Ibero-Latin-American Symposium of Morphological Terminology. General Characteristics

It describes the main features of SILAT as a multinational scientific and educational program that serves as a tool to analyze and solve the morphological medical terminology problems in Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries of America. It treated history and creation, members, aims and functions, resources, activities, organizational structure, board, relations with other organizations and publications.

Education and the historiography of Ibero-American independence: elusive presences, many absences

This contribution analyses recent historiographical tendencies in research in the field of education at the time of the political emancipation of the former Spanish and Portuguese colonies in Latin America. The article briefly presents the complex educational scene in Latin America on the eve of the movements for independence. Due to the revolutionary character of the process of independence, it identifies educational history as one of the most significant absences in the historiography of independence. Notwithstanding, education has certainly been addressed by historians of education, mostly focusing on the colonial or postcolonial period, while largely neglecting the two decades after 1808. This indicates both the divide prevalent between historians of education and historians of independence and the rather nationalistic conceptual frame of existing scholarship.

Pernambuco, Rio da Prata e a crise do antigo regime na América ibérica: o “caso” de Félix José Tavares Lira

The aim of this article is to discuss conexions between Pernambuco and Rio de la Plata around the year 1817. In a more general sense, it offers a large pattern of comprehension of the indepdendences of Luso and Spanish America in terms of its mutual relationships.

O Brasil diante da questão espanhola na ONU (1946-1950)

This article analyzes the Brazilian procedures regarding the ""Spanish Question"" at the UN, whose debates deal about the international situation of the General Franco's regime. We intend to demonstrate how the international interests, especially regarding the relationships with the USA, determined the position of the Brazilian government concerning the Spanish Question.

These have a two-stage process, involving a declaration on general liability followed by individuals bringing personal compensation claims.
