Business intelligence em sistemas de apoio à gestão de frotas: Análise de Tecnologias e metodologias

O objecto de estudo desta tese de mestrado surgiu da necessidade de dar resposta a uma proposta para uma solução de business intelligence a pedido de um cliente da empresa onde até à data me encontro a desempenhar funções de analista programador júnior. O projecto consistiu na realização de um sistema de monitorização de eventos e análise de operações, portanto um sistema integrado de gestão de frotas com módulo de business intelligence. Durante o decurso deste projecto foi necessário analisar metodologias de desenvolvimento, aprender novas linguagens, ferramentas, como C#, JasperReport, visual studio, Microsoft SQL Server entre outros. ABSTRACT: Business Intelligence applied to fleet management systems - Technologies and Methodologies Analysis. The object of study of this master's thesis was the necessity of responding to a proposal for a business intelligence solution at the request of a client company where so far I find the duties of junior programmer. The project consisted of a system event monitoring and analysis of operations, so an integrated fleet management with integrated business intelligence. During the course of this project was necessary to analyze development methodologies, learn new languages, tools such as C #, JasperReports, visual studio, Microsoft Sql Server and others.

Quinn’s Leadership Roles: A Confirmatory Factor Analysis Study in Portuguese Health Services

Purpose: To evaluate psychometric properties of Quinn’s leadership questionnaire (CFV questionnaire; 1988) to the Portuguese health services. Design: Cross-sectional study, using the Quinn’s leadership questionnaire, administered to registered nurses and physicians in Portuguese health care services (N = 687). Method: Self-administered survey applied to two samples. In the first (of convenience; N = 249 Portuguese health professionals) were performed exploratory factor and reliability analysis to the CFV questionnaire. In the second sample (stratified; N = 50 surgical units of 33 Portuguese hospitals) was performed confirmatory factor analysis using LISREL 8.80. Findings: The first sample supported an eight-factor solution accounting for 65.46% of the variance, in an interpretable factorial structure (loadings> .50), with Cronbach’s α upper than .79. This factorial structure, replicated with the second sample, showed reasonable fit for each of the 8 leadership roles, quadrants, and global model. The models evidenced, generally, nomological validity, with scores between good and acceptable (.235 < x2/df < 2.055 e .00 < RMSEA < .077). Conclusions: Quinn’s leadership questionnaire presented good reliability and validity for the eight leadership roles, showing to be suitable for use in hospital health care context. Strategic Orientations, Dynamic Capabilities, and Firm Performance: an Analysis for Knowledge Intensive Business Services

The strategic orientations of a firm are considered crucial for enhancing firm performance and their impact can be even greater when associated with dynamic capabilities, particularly in complex and dynamic environments. This study empirically analyzes the relationship between market, entrepreneurial and learning orientations, dynamic capabilities, and performance using an integrative approach hitherto little explored. Using a sample of 209 knowledge intensive business service firms, this paper applies structural equation modeling to explore both direct effects of strategic orientations and the mediating role of dynamic capabilities on performance. The study demonstrates that learning orientation and one of the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation have a direct positive effect on performance. On the other hand, dynamic capabilities mediate the relationships between some of the strategic orientations and firm performance. Overall, when dynamic capabilities are combined with the appropriate strategic orientations, they enhance firm performance. This paper contributes to a better understanding of the knowledge economy, given the important role knowledge intensive business services play in such a dynamic and pivotal sector.
