THE SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION OF PSYCHOSOCIAL CARE CENTERS

The objective of this study was to present a panoramic view of the scientific production regarding Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS). This literature review was performed using the LILACS, MEDLINE, and SciELO databases. Sixty-eight references were selected, most of which were journal articles (88.24%) and studies related to final graduate study essays (10.29%); 75% of the references found dating from 2003 were included. The following are highlighted among the most frequent objectives: the analysis and evaluation of the new proposal for mental health care, represented by Psychiatric Reform and by CAPS, and the analysis of mental health professionals and their expectations towards the services. The authors hope the present review will help find pathways and implications that lead to new studies and practices in the everyday work of health care services.

Alternatives exist: analysis of scientific literature in two Brazilian journals about the pedagogical work of Physical Education

Considering that the process of teacher training in universities takes into account the confrontation of knowledge produced by the scientific methods, the current study intended to identify what are the main contributions of the Brazilian scientific production of Physical Education teaching. Therefore, an exploratory study was done from the articles published on the subject in the two main periodicals of the area. The data analyzes allowed us to verify the relevancy of the knowledge produced and to suggest alternatives to its inclusion in the docent training programs.

Teses e dissertações em ciência da informação: multidisciplinaridade não revelada na avaliação da produção científica

Reflexão sobre o perfil da comunidade de pesquisadores em Ciência da Informação na ECA/USP, que emerge das análises de indicadores de formação e titulação do corpo docente dos programas de pós-graduação, em relação ao perfil temático das dissertações e teses orientadas. As linhas e os grupos de pesquisa cadastrados no CNPq são elementos de referência na categorização temática da produção científica da área. Partindo da hipótese de que ementas são elaboradas para acomodar interesses heterogêneos de pesquisadores e não refletem a produção da área, foi realizado estudo para analisar o conteúdo temático e objetos de análise das orientações efetuadas de 1999-2004 para avaliar sua pertinência em relação às linhas e grupos de pesquisa. Os resultados mostram uma gama de trabalhos de pesquisa de corpos teóricos diferentes, com novos temas incluídos no bojo da produção acadêmica que confirmam a multidisciplinaridade presente no programa mas, normalmente, não revelada plenamente nos estudos de avalição dessa mesma produção, em função das categorias utilizadas para análise e apresentação de resultados

Produção Científica em Turismo: análise de estudos referenciais no exterior e no Brasil

Pesquisa documental, de caráter exploratório, que descreve e analisa os enfoques e resultados de um conjunto de estudos sobre a produção científica em Turismo no exterior e no Brasil, com base em levantamento bibliográfico e análise de conteúdo. Com o objetivo de discutir a relevância e o estágio evolutivo do conhecimento turístico, apresenta uma amostra de estudos referenciais sobre o tema no exterior e mapeia 24 estudos produzidos nessa temática no Brasil de 1993 a 2008, destacando diferentes objetivos, objetos de estudo, metodologias e resultados. A maioria das pesquisas no exterior apresenta-se como quantitativa, centra-se em periódicos científicos e destaca-se pelo referencial teórico e a metodologia adotada. No Brasil, embora a maioria das pesquisas privilegie as dissertações e teses acadêmicas enquanto objeto de estudo há maior diversidade deste; nota-se, porém, certo distanciamento em relação ao referencial teórico e metodológico dos estudos do exterior.

Do the physical discomforts from breast cancer treatments affect the sexuality of women who underwent mastectomy?

The objective of this integrative review is to analyze the scientific production addressing the sexuality of women with breast cancer following mastectomy, focused on the effects that the physical discomfort due to cancer treatments have on their sex life. The search included articles published in the period between 2000 and 2009 on the MEDLINE, LILACS and PsycINFO databases, using the following descriptors: mastectomy, breast neoplasms, sexuality, sexual behavior, amputation, psychosexual development, and marital relations. Nine articles were selected, which addressed the effects of the physical discomfort from cancer treatments on the patients' sexuality. The findings revealed that, even when the patient's sex life is intense and fulfilling before the disease, factors such as stress, pain, fatigue, insult to body image, and low self-esteem due to the treatments may alter the sexual functioning of the affected woman. Healthcare professionals must be sensitized in order to welcome and include the topic in policies as well as in preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic strategies.

Astrobiology in Brazil: early history and perspectives

This review reports the Brazilian history in astrobiology, as well as the first delineation of a vision of the future development of the field in the country, exploring its abundant biodiversity, highly capable human resources and state-of-the-art facilities, reflecting the last few years of stable governmental investments in science, technology and education, all conditions providing good perspectives on continued and steadily growing funding for astrobiology-related research. Brazil is growing steadily and fast in terms of its worldwide economic power, an effect being reflected in different areas of the Brazilian society, including industry, technology, education, social care and scientific production. In the field of astrobiology, the country has had some important landmarks, more intensely after the First Brazilian Workshop on Astrobiology in 2006. The history of astrobiology in Brazil, however, is not so recent and had its first occurrence in 1958. Since then, researchers carried out many individual initiatives across the country in astrobiology-related fields, resulting in an ever growing and expressive scientific production. The number of publications, including articles and theses, has particularly increased in the last decade, but still counting with the effort of researchers working individually. That scenario started to change in 2009, when a formal group of Brazilian researchers working with astrobiology was organized, aiming at congregating the scientific community interested in the subject and to promote the necessary interactions to achieve a multidisciplinary work, receiving facilities and funding from the University de Sao Paulo and other funding agencies. Describing some of the Dimensions that comprise the Profile of the Faculty Staff of Statistics Departments in Brazil

Statistics is a required course in virtually all undergraduate programs in Brazilian universities. In addition, undergraduate programs in Statistics are offered in many public universities. However, despite the importance of this science, there are no systematic studies in the national literature regarding the characterization of the faculty staff, which is responsible for the teaching of statistics in the country. In this context, this paper presents a description of the faculty members of undergraduate courses in Statistics. This description was based on a descriptive sample, related to aspects of their education and scientific production. A prediction of future demand for PhDs in Statistics to fill the vacancies is also provided based on the retirement of faculty members in undergraduate courses in Statistics in the country.

