A new genus and a new species of Clausiidae (Crustacea, Copepoda) parasitic on Dipolydora armata (Polychaeta, Spionidae) in Brazil

A new genus and species of parasitic copepod (Clausiidae), Spionicola mystaceus, associated with the polychaete Dipolydora armata (Spionidae) is described and figured. The new copepod has an elongate body, 5-segmented antennule, 2-segmented rami on legs 1 and 2, 2 spines representing leg 3, no leg 4, leg 5 well developed and reduced armature elements on feeding limbs. The host is a mollusk-shell borer, collected off São Sebastião Island, State of São Paulo, Brazil.

Novas espécies da Guiana Francesa são descritas e figuradas: Trestonia bilineta sp. nov. (Onciderini); Ischnolea odettae sp. nov. (Desmiphorini); Oreodera mageia sp. nov. (Acanthoderini) e Icupima ampliata sp. nov. (Hemilophini). Faz-se um novo registro de Plocaederus fragosoi (Cerambycini) para a Guiana Francesa.

A new species of Phaenocarpa Foerster (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Alysiinae) from Brazil parasitizing Neosilba perezi (Diptera: Lonchaeidae)

This paper provides the description of Phaenocarpa neosilbae sp. n. (Braconidae: Alysiinae) reared from larvae of Neosilba perezi (Romero Ruppel, 1973) (Diptera: Lonchaeidae) in Brazil. Diagnostic characters are figured and the key to the Neotropical species of Phaenocarpa (Arouca Penteado-Dias, 2006) is modified to include the new species.

A new red spider mite from the African oil palm from Brazil (Acari: Tetranychidae)

Tetranychus palmarum sp.nov., a new red spider mite from the African oil palm, is described and figured.

Two new species of Simothraulopsis Traver, 1947 (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae: Atalophlebiinae) from northeastern Brazil

The genus Simothraulopsis contains three described species, one of which occurs in Brazil. The new species Simothraulopsis diamantinensis sp. n. and Simothraulopsis janae sp. n. are figured and described from male imagines. The main discriminating character of these two new species from their congeners is the fused forceps socket. The material was collected in Bahia State in northeastern Brazil.

A review of Skutzia Reiss, 1985, with the description of three new species (Diptera:Chironomidae:Chironominae)

Skutzia epleri sp. n. from USA, S. inthanonensis sp. n. from Thailand, and S. quetzali sp. n. from Panama and Mexico are described and figured as male imagines, and S. gaianii Andersen is recorded from Trinidad and Tobago. The genus now consists of 6 species. In addition to the species mentioned above, S. inopinata Reiss from Canada and S. bahiensis Reiss from Brazil are included. Skutzia is placed in the subtribe Zavreliina of the tribe Tanytarsini, but because the immatures are not known, this placement must be regarded as tentative. The distribution of the genus, previously known only from the Nearctic and the Neotropical regions, is expanded to include the Oriental region, indicating a Beringian connection. An emended diagnosis and a key to the males of Skutzia are provided.

Approximations of modal logics: K and beyond

Inspired by the recent work on approximations of classical logic, we present a method that approximates several modal logics in a modular way. Our starting point is the limitation of the n-degree of introspection that is allowed, thus generating modal n-logics. The semantics for n-logics is presented, in which formulas are evaluated with respect to paths, and not possible worlds.
