In this paper, the performance and convergence time comparisons of various low-complexity LMS algorithms used for the coefficient update of adaptive I/Q corrector for quadrature receivers are presented. We choose the optimum LMS algorithm suitable for low complexity, high performance and high order QAM and PSK constellations. What is more, influence of the finite bit precision on VLSI implementation of such algorithms is explored through extensive simulations and optimum wordlengths established.

The I/Q mismatches in quadrature radio receivers results in finite and usually insufficient image rejection, degrading the performance greatly. In this paper we present a detailed analysis of the Blind-Source Separation (BSS) based mismatch corrector in terms of its structure, convergence and performance. The results indicate that the mismatch can be effectively compensated during the normal operation as well as in the rapidly changing environments. Since the compensation is carried out before any modulation specific processing, the proposed method works with all standard modulation formats and is amenable to low-power implementations.

I and Q Channel phase and gain mismatches are of great concern in communications receiver design. In this paper we carry out a detailed performance analysis of the Blind-Source Seperation (BSS) based imbalance compensation structure. The results indicate that the BSS structure can offer adequate performance for most communication systems. Since the compensation is carried out before any modulation specific processing, the proposed compensation method works with all standard modulation formats.

I and Q Channel phase and gain misniatches are of great concern in communications receiver design. In this paper we analyse the effects of I and Q channel mismatches and propose a low-complexity blind adaptive algorithm to minimize this problem. The proposed solution consists of two, 2-tap adaptive filters, arranged in Adaptive Noise Canceller (ANC) set-up, with the output of one cross-fed to the input of the other. The system works as a de-correlator eliminating I and Q mismatch errors.

The advantages a DSL and the benefits its use potentially brings imply that informed decisions on the design of a domain specific language are of paramount importance for its use. We believe that the foundations of such decisions should be informed by analysis of data empirically collected from systems to highlight salient features that should then form the basis of a DSL. To support this theory, we describe an empirical study of a large OSS called Barcode, written in C, and from which we collected two well-known 'slice' based metrics. We analyzed multiple versions of the system and sliced its functions in three separate ways (i.e., input, output and global variables). The purpose of the study was to try and identify sensitivities and traits in those metrics that might inform features of a potential slice-based DSL. Results indicated that cohesion was adversely affected through the use of global variables and that appreciation of the role of function inputs and outputs can be revealed through slicing. The study presented is motivated primarily by the problems with current tools and interfaces experienced directly by the authors in extracting slicing data and the need to promote the benefits that analysis of slice data and slicing in general can offer.

This paper presents SecGOD. A tool that protects the privacy of documents created with online office suites. SecGOD is implemented as a Greasemonkey java-script making it deployable on all popular greesemonkey compatible browsers and utilizes symmetric key encryption. All operations run on the client side, with SecGOD operating invisibly as concerned by the cloud, with no changes needed to the code that is provided to the cloud server provider. Finally, the effectiveness of SecGOD is demonstrated by conducting extensive experiments measuring the processing time for the three versions of AES (128, 192, 256 bits).

This paper analyzes peer effects among siblings in the decision to leave parental home. Estimating peer effects is challenging because of problems of refection, endogenous group formation, and correlated unobservables. We overcome these issues using the exogenous variation in siblings' household formation implied by the eligibility rules for a Spanish rental subsidy. Our results show that sibling effects are negative and that these effects can be explained by the presence of old or ill parents. Sibling effects turn positive from older to younger close-in-age siblings, when imitation is more likely to prevail. Our findings indicate that policy makers who aim at fostering household formation should target the household rather than the individual and combine policies for young adults with policies for the elderly.
