the assembly, packaging and distribution phases. Even the networking partners that come from the same area have multi and heterogeneous representations of the same knowledge, denoting their own view of the domain. Thus, different conceptual, semantic, and consequently, diverse lexically knowledge representations may occur in the network, causing non-transparent sharing of information and interoperability inconsistencies. The creation of a framework supported by a tool that in a flexible way would enable the identification, classification and resolution of such semantic heterogeneities is required. This tool will support the network in the semantic mapping establishments, to facilitate the various enterprises information systems integration.
