The date of this list is written on the document in pencil, possibly in the hand of John Langdon Sibley. Its source and the reason for its attribution are not currently known. Document indicates that books arrived "in the two Boxes marked R. O."

Lists books borrowed by those with surnames Wyeth, Goodhue, Eliot, Langdon, Adams, Apthorp, Bowdoin, Chardon, and Mayhew. Entries include format, title, author, and volume number. Written in multiple hands.

Letter from Dr. Nathaniel Lardner to Jasper Mauduit listing books donated to Harvard, July 12, 1764, and manuscript copy of the letter

A pencilled note in the hand of John Langdon Sibley reads: "Probably the handwriting of Dr. Lardner." Sibley based his attribution on a letter from Nathaniel Lardner to Edward Wigglesworth, also written July 12, 1764, in the Houghton Library's autograph file during the nineteenth century. Verso of letter contains list, in another hand, of books donated to Harvard by Joseph Jennings.

A pencilled annotation in the hand of John Langdon Sibley reads: "Is not this the bequest of Thos. Hubbard in 1773-4." Thomas Hubbard, who served as Harvard's treasurer and as Commissary General of the Province of Massachusetts Bay, died in 1773.

A pencilled annotation on the verso, in the hand of John Langdon Sibley, reads: "There is some mistake about this. It must be Thomas Wibird, I think."

Bracketed annotation made by John Langdon Sibley in Feb. 1842: "The books on this & the three succeeding pages, I find on examination, to have been given by Gov. Bernard." On the fourth page, presumably also in 1842, Sibley wrote: "This is a list of donations by Gov. Bernard, & not by Hollis."
