Tratando-se do próximo grande passo na evolução da indústria automóvel, os veículos eléctricos continuam a apresentar limitações de autonomia, associando-se a esta limitação tempos de carregamento muito alargados, poucos pontos de carregamento e redes eléctricas inteligentes muito embrionárias. Neste contexto exige-se aos condutores um planeamento muito rigoroso da utilização diária do veículo. Neste trabalho é apresentado um sistema de informação que pretende ajudar o condutor na utilização diária do seu veículo eléctrico, minimizando o problema da ansiedade de alcance através do controlo contínuo da autonomia do veículo e da apresentação atempada de informação relevante sobre os pontos de carregamento disponíveis no seu raio de alcance. Dado o sucesso dos sistemas de recomendação, no encaminhamento automático da informação desejada em diversos domínios, esse princípio pode ser aplicado ao problema em causa com o objectivo de maximizar a relevância da informação apresentada ao condutor, a qual deverá ser a estritamente necessária para ele tomar as suas decisões, devendo toda a restante ser filtrada.

Enthalpies of solution of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetra fluoroborate, [BMIm]BF4, are reported at 298.15 K in a set of 15 hydrogen bond donor and hydrogen bond acceptor solvents, chosen by their diversity, namely, water, methanol, ethanol, 1,2-ethanediol, 2-choroethanol, 2-methoxyethanol, formamide, propylene carbonate, nitromethane, acetonitrile, dimethyl sulfoxide, acetone, N,N-dimethylformamide, N,N-dimethylacetamide, and aniline. These values are shown to be largely independent of [BMIm]BF4 concentration. The obtained enthalpies of solution vary from very endothermic to quite exothermic, thus showing a very high sensitivity of the enthalpies of solution of [BMIm]BF4 to solvent properties. Solvent effects on the solution process of this IL are analyzed by a quantitative structure-property relationship methodology, using the TAKA equation and a modified equation, which significantly improves the model's predictive ability. The observed differences in the enthalpies of solution are rationalized in terms of the solvent properties found to be relevant, that is, pi* and E-T(N).

Although there is an abundance of literature concerning the ingestion of food contaminated with aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), only a small number of studies explore mycotoxin exposure in occupational settings. Taking this into consideration, our study was developed with the intention of elucidating whether there is occupational exposure to AFB1 in Portuguese poultry and swine production facilities. A specific biomarker was used to assess exposure to AFB1. A total of 45 workers (34 from poultry farms; 11 from swine production facilities) participated in this study, providing blood samples. Additionally, a control group (n=30) composed of subjects without any type of contact with agricultural activity was considered. All participants signed a consent form and were provided with the study protocol. Eighteen poultry workers (58.6%) and six workers from the swine production facilities (54.5%) showed detectable levels of AFB1. In the control group, the AFB1 values were all below 1 ng/ml. No significant differences in AFB1 levels in serum between workers from poultry and swine farms were found. Poultry workers, however, showed the highest serum levels and a significant statistical difference between this group and the control group was found. Results suggest that exposure to AFB1 by inhalation occurs in both occupational settings representing an additional risk that needs to be recognised, assessed and prevented.

This paper presents a novel moving target indicator which is selective with respect to a direction of interest. Preliminary results indicate that the obtained selectivity may have high interest in civil traffic monitoring using single channel SAR data.
