Magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Data analysis for clinical applications

This text is taken from the postgraduate thesis, which one of the authors (A.B.) developed for the degree of Medical Physicist in the School on Medical Physics of the University of Florence. The text explores the feasibility of quantitative Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy as a tool for daily clinical routine use. The results and analysis comes from two types of hyper spectral images: the first set are hyper spectral images coming from a standard phantom (reference images); and hyper spectral images obtained from a group of patients who have undergone MRI examinations at the Santa Maria Nuova Hospital. This interdisciplinary work stems from the IFAC-CNR know how in terms of data analysis and nanomedicine, and the clinical expertise of Radiologists and Medical Physicists. The results reported here, which were the subject of the thesis, are original, unpublished, and represent independent work.

Cities at risk: status of Italian planning system in reducing seismic and hydrological risks

Italy and its urban systems are under high seismic and hydrogeological risks. The awareness about the role of human activities in the genesis of disasters is achieved in the scientific debate, as well as the role of urban and regional planning in reducing risks. The paper reviews the state of Italian major cities referred to hydrogeological and seismic risk by: 1) extrapolating data and maps about seismic hazard and landslide risk concerning cities with more than 50.000 inhabitants and metropolitan contexts, and 2) outlining how risk reduction is framed in Italian planning system (at national and regional levels). The analyses of available data and the review of the normative framework highlight the existing gaps in addressing risk reduction: nevertheless a wide knowledge about natural risks afflicting Italian territory and an articulated regulatory framework, the available data about risks are not exhaustive, and risk reduction policies and multidisciplinary pro-active approaches are only partially fostered and applied.

Il presente Studio di fattibilità è stato redatto al fine dell'Adesione del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche all'Associazione di Diritto Belga denominata "Alliance Européenne de Recherche dans la Domaine de l’Énergie Association Internationale Sans But Lucratif / Internationale Vereniging Zonder Winstoogmerk" (in breve EERA AISBL/IVZW). Tale documento è stato sottoposto al Consiglio di Amministrazione del CNR che lo ha approvato con Delibera N°56/2015

La ricerca e il gruppo esperienziale nell’ambito del progetto “www…parliamonepure.it” realizzato nel carcere di Castelvetrano (TP)

Nel panorama nazionale si discute poco degli autori dei reati sessuali, infatti l’attenzione dell’opinione pubblica e dei diversi attori sociali è più rivolta alle vittime dei reati sessuali. Ancora poco si affronta il problema legato al trattamento dei pedofili e dei violentatori di donne, nonostante l’argomento meriti approfondimenti anche in ambito penitenziario. Appare necessario ed opportuno individuare, nell’ambito del lavoro trattamentale, un modello operativo finalizzato alla ricerca di strategie che orientino il condannato per reati sessuali verso un percorso di analisi degli agiti. Ciò assume una rilevanza particolare nel trattamento dei detenuti sex offenders, pur riconoscendo la valenza del percorso trattamentale rivolto a qualsiasi tipologia di detenuti. L’esperienza realizzata presso la Casa Circondariale di Castelvetrano, descritta nel presente articolo, ha consentito, attraverso l’uso di una metodologia di lavoro di gruppo, di rilevare a carico dei soggetti partecipanti un quadro di consistente difficoltà nei percorsi di approfondimento e di analisi personale. In Italy, there has been little discussion about sex offenders. In fact, public and social actors��� attention has focused more on the victims of sex crimes rather than on criminals, so little importance is given to resocialization programs for paedophiles and rapists, even if this topic is worth exploring particularly in prisons. In the treatment phase, it is necessary and considered appropriate to identify an operational model aimed to orientate the sex offenders towards a process of analysis of their deviant behaviours. Through the methodology of the experiential group, the project carried out at Castelvetrano prison has highlighted the severe difficulties in personal analysis encountered by the sex offenders involved.

Comunicazione urbana nelle città storiche del Sol Levante: l'esperienza di Kyoto tra tradizione e innovazione

The book collects the Papers (from Europe, Asia and Latin America) presented at the Workshop organized by the ICOMOS International Committee in Historic Towns and Villages (CIVVIH) and by ICOMOS Italy in Palazzo Coppini (branch of Fondazione Romualdo del Bianco) in Florence (March 3-4, 2016) and focus on the comparison of different propositions of digital urban signage to realize a good quality of the “visit experience” in the historical towns, not only as urban marketing, but of a authenticity genuine culture. The urban culture founded on the identity and authenticity of every historical towns and their multilayered history must be the objective of an tourism of culture for the inhabitants and the visitors. The book focused its interest on the outstanding existing urban assets in Europe, Asia and Latin America, and heritage not sufficiently promoted.
