Vamos, por momentos, esquecer as milhares de guerras que tivemos antes, a tortura pública ou a inquisição ou até alguns massacres e genocídios que fizemos aquando das chamadas descobertas. Em alguns casos, pois os portugueses foram bem mais brandos do que outros “descobridores”, é certo, misturando-se inclusive com os nativos. Os Portugueses, “esse Povo de brandos costumes…”.
