The characteristics of school furniture are strongly associated with back and neck pain, referred by school-aged children. In Portugal, about 60% of the adolescents involved in a recent study reported having felt back pain at least once in the last three months. The aim of this study was to compare furniture sizes of the 2 types indicated for primary schools, within 9 schools, with the anthropometric characteristics of Portuguese students, in order to evaluate the mismatch between them. The sample consisted of 432 volunteer students. Regarding the methodology, 5 anthropometric measures were gathered, as well as 5 dimensions from the school furniture. For the evaluation of classroom furniture, a (mis)match criterion equation was defined. Results indicated that there is a significant mismatch between furniture dimensions and the anthropometric characteristics of the students.

The choice of an information systems is a critical factor of success in an organization's performance, since, by involving multiple decision-makers, with often conflicting objectives, several alternatives with aggressive marketing, makes it particularly complex by the scope of a consensus. The main objective of this work is to make the analysis and selection of a information system to support the school management, pedagogical and administrative components, using a multicriteria decision aid system – MMASSITI – Multicriteria Method- ology to Support the Selection of Information Systems/Information Technologies – integrates a multicriteria model that seeks to provide a systematic approach in the process of choice of Information Systems, able to produce sustained recommendations concerning the decision scope. Its application to a case study has identi- fied the relevant factors in the selection process of school educational and management information system and get a solution that allows the decision maker’ to compare the quality of the various alternatives.

2 Centre of Research, Education, Innovation and Intervention In Sport, Faculty of Sport, University of Porto, Portugal Background: Regarding children aged _10 years, only a few international studies were conducted to determine the prevalence of and risk factors for back pain. Although other studies on the older Portuguese children point to prevalence between 17% and 39%, none exists for this specific age-group. Thus, the aim of this study was conducted to establish the prevalence of and risk factors for back pain in schoolchildren aged 7–10 years. Methods: A cross-sectional survey among 637 children was conducted. A self-rating questionnaire was used to verify prevalence and duration of back pain, life habits, school absence, medical treatments or limitation of activities. For posture assessment, photographic records with a bio-photogrammetric analysis were used to obtain data about head, acromion and pelvic alignment, horizontal alignment of the scapulae, vertical alignment of the trunk and vertical body alignment. Results: Postural problems were found in 25.4% of the children, especially in the 8- and 9-year-old groups. Back pain occurs in 12.7% with the highest values among the 7- and 10-year-old children. The probability of back pain increased 7 times when the children presented a history of school absences, 4.3 times when they experienced sleeping difficulties, 4.4 times when school furniture was uncomfortable, 4.7 times if the children perceived an occurrence of parental back pain and 2.5 times when children presented incorrect posture. Conclusions: The combination of school absences, parental pain, sleeping difficulties, inappropriate school furniture and postural deviations at the sagittal and frontal planes seem to prove the multifactorial aetiology of back pain.

Introduction: Cellulite is a complex architectural disorder with multifactorial etiologies that is prevalent in 98% of the women (1). Nowadays several aesthetic treatments are being used: surgical, cosmetic, physical, mechanical, and thermal. (2) Most treatments lack a substantial proof of efficacy. Objective: The purpose of this study was to test and evaluate the efficacy of Ultrasound, Homeopathic Ultrasonophoresis, and Homeopathic Mesotherapy versus control in cellulite in a population of women from ESTSP. Methods: Female volunteers (n=23), Caucasian, aged between 18-31 years, with BMI 19-27 kg/m2 with clinical cellulite gradation on the Cellulite Grading Scale of 1 to 4 were included in a control controlled study. Subjects were assigned in four different groups: Group I (Control, n=6), Group II (Ultrasound, (n=5), Group III (Homeopathic Ultrasonophoresis, n=6), Group IV (Homeopathic Mesotherapy, n=6). Groups II to IV were treated 3 times per week, for a total of 10 sessions. Cellulite gradation was evaluated at the beginning and the end of the trial by means of clinical photography, using a Canon IXUS 65 (6 mega pixels). For homeopathic treatments Dr. Reckeweg® Rekin® 59, 13 and 42 – Dietmed were used. The rating of perceived pain during Homeopathic Mesotherapy was evaluated by a visual analogic scale (VAS). The equipment Sonopuls 692, Enraf-Nonius was used for Ultrasound and Ultrasonophoresis treatments. Results:The higher number of participants with improvement in cellulite graduation occurred in group II (80%), followed group III (50%) and by group IV (33%). The group in which more changes in cellulite gradation occurred was group II, 20% of the individuals improved their score in 2 points. Results were statistically different between Group I and Group II, p=0,015. During the treatments of homeopathic mesotherapy the pain diminished 1 value in VAS scale. Discussion and Conclusion: Although all the three interventions groups were effective in the improvement of cellulite, as expected from previous works described in the literature, (2) only the ultrasound group was statistically different from control. These preliminary results point to the need of a new study using a higher number of participants and the same methodology.
