The fading of persistent luminescence in Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,R3+ (R: Y, La-Nd, Sm-Lu) was studied combining thermoluminescence (TL) and room temperature (persistent) luminescence measurements to gain more information on the mechanism of persistent luminescence. The TL glow curves showed the main trap signal at ca. 80 degrees C, corresponding to 0.6 eV as the trap depth, with every R co-dopant. The TL measurements carried out with different irradiation times revealed the general order nature of the TL bands. The results obtained from the deconvolutions of the glow curves allowed the prediction of the fading of persistent luminescence with good accuracy, though only when using the Becquerel decay law. Corrections to the revision of Rhopalessa Bates, 1873 (Clarke et al. 2011), with the transfer of two species to a new genus, Rashelapso: R. durantoni (Peñaherrera-Leiva & Tavakilian, 2004) comb. nov., and R. schmidi sp. nov. (previously considered to be conspecific with Ommata (Rhopalessa) rubroscutellaris Tippmann, 1960 by the authors). Ommata (Rhopalessa) rubroscutellaris is now considered a junior synonym of Laedorcari fulvicollis (Lacordaire, 1868).

Analysis of the NCAR/NCEP Reanalysis show changes in the atmospheric circulation in the Southern hemisphere, with a strengthening and poleward displacement of the westerlies. Because the wind is one of the main sources of the ocean's kinetic energy, a numerical experiment with the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) was forced with monthly means of the NCAR/NCEP Reanalysis products to investigate the effects of the changes in the wind on the ocean circulation in a geographical domain defined by 98W – 114E; 65S – 60N. The results show good agreement with other models and with available satellite data. In the western sector of the South Atlantic there are several indications of changes such as a poleward displacement of the Brazil-Malvinas Confluence and positive trends in temperature and salinity of the southwestern region of the subtropical gyre
