Annotated almanac, 1777

Almanac containing interleaved pages and sporadic annotations on the calendar pages by John Winthrop. The calendar pages are typically annotated with one or two notes at the bottom recording household activities. The interleaved pages contain entries with almost daily notes of social engagements and travel during the year. One interleaved leaf contains short miscellaneous entries about local deaths including the death and funeral of Harvard Tutor John Wadsworth (July 12), Revolutionary war battles, an illness (May 27), a description of changing currency (June 27), Doctor Doddridge's epigram "Dum vivimus vivamus" beginning "'Live while you live,' the Epicure will say...", and a short list of legal activities such as citations and wills performed in Winthrop's capacity as a Judge of Probate.

Almanac containing interleaved pages and sporadic annotations of household activities on the calendar pages by John Winthrop. The front inside cover has some accounting entries. The interleaved pages contain entries with almost daily notes of social engagements and travel for January through May 1, a list of the "Agents in Middlsesx 1779 & Comrs," and a list of citations made in January-April in Winthrop's capacity as a Judge of Probate. There is also a laid-in leaf with some accounting figures.

Annotated almanac, 1776

Almanac with one interleaved page and minimal annotations of household activities on the calendar pages in the hands of John and Hannah Winthrop. The interleaved page contains a monthly accounting for January -December 1776 by John Winthrop of payment received in his capacity as a Judge of Probate. Common entries include "Probat at Concord," "citation,"and "will & warrant."

Opinions in cases of debt, 1748-1749

Opinions rendered in cases brought against Thomas Barker, executor of the estate of Robert Forstor, by James and Roger Barlow (executors of the estate of Thomas Forster), Sibylla Price, and Richard Foster. The attorney for all plaintiffs was Samuel Swann.

Alphabetical catalog of Harvard College graduates through 1767, 1767

This hard-bound manuscript catalog alphabetically lists the men who graduated from Harvard College between 1642 and 1767. It is believed to be the first such list compiled. Entries contain each graduate's surname (in English), given name (in Latin), year of graduation, and occasional additional information. Francis Foxcroft (A.B. 1712) compiled the catalog. Entries for those who graduated between 1764 and 1767 have been added at the end of each alphabetical section.

Certification of payment from Oliver Prescott, 1747 September 23

Handwritten certificate of payment for a new red and plaid gown purchased by Harvard sophomore Oliver Prescott in 1747. The certificate is witnessed by upperclassmen Artemas Ward, Jacob Cushing, and Timothy Pond.

One-page sheet with a handwritten Latin thesis defended by graduate Oliver Prescott in the 1750 Harvard College Commencement ceremony. The document is signed: "H. College July 3, 1750 Oliver Prescott. Verso: "Theses read when I took my degree 1750."

Quaedam Theses extractae potissimii ex Enchiridio Metaphisico ca. 1718

Small paper notebook with a handwritten copy of a Latin text titled “Quaedam Theses extractae potissimii ex Enchiridio Metaphisico” attributed to John Clark and J. Remington and copied by a Harvard student, likely Richard Dana (Harvard AB 1718). The text is a précis of sections of Jean Le Clerc's "Ontologia et Pneumatologia" prepared by Harvard Tutor Jonathan Remington (Harvard AB 1696). The paper cover is inscribed “Carpenter” and the first page includes the inscriptions “Rosewell Saltonstall,” “Ezra Carpenter,” and "R. Dana” indicating the book was once owned by Harvard students Richard Dana (Harvard AB 1718), Roswell Saltonstall (Harvard AB 1720), and Ezra Carpenter (Harvard AB 1720).
