Annotated almanac, 1775

Almanac containing one laid-in leaf and minimal annotations on the calendar pages in the hands of Hannah and John Winthrop. The calendar pages are typically annotated with one or two notes at the bottom recording household activities. The folded laid-in leaf contains entries in Hannah Winthrop's hands noting household accounts and activities, and burials and baptisms for Cambridge in 1775 in John Winthrop's hand.

Almanac with one folded interleaved page and minimal annotations of household activities on the calendar pages in the hands of John and Hannah Winthrop. The interleaved leaf contains notes of burials and baptisms for Cambridge in 1777 in John Winthrop's hand, and some notes of household activities in Hannah Winthrop's hand. The laid-in page contains notes about hay and some calculation. The folded interleaved leaf contains entries about household activities in Hannah Winthrop's hand, notes of burials and baptisms for Cambridge in 1779 begun in John Winthrop's hand and finished by Hannah Winthrop. Hannah's entries include, "died May the 3 Honorable Dr Winthrop 6h 1/2 Languishment Buried the 8."

Annotated almanac, 1755

Almanac containing calendar pages with sporadic annotations of measurements and small one-word notes. Winthrop often corrected the almanac's printed chart for the rising and setting of the sun. There are a few handwritten entries including a note in Latin about Winthrop's mother. An unattached sheet of paper folded into the almanac has burial and baptism statistics for Boston and Charleston, and entries about General Braddock's defeat by the French (July 9), a battle between General Johnson and the French and Indians under the Baron de Dieskau (September 8), the execution of two slaves for murdering their master (September 18), and a note that President Holyoke preached the Dudleian lecture (November 25).

Almanac with one interleaved folded leaf and annotations made by John and Hannah Winthrop. The calendar pages are typically annotated with one or two notes at the bottom recording household activities, and a tabulation of miles traveled. The laid-in leaf includes sporadic entries about asthma fits and household activities by Hannah Winthrop, and entries on firing the household chimneys, baptisms and deaths in the community, and a bill of mortality for 1771 in John Winthrop's hand.

Nine small scraps of paper used by Pearson to note references to certain articles in the College Books. The notes are brief, for example "Professors' salaries p. 112," and refer to professorship rules, inductions, or salaries. The slips were originally folded into a little packet labeled "References to certain articles in Coll Books." One note was written on a scrap of a letter dated October 1, 1804.

One leaf containing handwritten research questions regarding the taxation of the College and tax exemptions offered to ministers. The paper was originally folded in three sections and a portion of the third section is missing.
