This layer is a georeferenced raster image of the historic paper map entitled: Map of the valley of the Amazon : to accompany Lt. Herndon's report, drawn by H.C. Elliot. It was published by A. Hoen in 1853. Scale [ca. 1:6,750,000]. Covers the Amazon River Basin, South America. The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the 'World Mercator' projection.
