This layer is a georeferenced raster image of the historic paper map entitled: Map of the Chatham Islands, from surveys by S.P. Smith & John Robertson, 1868 & 1883. It was published by General Survey Office in 1887. Scale [ca. 1:126,720].The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the World Miller Cylindrical projected coordinate system. All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, index maps, legends, or other information associated with the principal map. This map shows features such as drainage, cities and other human settlements, roads, shoreline features, and more. Relief shown by hachures. Includes inset: Waitangi; Plan of Rangiauria or Pitt Id. [Letter from William Emerson to John Sale], 1819 December 3

Letter signed by William Emerson requesting John Sale pay the scholarship funds. The author of the letter is likely the son of the Reverend William Emerson, who died in 1811. William Emerson (1801-1868) received an AB from Harvard in 1818; his brother Ralph Waldo Emerson (Harvard AB 1821) received the Penn Scholarship from 1817 to 1820.

Annotated almanac, 1788

Almanac interleaved with pages containing household account entries and containing annotations on the calendar pages. The interleaved pages contain entries of baptisms and burials, accounting records and notes of household activities, including entries related to boarders. One of the pages has a short list of some topics in the periodical The Spectator.

Two leaves containing a one-page handwritten letter from Winthrop to Bentley that mentions Rev. John Prince (1751-1836) and briefly discussing the state of Winthrop's microscope and five volumes presented to Harvard that were printed in Calcutta, India.