French-Brazilian school of nephrology

The recent history of French and Brazilian medicine goes back to the first decades of the xixth century. As regards nephrology, the first links were established starting in the 1950s of the xxth century. Over the past 60 years, the scientific production of the Franco-Brazilian school of nephrology totalized more than a thousand scientific papers and created a new generation of more than two hundred disciples, formed in Brazil by nephrologists who had completed their studies in France. In this article, we would like to memorize the successive exchanges between French and Brazilian physicians, mainly in the field of nephrology. (C) 2012 Association Societe de nephrologie. Grupos de pesquisa em educação em Enfermagem: linhas de pesquisa e produção científica em três regiões do Brasil

Este estudo objetivou identificar as temáticas das linhas de pesquisa (LP) e da produção científica publicada pelos Grupos de Pesquisa em Educação em Enfermagem (GPEE) das regiões Norte, Nordeste e Centro-Oeste do Brasil. Pesquisa documental, descritiva e exploratória. Identificaram-se 12 GPEE, 45 linhas de pesquisa e 448 artigos científicos, 60% dos quais foram publicados em revistas A, B1 e B2. Nesses GPEE, 36% das LP foram sobre educação, porém somente 25% das publicações abordaram este assunto, enquanto 34% das LP enfocaram o tema cuidado, que foi objeto de 44% das publicações. Há necessidade de repensar a organização dos GPEE a partir de linhas e projetos de pesquisa para favorecer a consolidação da temática da Educação em Enfermagem na produção de conhecimentos da área.

Spiritual dimension of children and adolescents with cancer: an integrative review

OBJECTIVE: To review scientific literature relating to the spiritual dimension of children and adolescents with cancer. METHODS: We conducted an integrative literature review in the LILACS, SciELO, PsycINFO and MEDLINE databases in the period between 1990 to 2011. RESULTS: Twenty-one studies were analyzed and grouped into thematic categories: quality of life and elements of spirituality; alternative and complementary therapies: spirituality as a therapeutic resource; spirituality as a coping strategy and spirituality as an attribute of existential transformations. It was found that spirituality is present at different stages of the disease experience and that its forms of expression may vary, according to age and cognitive development. CONCLUSION: There is a scarcity of specific scales for this age range and a need for scientific production relating to the spiritual dimension of children and adolescents with cancer. Avaliação de resultados da capacitação via estágios pós-doutorais: breves notas sobre a produção científica em periódicos

A pesquisa teve como objetivo avaliar a influência do estágio pós-doutoral sobre a produção científica, notadamente das hard sciences de docentes atuantes em programas de pós-graduação da Universidade de São Paulo (USP). O estudo busca a mensuração de variações da produção registrada em periódicos científicos em um panorama ex ante e ex post e encontra-se circunscrito nessas quatro grandes áreas do conhecimento: Biológicas, Engenharias, Exatas e da Terra e Saúde. O pós-doutorado pode ser visualizado como um local privilegiado para a complementaridade da capacitação docente enquanto forma de atualização e/ou reciclagem profissional, com a lógica embutida e a expectativa de que haja benefícios, também, para o programa de pós-graduação de origem. Como toda atividade de pesquisa não pode ficar implícita, as atividades de pesquisa do pós-doutorado, também, necessitam ser tornadas públicas via conhecimento externalizado que se traduz no conhecimento cristalizado sob a forma de publicações científicas que são compartilhadas pela comunidade acadêmica. Com uma população de 86 doutores que realizaram pósdoutorado até junho de 2005, os dados levantados com o confronto da produção em Ciência e Tecnologia (C&T), antes e depois do treinamento pós-doutoral apontam para um comportamento de variação da produtividade em mídia qualificada cujo resultado demonstra uma "homogeneização" relativa entre publicações registradas em periódicos Qualis 'B' e 'C', nacionais e/ou internacionais, mas sugere haver diferenças no que tange a uma influência sobre o aumento de publicações em revistas Internacionais Qualis 'A' possuindo influência positiva mais visível sobre essa produção para estágios realizados no Exterior, nas grandes áreas do conhecimento investigadas.

Para além das grades e punições: uma revisão sistemática sobre a saúde penitenciária

A systematic review of scientific production on Prison Health was conducted, seeking to verify how the subject matter has been dealt with, establishing which is the most exploited focus and identifying possible gaps. The search was carried out in the Virtual Health Library. 1160 articles were located: 1104 on MEDLINE, 19 on LILACS and 37 on SciELO, published from 1993 to 2010. As MEDLINE and LILACS do not show the entire articles, the places, dates and languages of the texts were charted. In-depth analysis was restricted to works which were shown in their entirety and free of charge hosted on SciELO. It revealed that scientific production is present all over the world with a predominantly quantitative approach. It focuses on identifying the socio-demographic profile and health conditions of prisoners, the incidence of tuberculosis, Human Immunodeficiency and Hepatitis C virus infections. There is a predominance of studies carried out with male prisoners, in comparison with the female sex. It is clear that prisoner health is a public health problem on the rise, which demands research that can orient health policies and strategies.
