List of benefactors who contributed to replacement of books and philosophical apparatus, 1765

This document lists the names of subscribers who promised funds towards the rebuilding of the library and philosophical apparatus. Entries are divided among three columns, "Apparatus," "Library," and "At large," and include the donor's name and amount promised. Gifts to the library included actual books as well as funds for book purchases.

"Dr. Avery" is Benjamin Avery. For further records concerning his bequest to the library, see Box 1 Folders 9-12 and Box 2 Folder 2 of this collection.

List of books believed to be bequest of Thomas Hubbard, undated

A pencilled annotation in the hand of John Langdon Sibley reads: "Is not this the bequest of Thos. Hubbard in 1773-4." Thomas Hubbard, who served as Harvard's treasurer and as Commissary General of the Province of Massachusetts Bay, died in 1773.

List of books donated by Richard Wibird and Mr. Longman, undated

A pencilled annotation on the verso, in the hand of John Langdon Sibley, reads: "There is some mistake about this. It must be Thomas Wibird, I think."

List of books donated by Thaddeus Mason, undated

This list specifies which books were designated for the "small library" and which were for the "great library."
