Record of parcel of lands in Norwich, CT deeded to a group of individuals including many members of the same families around 1770.

Written mostly in a copperplate hand in black ink, and illustrated with watercolor drawings.

Latin exercise book of James Baker, 1759-1760

Small notebook kept by James Baker in the late 1750s; the dates 1755, 1756, and 1758 were written in the book. The volume contains Latin theses, Latin translations from the Book of Genesis, and three pages of English text recording an argument about the soul. The notebook has a string binding and pages of different size. The text does not appear to follow a system of organization and includes scribbles and struck-out words.

Grammatica graeca, 1763

Bound volume containing a handwritten Greek grammar compiled by Joseph Drury beginning in 1763. The last sixteen pages contain a historical poem beginning, “Mason might once assert a Poets Claim. / But he must needs write.” The poem contains references to the “Great Patriot P—,“ the Roman conquest of Gall, Caeser, Versailles, and includes the verses, “How the King doth all his Cooks excel / Besides he longs to kiss his P / Saving your presence Louis keeps a whore.”

One letter from Bentley, a Unitarian minister in Salem, praising Tudor’s work on James Otis and offering his recollections of Otis from the late 18th century.

VI. Genealogy, ca. 1900s

This six-page handwritten genealogy of the Bailey family beginning with John Bayley (dued 1659) of Chippingham, England traces approximately four generations of family members born into the late-18th century. John Bailey (born 1765) is identified as "our grandfather." The genealogy does not include dates.

Four-page 18th century handwritten copy of the deed between the "Committee or Agents for the Indian Proprietors of the Plantation of Natick" and the Trustees for 800 acres of land in Middlesex County known as Maguntaquog.

Binding papers, 1775-1928

The binding papers contain lists of volumes bound for the Harvard library in the form of lists and bills. The books are generally identified by title, volume size (octavo, quarto, folio, etc.), or both. The series includes two 18th century documents. The first document is a one-page January 22, 1775 bill to Harvard College from "Dr. And'r Barclay" for the binding and numbering of books. Books are identified by volume size. The second document is a one-page "List of books belonging to the Library which it is necessary should be new-bound" with an initial list signed by James Winthrop the Librarian on December 13, 1786, an additional list made on April 7, 1787, and subsequent notes made in May 1787. The books are indicated by title and size.

Sermons : manuscript, 1788-1791

Nine sermons concerning Revelations 7, Hebrews 7, Psalms 174, Matthew 16, and other chapters, delivered chiefly at Hampton, New Hampshire. Includes an epitaph in memory of Thayer.

Bill of disbursments [for the] sch[oone]r Lydia : manuscript, 1790

List of ship's expenses between Feb. 7 and May 25; dated at Aux Cayes, (Haiti) May 27, 1790; includes money paid to an interpreter at Tobago, workers for ship maintenance, and various harbor officials; and notation of purchases for goods such as sugar, coffee, rice, tar, food, and rum.

Septenary : manuscript, 1737-1745, 1755

Diary dated 1737 Sept. 19-1745 Aug. 19, chiefly concerns Robbins' personal religious faith. Also includes notes for a sermon on the death of Maj. Isaac Foot, who died in the French and Indian War.
