The intellectual structure of research in hospitality management: A literature review using bibliometric methods of the journal International Journal of Hospitality Management

The purpose of this study is to analyze the existing literature on hospitality management from all the research papers published in The International Journal of Hospitality Management (IJHM) between 2008 and 2014. The authors apply bibliometric methods – in particular, author citation and co-citation analyses (ACA) – to identify the main research lines within this scientific field; in other words, its ‘intellectual structure’. Social network analysis (SNA) is also used to perform a visualization of this structure. The results of the analysis allow us to define the different research lines or fronts which shape the intellectual structure of research on hospitality management.

Chinese Outward Foreign Direct Investment: A Review of Empirical Research

In the past decade, Chinese outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) has become a major element of global capital flows. As a consequence, recent years have witnessed an increasing growth in the number of papers focusing on Chinese companies “going global.” This paper reviews 112 empirical papers focusing on Chinese OFDI that were published in major scholarly journals between 2002 and 2014. We report on individual and institutional contributions, citations, the theories and methods used and the research topics. We also identify the research gaps and discuss the implications of our literature review for future theory building.

Gestión medioambiental y gestión de la calidad

Esta memoria refleja el trabajo de la red 3262 Gestión medioambiental y gestión de la calidad durante el curso 2014-15. El objetivo de la red en este curso ha sido analizar varios aspectos de la asignatura “Gestión de la calidad y del medio ambiente”. Es una asignatura de cuarto curso del Grado en Administración y Dirección de Empresas de la Universidad de Alicante. Como su nombre indica, la asignatura analiza dos sistemas de gestión (gestión de la calidad y gestión del medio ambiente). Este análisis consiste en comparar las opiniones de los alumnos de los dos primeros años de impartición de la asignatura. Para ello, por un lado, utilizamos información cuantitativa basada en las respuestas del alumnado a un cuestionario sobre el grado de dificultad y utilidad de los diversos elementos y actividades del sistema de evaluación. Por otro lado utilizamos información cualitativa basada en la respuesta a una serie de preguntas abiertas sobre el trabajo en grupo y salidas profesionales, entre otros aspectos.
